Chapter 11

It's been a month since Madhu arrived on this private island. All of the teachers that Mr. Avinesh has hired have been impressed with her progress, saying that she has a knack for acting. But Madhu found it to be very easy to pretend to be someone your not, because that would mean she didn't have to revert back to her real self, because one month wasn't enough for her to forget about RK entirely. She still found herself thinking about him during the nights. That is why every night Madhu would wander outside to walk along the sand near the water. But today would be a little different, because Ruma had informed Madhu that Mr. Avinesh was going to come for a visit. He has heard of her great improvement in acting that he wanted to award her with a surprise.

Madhu wasn't nervous or anything. To her, Mr. Avinesh was just another man who wanted something from her in return for his generousity. Madhu believed that between her and Mr. Avinesh is just a simple business deal. Everyone benefits. She got her freedom and he will get his film. But what Madhu didn't know was that she can not stop other men in the world for falling for her, and that soon will include Mr. Avinesh.

Back in Mumbai RK was still shooting his current film. Mr. Avinesh's people had already come by with the movie contract that won't start till 2 more years. Even though RK had all these films lined up he was still yearning for Madhu. Everyday he would ask Bittuji the same question " Have you found her yet?" and he would always get the same answer " sorry chief, not yet." Padmini and Mallik refuse to help RK because they had found out what he had done from his very own mother. Even his own mother was ashamed of what a terrible deed he had done to Madhu. But RK didn't need their help; he was determined to find Madhu no matter how long it took. At night he was still drowning himself in liquor, because it was the only way he could see Madhu. He was even hallucinating during the day that she was around. But every time he got close she would disappear. Everyday RK would find himself in more pain; it was growing immensely day-by-day. It was the most torturous feeling that had now consumed him whole. But he had to get himself together because Bittuji had informed him that Mr. Avinesh has invited him to a Masquerade Ball in two days. Even though RK did not want to attend he knew that it was better than to be alone yearning for Madhu.

Mr. Avinesh was now done with his business for the day in Mumbai and was ready to board a plane to visit Madhu. He was very anxious to see how Madhu has changed. Her image of that night at the party was still very much in his mind. He couldn't wait to invite her to his Masquerade Ball that he was throwing. It was also an opportunity for her to visit her family if she wished.

It was nighttime when Mr. Avinesh arrived at the house.

Ruma: Hello sir. Did you have a good flight?

Mr. Avinesh: Yes Ruma, it was pleasant. So where is Miss. Mallik?

Ruma: I would assume she would be where she is every night.

Mr. Avinesh gave Ruma a confused look.

Ruma: Miss. Mallik always walks along the beach every night.

Mr. Avinesh: Thanks Ruma. I will go to her myself.

As Mr. Avinesh headed towards the beach he sees a slim figure in the distance.

Madhu loved walking along the beach at night. She loved how the water would brush against her feet, and than pulls back, as if teasing her. She felt the water consoling her as she was always finding herself missing RK.

It was a beautiful night. The moon was full and bouncing off its rays on Madhu's flawless skin. Mr. Avinesh was mesmerized. The woman infront of him was wearing just a simple white button shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbow paired with denim shorts. He could see that the wind was blowing slightly against her skin allowing her hair to dance in the air. She was breath taking. As the waves kept crashing against her feet he could feel her trying to let go of all the sorrows she had inside. He was so enchanted that he didn't realize that Madhu was drawing him closer to her.

Madhu was enjoying the aroma of the sea when she felt someone behind her. She turned around to see Mr. Avinesh starring at her.

Mr. Avinesh: Hello Miss. Mallik.

Madhu: You arrived.

Mr. Avinesh: Yes. So I see you are enjoying your stay here.

Madhu turns around towards the sea " anywhere would have been the same as long as I was far away." Mr. Avinesh felt that Madhu was the kind of woman that had put up a great wall, not allowing anyone to pass through. She gave him signals that she wasn't really interested in conversing with him at all.

Mr. Avinesh: I heard that you were doing really well in your acting lessons. All the teachers have praised that they don't think you need the entire 2 years to be ready for my film.

Madhu: I will keep my promise to you. You will get your film.

Mr. Avinesh smiled. He has never met a woman such as Madhu before. It was as if he might as well be invisible. That made Mr. Avinesh even more interested in Madhu. What man doesn't crave what he knows he can't get, and for him Madhu was exactly that. But for now he could sense that this is not the time to act on those emotions of his. Because what he saw in Madhu's eyes were coldness.

Mr. Avinesh: Miss. Mallik I know that you have improved immensely. I really do think you need a break. I am inviting you to my Masquerade Ball in two days. I also think it is a good opportunity for you to visit your family.

Madhu was now nervous, return to Mumbai so soon? But she felt guilty leaving without informing her mother or Mallik. She knew she had to see them at least once. But what she was most afraid of was the chance that she might meet RK.

Mr. Avinesh: Miss Mallik Im not going to hide this from you either, Mr. Rishab Kundra will also be attending. But I purposely made it a Masquerade Ball so that you will be able to hide behind your mask. If you wish to see him you can reveal yourself if you desire.

Deep inside Madhu wanted to see how RK was doing. Did he even miss her? How would her heart feel after seeing him? But one thing for sure she did not want to reveal herself to him. She was not ready. But as Madhu kept thinking about the Masquerade Ball she thought it might be fun to taunt RK. She will see to it that he feels her presence but won't be able so see nor catch her. If she was unable to forget him for this whole month she was going to make it that he too will always think about her.

Madhu: I will accept your invitation. But you must promise that you will not reveal my identity to anyone at the ball. And I also have a favor to ask of you.

Mr. Avinesh: I promise. And what is this favor.

Madhu: At the ball there will be a moment where I will clap my hands and I want you at that very moment to cut off all the lights for 5 seconds.

Mr. Avinesh: Cut off all the lights??? Why?

Madhu: Please don't ask why. I just need 5 seconds of darkness when I clap my hands together. Could you arrange that?

Mr. Avinesh: Yes. I will tell Ruma to take care of everything.

As Madhu walked back to her room, leaving a confused Mr. Avinesh behind. She thought to herself " RK, do you miss me? Because if you do I will torture you further and if you don't I will force you to miss me. I will not be alone in my sorrow, you will surely accompany me." Madhu smiled to herself at the thought. She was now looking forward to this Masquerade Ball. She will make sure that RK feels her presence and hear her voice her but will be driven crazy only by her, because he will be unable to see nor touch her. Her plan will be executed perfectly.

Madhu has a gud plan to confuse RK and make him miss her more
