Chapter 13
The Masquerade Ball had come to an end. RK burning with anger inside while Madhu was relinquishing on her so called play against RK. But what they both didn't know was that a third party also wanted to mingle in their little love and hate game.
Mr. Avinesh was sitting in his private study room wondering how strong is the love between Madhu and RK?. Is it really unbreakable? Madhu was a facinating woman; a woman deserving of a good man he thought. He could see that she was the kind of woman that was going to shine in front of all in the future. It would be a great honor just to have her stand by his side. Mr. Avinesh was now drawn to Madhu more than ever. At first he just wanted her to be in his film but now Mr. Avinesh was beginning to be greedy. He has now made up his mind to pursue Madhu, a fierce tiger that he would love to tame as his own. But first he had to make sure that this game that he wants to join will not affect his film with these two, because his first love will aways be his work.
Ruma enters the room.
Ruma: Sir, everyone has gone home and the Masquerade Ball was a big hit.
Mr. Avinesh: Ruma, where did Madhu run off to?
Ruma: I assume she is on her way back to the island sir.
Mr. Avinesh: I see. Even with a months time her head is still full of Mr. Rishab Kundra. Ruma what do you think of their relationship?
Ruma: I don't quite understand sir. Miss Mallik and I aren't that close even though we stay at the same house.
Mr. Avinesh: Don't you think Miss Mallik is an amazing woman?
Ruma is now truly confuse on why Mr. Avinesh is even having this conversation with her.
Ruma: I suppose she is a really strong woman to be able to stand up to a person like Mr. Rishab Kundra. Sir, why are you so curious about their relationship? You never asked about the previous heroines that you hired before?
Mr. Avinesh: Miss Mallik is special Ruma. I can see that she is destined to be a star. And I want her to be mine.
Ruma: Sir, as your long time friend I suggest you not to pursue Miss Mallik.
Mr. Avinesh: Why is that Ruma?..I have never met another woman that would complement me any better.
Ruma: Because being a woman myself I can tell you, Miss Mallik is in no way a trophy wife. As much as she tries to forget Mr. Rishab Kundra her eyes always tells a different story. You will be wasting your time.
Mr. Avinesh: Ruma. You really believe that I can't win against Mr. Rishab Kundra? You should know me better by now. Once I set my eyes on something I will not stop until it is mine.
Ruma: No sir. That's not what I meant. Its not about winning or losing when your not even considered an opponent. Miss Mallik will never look or trust another man. She can only love or hate Mr. Rishab Kundra now, their relationship of hatred and love has now rooted deep in their blood. As a friend I'm telling you it's a lost cause.
Mr. Avinesh: hahahahahha Ruma you underestimate me. Well it wouldn't hurt to try would it now.
Mr. Avinesh is now in more desire to make Madhu his. This would be his best prize posession. To be able to break a bond that is thought to be unbreakable. A prize like that, what man would not want?To have the beautiful Madhu to be his partner in life would make every man jealous of him.
Mr. Avinesh: Well Ruma I can't really let a magnificent woman like Miss Mallik slip through my fingers. Make preparations for me. I would like to go to the island.
Ruma: Yes sir.
Ruma knew her friend well. She knows that her friend can put up a good fight, but she has been living with Madhu for a month. And within only one month she could tell that there was no room for her friend in Madhu's heart. But she knew her friend would just have to learn on his own, like in the past where it took so long for people to acknowledge his work, but now with hard work and determination he was now at the top of the game. But the one thing her friend doesn't realize is that when it comes to matters of the heart you can't win with just hard work and determination. A bond like Madhu and RK was formed by the gods, a bond no man can break ;even themselves can't break.
Back at the RK Mansion
RK: Bittuji did you find her?
Bittuji: No chief we lost her. But we do know that she must have someone helping her, we lost her at the airport.
RK: Airport?
Bittuji: Yes Chief. Seems like there was a private jet waiting for her.
RK: So my biwi has found someone with money to help her.
RK now has a very devilish smirk on his face.
RK: Bittuji it is now time to flush biwi and her benefactor out of the shadows.
Bittuji: How are we going to do that?
RK: Go fetch Miss Trishna. Use that little trump card we have on her.
Bittuji: Got it chief.
RK: Biwi Biwi..who have you been playing with? And to think you didn't even introduce your friend to me.
RK with his scotch in hand, chugged down the last drop and slammed the glass on to the table. RK had cut himself with the broken glass, but this slight pain was not enough to cover the amount of anger that he had pouring out of his veins. " how dare she'who would dare help her!!!!...biwi biwi you've been quite bad, but now it is my turn. Your friend should see what happens when you interrupt a fight between two lions!!"
Madhu now back on the island, was still in a daze of what had just happened between her and RK. She was delighted to know he too missed her, but was more aware that she needed more time to forget him. Because that night when he turned her life upside down was still freshly carved into her heart and soul. But just for one moment she did feel her desire of wanting to be his again. The moment their lips touched all thoughts of the passed came rushing back. Her heart raced till no end, but then her mind snapped her back to reality. The RK she loved was not real. The real RK was the one that she hated with all her being.
Madhu was so tired with all the running that she just collapse onto her bed thinking that she had just one up her RK. " Sweet dreams pati-dev." Just like that Madhu slept , she sure needed the rest because once the sun rise tomorrow she will find herself back in Mumbai.
Madhu woke up the next morning. The sun was definitly beaming and casting it rays against the water outside her window. She always loved waking up to such a beautiful place.
**knock at her door**
Ruma: Miss Mallik, this is Ruma are you awake?
Madhu: Yes. You may come in.
Ruma: Miss Mallik, Mr. Avinesh is here and would like you to come down to join him for breakfast.
Madhu: Mr. Avinesh? Why is he here?..i thought he was to visit only once a month?
Ruma: It seems he has some free time and wanted to spend more time with you.
Madhu: spend time?
Madhu was confused. She thought the Mr. Avinesh would rather have her attend her acting lessons to be good and ready for his film. Why would he want to spend time with her she thought.
Ruma: Shall I tell him you will down in 10 minutes or so.
Madhu: Yes. Just give me 10 minutes and I'll be down.
Mr. Avinesh was waiting patiently at a dining table set outside with breakfast all laid out. He had the servants make everything from pancakes to eggs to crepes..anything that a person might like to have for breakfast.
When Madhu finally arrived she was amazed at the layout that was waiting for her. But instead of being delighted Madhu was beginning to feel a little uncomfortable.
Mr. Avinesh : AH. Miss Mallik, come,sit.
Madhu hesitantly sat opposite of Mr. Avinesh.
Mr. Avinesh: I didn't really know what you liked so I just had the servants cook a little bit of everything.
Madhu: You shouldn't have. I normally would just take coffee.
Mr. Avinesh: Well take today as a present from me to you. Plus we didn't even get a chance to talk or dance for that matter last night. I was waiting for an opportunity but it seem that you had other intentions in mind.
Madhu knew exactly what Mr. Avinesh was insinuating. But what she didn't know was why did he even cared.
Madhu: Yes I did. Umm..Mr. Avinesh how come you decided to stay at the island?..I mean normally you're a busy man.
Mr. Avinesh: I am a busy man. And who says that I am not attending to something important.
Mr. Avinesh was trying his best to charm Madhu but his efforts seem to not work at all.
Madhu now extremely uncomfortable started to stand up with her coffee to look out to the sea instead.
Mr. Avinesh: Lovely view isn't it.
Madhu: Yes.
Even though she could hear Mr. Avinesh's voice but once she turned her sight to sea and looked up in the sun Madhu closed her eyes. All she saw at that moment was the events of last night.
Madhu: LASTNIGHT!!!
Madhu opened her eyes wide. It startled Mr. Avinesh.
Mr. Avinesh: Whats wrong Miss Mallik?!!
Madhu: Omg..how could I forget. I'm sorry Mr. Avinesh I have to go back to my room for a second.
Madhu now rushing back to her room " omg how can I forget about Trishna!..I don't even know if she got caught or got away!!" Madhu picked up her phone and dialed in haste
Madhu: hello Trishna??!!
RK: I'm sorry biwi..Trishna is not available right now she had ran into some trouble. We are trying to sort it out.
Madhu: RK'..
RK: Biwi where have you been?..why the rush last night?..tsk tsk you didn't even say goodbye.
Madhu: RK you!!
RK: Biwi..don't get angry..Its not fair!!..because I'm not there..and you know how much I love your angry face.
Madhu: RK let me talk to Trishna.
RK: I can't do that right now biwi. You see we are in the middle of discussing this contract I have over your dear sister. You remember when you father signed Trishna for that so called movie deal?..well you see his company was absorbed by me afterwards. And to my surprise your sister had signed a contract and accepted a nice amount of 20 lakts. And today I come to collect. But you know what biwi..poor Trishna does not have the money. What to do ..what to do'
Madhu eyes now displayed fear for her sister.
Madhu: What do you want.
RK: What do I want? My money of course. But BIWI since your not here to play with me should I come up with the same arrangements with Trishna as when you needed my 40 lakts??
Madhu: You wouldn't dare.
RK: Is that a challenge?
Madhu: No RK. Please leave Trishna alone. I will get you your 20 lakts.
RK: Oh yes. I heard that you have some kind of secret benefactor now. Here is what is going to happen. If you want me to let Trishna go , you and your benefactor will have to meet me at the very place that we were to take our complete spheres. Don't you think it would be quite romantic?
Madhu: RK you better no---
RK: I give you till midnight tonight to come back to MUMBAI!!! If not I will surely make Trishna's life hell. So biwi see you soon.
RK blew a kiss over the phone to a now paralyzed Madhu. She knew very well that RK would follow through with his threats. What has she done. Wanting to beat RK she had unknowingly pulled her very own sister into this demon's wrath. How is she to go back to ask Mr. Avinesh for another 20 lakts.
Madhu was now in a bind. She didn't want to ask Mr. Avinesh for 20 lakts and on top of that reveal himself as the very person that had free her from RK's grasp. But Madhu knew she had no choice. She needed that 20 lakts to free her sister. She made her way back to Mr. Avinesh.
Mr. Avinesh: Whats wrong Miss Mallik?
Madhu: He knows. RK knows that someone is helping me. He has my sister. I need 20 lakts. And on top of that he wants to meet you.
Mr. Avinesh could feel the fear in Madhu's voice. This was the perfect opportunity for him.
Mr. Avinesh: Miss. Mallik . I can give you the 20 lakts and meet with Mr. Rishab Kundra.
Madhu: Really? Just like that?
Mr. Avinesh: No. The previous 40 lakts was for the film in which you promise to star in. This 20 lakts will not be free, nothing is ever free.
Madhu surely did not like where this was going. She was too familiar with powerful men and their money.
Mr. Avinesh: 20 lakts I can give. But you must give something back in return.
Madhu with a confused look " what do you want?"and this is the very question that will change Madhu's life once answered.
