Chapter Thirty-One – The Conversation

We sat on the stairs, far from anyone else.

She stared at me for a moment and then spoke.

"RK beta, how are you?"

I looked at her confused.

Had she pulled me away from everyone to only ask how I was?

"I'm okay, why?"

"RK, I'm going to ask you something, don't get angry. Just be honest."

"Okay?"

"What do you feel about Madhu?"

"I love her. I always will."

"I mean, Madhuri."

I stared at sasuma for a minute as she waited my reply.

As I searched for the answer within my own mind, I became confused.

I didn't know what I felt about her.

"She's a nice girl."

"Is that it RK?"

"What do you mean sasuma?"

"You don't lo…"

"No! I don't love her. I can't love anyone other than my Madhu. Never."

"Listen to me! I know you love Madhu…we all did, and we all always will."

"Then please don't talk to me about this."

"Beta, falling in love with Madhuri isn't wrong…"

"I can't! I promised her!"

"Promised who, what?"

"Promised Madhu…I'd never fall for anyone else…"

"RK…her last wish was for you to be happy…and Madhuri resembles our Madhu 100%...you'd never be breaking your promise RK."

"I can't sasuma."

"RK, you love her. It's in your eyes…it's in your actions…accept it for our Madhu."

I didn't say a word.

I didn't know what to say.

"Your happiness lies with Madhu. She would want you to be happy. She wouldn't be angry if you moved on with a girl who resembles her completely. She'd be happy. Happy to know that you love her so much that you've found love in a girl just like her. Do it for her RK beta."

"Can I go?"

"I've said what I'd like…now it's up to you to do what you want to."

I got up and walked back into their home.

I stared at Madhu for a moment.

Then without even saying a word, I grabbed her arm and pulled her away.

"RK?!"

"RK LET HER GO!"

I heard sasurji yell behind me but sasuma shot me a smile as she went to control sasurji.

The entire way to the car Madhu struggled.

I opened her door but she crossed her arms and looked away.

"Sit in."

"I'm not letting you kidnap me!"

I picked her up and made her sit. I placed her seatbelt on her as she glared in my direction.

I closed the door behind her and went to sit in the driver seat.

It was time to go back home.
