Trust Khushi to enter a restaurant through the back entrance, straight into the kitchen.

The kitchen was abuzz with activity. No one seemed to mind when Khushi banged the door behind her. A man was chopping something; another was sniffing into a pot. A woman was pouring oil in a pan; another was fussing with the microwave; and another had her head snuck into the refrigerator. A man and a woman seemed to be quarreling over something quite animatedly.

Arnav recognized the man from school. What was his name--Jatin? The Woman, though, he'd never seen earlier.

"Ignore them. These two are always taking a go at each other." Khushi whispered in his ear.

"I know the man. Was my junior in school." He inclined his head towards her, "Who's the woman?"

"Vrinda. His wife."

"Wife?"

"I know. Doesn't look like it. It's a wonder one of them hasn't killed the other." Khushi paused to glance at the couple, who apparently had gotten over whatever it was that had riled them up because at the moment they were busy lip-locking. She looked away, "Or maybe not."

"Get a room, you two. How can you start anywhere? Ever heard there's a time and place for everything?" The woman who'd been previously fussing with the microwave said. She dumped the dishes in the sink and stomped out of the kitchen, calling after her, "I'm taking a break."

"That was Sheen. She's the dessert cook here. You know what, lemme introduce you."

"Wait"

"Attention people." She announced, walking right into the middle of the kitchen, pulling him along. "Meet Arnav. Arnav Raizada." She had to introduce him to the kitchen staff, didn't she?

Out of his element, he tried not to shift on his feet. Six pairs of eyes stared at him.
