Part 13

Next day Arnav was in a very bad mood. He was behaving like a wounded lion. He had already shouted at HP three times since the morning for no particular reason and refused to come down to the breakfast table. When Anjali coaxed him he came to the breakfast table with a scowl on his face but he refused to talk to anyone.

Everyone knew that he was missing Khushi so they refrained from taking her name on the table. Arnav did not eat much. After the breakfast Arnav and Akash left for the office.

The employees of AR were having a tough day, as their boss seemed to be in a very bad mood. He kept on shouting at everyone and by the evening the whole staff of AR was shaking with fear at the sight of him. In his anger he skipped his lunch.

When he reached home in the evening he was still in a bad mood and went straight to his room.

Akash told Anjali that Arnav had been in a very bad mood all day and had not eaten anything. Anjali got worried and took a cup of coffee with some sugar free biscuits to Arnav's room.

As she reached Arnav's room she saw him sprawled over the settee. Anjali went to him and touched his forehead. She saw that Arnav was sweating and it didn't take her long to realize that he had fainted due to low sugar level.

Anjali shouted for HP. Everyone came running to Arnav's room. Anjali asked HP to bring sugar immediately. Everyone was worried. HP came running with the sugar bowl to Arnav's room. Anjali put some sugar in Arnav's mouth as Akash called the doctor.

Mamiji started rubbing his feet while Anjali rubbed his hands. All the family members watched in wretched suspense till Arnav recovered a bit.

After sometime the doctor came. He tested Arnav's blood sugar levels with the blood sugar monitor. His blood sugar was still low but he was out of danger. The doctor instructed him to take care of his diet and gave him a few medicines before leaving.

Anjali brought some food for Arnav.

Anjali ' chottey u must eat something.

Arnav ' no di! I am fine!

Anjali ' U r not fine and stop behaving like a spoiled child.

Arnav ' Then stop treating me like one! I know what is good for me.

Anjali ' Right! That is why u did not eat the whole day and then fainted.

Arnav ' Di please!

Anjali ' So u r not going to eat!

Arnav ' No!

Anjali looked at the door of Arnav's room.

Anjali ' Khushiji!

Arnav was surprised and he looked towards the door eagerly and there she stood in a dark green sari. She looked heavenly. Her face was devoid of any make up and she wore minimum jewellery and yet she looked like the Goddess of beauty. Arnav's heart skipped a few beats as she moved towards him. He was memorized and just kept staring at her with his mouth open.

She took the plate from Anjali's hands and sat beside him. She took a spoonful to his mouth and Arnav opened his mouth to eat without any arguments.

NK winked at Akash and naniji , mamiji, Anjali and Payal looked relieved and happy. They left the couple alone and went out of the room.

Arnav kept staring at Khushi till she fed him. Khushi felt a little uncomfortable under his heated gaze but she did not stop feeding him till he finished all the food on the plate. Then she kept the plate on the side table and gave some water to Arnav with his medicines. She kept the glass on the side table once Arnav had taken his medicines. Then she got up to go but Arnav caught her hand and pulled her back. He held her close to him. She tried to wriggle out of his embrace but he held her tightly.

Arnav ' Why did u come?

Khushi ' because u were sick and being stubborn!

Arnav (raising his eyebrows)' Oh really!

Arnav smirked ' Why do u care?

Khushi looked at him with anger flashing in her eyes.

Khushi ' Because u don't care! U don't care how much u hurt the people who love u by being careless about ur health. Did u ever think about di? Do u even realize what she must be going through? Di called me when u fainted. She was crying and u refused to eat once u came around. Do u realize how tensed everyone was for u.

Arnav ' U too?

Khushi (confused) ' what?

Arnav ' U were also worried about me?

Khushi (angrily)' Of course I was worried about u!

Arnav (smirked) ' Oh really!

Then he held her more tightly. Khushi got embarrassed by her own confession and tried to free herself but Arnav even in his weak condition Arnav was way stronger than her. She gave up looked away from him ith a sulking expression. Arnav suppressed a laugh as he observed her expression. She was looking so cute that he found it difficult to resist a kiss and he pecked her lips. She glared at him and he smiled shamelessly.

Arnav ' I am glad to know that u still care about me!

Khushi remained quite and avoided his eyes.

Arnav ' Khushi I love u ! Can't u just forget everything and be happy with me!

Khushi looked at him with tear filled eyes.

Khushi ' Forget everything? I did forget everything Arnavji! I forgot how u forced me into marrying u. I forgot how u ill-treated me after that and never told me the reason behind all that. I forgot how u blamed me for di's plight even after knowing the truth and I even forgot how u forced me to come back to Shantivan by threatening to sell buaji's house. I forgot everything Arnavji because I thought that u loved me but I was wrong. U can never love anyone but yourself or you would never have hurt me by insulting my amma.

Arnav could not see tears in her eyes and he really felt guilty for hurting her. He had sworn that he would never let anyone hurt her and he ended up hurting her himself.

Arnav ' I am sorry Khushi. U know I never wanted to hurt u know that I can never pretend something I am not. I have always hated the woman who was responsible for the death of my parents and then when I came face to face with her how could I forget the pain of all those years. Di's marriage got broken, my mother and father committed suicide. How could I forgive her? I know that my father was also equally responsible and believe me if he were alive I would have treated him in the same manner. U know that I removed Malik from my name and took my mother's maiden surname. I did this because I hated my father for what he did to my mother then how could I forgive that woman?

Khushi winced at the way he called amma " that woman".

Khushi ' but why don't u let her explain '''.

Arnav ' I don't want to listen to any explanations. No explanation can change what happened. My life was ruined because of what happened.

Khushi knew that it was useless to talk to him. She freed herself and this time Arnav let her go. She got up and looked at him.

Khushi ' I will stay here tonight and go to buaji's place in the morning.

She went out of the room.

Arnav looked at her retreating figure and said to himself ' Now that u r back I will not let u go Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada.
