PART 19
There she was walking towards him, looking as angelic as ever. She looked at him awkwardly and then checked herself to see if there was something wrong with her.
"Virat what?" She looked at herself again.
He had a hard time getting a grip on himself. He blinked several times to clear his head.
"Virat?" Manvi waved her hands in front of him.
"What? Did you say something?" He asked still unable to tear his gaze away from her.
"Is there something wrong with my clothes?" She checked herself yet again.
"No." It was all he could say without stuttering. How ridiculous this was. Virat Vadhera, the ultimate heartthrob, a playboy was having a hard time to speak to a girl. He laughed at the sheer impossibility of the moment.
Great he is laughing at me now. I can't believe I missed this jerk the entire day. What is he laughing for anyway? "Do I look that bad?" She asked disheartened.
What? No. Unable to form coherent words he just stared at her like a fool which made her think that she indeed was looking ugly.
She was about leave but his voice brought her back, "Wait wait. No you don't look bad at all."
"Then what the hell are you gawking and laughing at me for?" She demanded.
"I wasn't laughing at you, I was laughing at myself. I was gawking at you because I can't take my eyes off you. You look gorgeous." He spoke the truth and felt relieved after finally speaking his mind.
"Excuse me?" She had to ask to be sure she heard him right. Did he just call me gorgeous or have I really lost it and I'm hearing things too now? A day without Virat has driven me insane! She turned around to hide the grimace on her face.
"Did I say something wrong?" He wondered out loud.
She turned back and looked at him carefully, "Is everything alright?"
Virat looked around and asked, "Yes why?"
"Did you just call me gorgeous? It is not April 1st today."
He smiled at her silliness. When will she ever accept that she is the only one for him and that he loves her? He put his arm around her shoulder and answered, "I do favors like that once in a while."
She pushed his hand away and angrily said, "No thank you. I don't need any favors, especially from you."
She huffed in anger and left to go inside the club.
Virat scratched his head and followed her. You have to get her back Virat not annoy her.
"Hey wait up." He called her but she ignored him and went to the bar to get something to drink.
"Allow me." He spoke nicely and asked the bartender for a smirn off for the lady and a whisky for him.
"What is your problem? Why won't you leave me alone?" She asked angrily.
"Good question. Sadly I don't have an answer to it."
She got up to leave but he held her wrist. One touch was enough to send shivers down her spine as well as his. She looked at their adjoined hands and he quickly let go. "Err sorry." "Manvi I'm sorry my intention wasn't to make you angry. I was just joking. Will you sit down please?" He asked earnestly to which she couldn't deny and she sat down.
Did she just listen to me? Good job Virat he mentally patted himself.
Here Manvi could not believe her ears. Virat Vadhera just apologized to her! Either she was going crazy and hearing things or he was. She shook her head to eradicate the disturbing thoughts and decided to get to the bottom of things. "Virat spill it. Whats up? Why are you so nice all of a sudden?"
He simply smiled at her and whispered, "I'm always nice to you."
"If you want to prove that I'm mental then it is working okay? First you disappeared for the entire day without telling me and now all this?"
Before Virat could answer her someone placed a palm over his eyes. "Ahh who is this?"
He tried to feel the hands that blocked his vision to guess who it was. "Guess Virat?" The person, a female voice said.
"No freaking way. Natalya?" He asked.
Natalya removed her palms from his eyes and hugged him. "Yes!! This is the second time we bumped into each other today. Looks like destiny has some plans for us."
Virat looked at Manvi only to find her fuming in anger. As much as he wanted to tease her he knew it wasn't the right time. "Good one Natalya. Err this is Manvi. Manvi this is Natalya, she goes to our college." He introduced the two ladies to one another but both didn't look too happy with the other.
While Manvi faked a smile, Natalya said a simple hello.
"Virat what are you doing here? Lets go dance." She pulled him by his arm but he didn't budge.
"You carry on I'll join you later." He declined like a gentleman.
"Common Virat be a sport." Natalya nagged him and ignored Manvi.
Manvi stepped in between them and rudely told Natalya, "He said he will come later. You mind?"
He stayed mum at her sudden change of attitude and Natalya left vowing to get back at Manvi for the insult. "Manvi calm down. She was just asking me for a dance."
"I know. I'm sorry. I need some air." She quickly left before she could do anything stupid again.
Damn you Manvi. What the hell was that? Why do you care? Let him dance with anyone he wants to. "You are not allowed to feel jealous. You don't have any right on him." She told herself.
"But you do, you have every right." He came from behind and stood in front of her.
She looked around nervously and tried to come up with an excuse to negate her words. "I didn't mean any of it. I' I'"
"Shhh." He placed his index finger on her lips and wrapped an arm around her waist. "Let me speak please."
"You have every right to be jealous, to be mad at me, to ask me questions, to ask me of my whereabouts. You have every right Manvi."
She lowered her eyes and tried to think straight. She tried to move but his hold was too strong.
"I'm not done. I have to say it today please just hear me out."
She knew what was coming next and she didn't want to hear it. She tried to move away, far away from him but she couldn't find it in herself to deny him an opportunity to express his feelings. So she stayed quiet and let him speak.
"I know Manvi after what I did to you, you don't have it in you to forgive me. I have always known this. Trust me I tried to think of you as just a friend but I couldn't. I love you and there is no going back for me. I will always love you no matter what your decision today. I can't hide my feelings for you anymore, I need you to know the truth. The truth is- I love you and I can't imagine a second without you. You don't know how difficult it was for me to stay away from you all day today. I missed you and I couldn't concentrate on anything all day. I can't undo the past Manvi, I have no control over it and I'm truly sorry for everything. Can you forgive me and give us a chance?" He poured out his feelings and waited for her verdict. Slowly he slipped his hands from her waist and moved away to give her space.
With tears in her eyes she looked at him. She knew he was speaking the truth yet she didn't know if she was ready for it. She could see it in his eyes that he meant each word but then again the same eyes had betrayed her in the past. Her heart told her he wasn't lying this time but it'd said the same thing last time as well. Her mind was in a chaos and she didn't know what she wanted.
She wanted to tell him she missed him too all day. Staying away from him made her anxious too, she too can't imagine a second without him but what if this was just a ploy to get back at her. What if he wanted to play around again and his friends were in a corner listening and laughing at her. He'd lied to her once and he might do it again. She cursed herself for falling in his trap again. She didn't know how she would survive this one, no amount of cutting her arms or hurting herself would help her live through this. She felt intense pain in her chest, her insides screaming and she gasped to keep from choking.
"Manvi." He walked towards her but she raised her hand and stopped him, "Don't Virat. Don't come near me please."
"What kind of hidden pleasure do you get out of torturing me? Everytime I try and move on you pull me back to those dark days that I so want to forget. What do you want to hear from me? What answers are you looking for? Yes I love you, I still do. Even after everything you did to me I love you. I tried to hate you, to stay away from you but I ended up hurting myself in the process. What do you think Virat, you will tell me all these things today and make me confess and we can move on? It is not that easy. I'm broken beyond repair. I can never trust anyone, I'm a mess, you hear me, I'm a mess. Even now when you confessed your feelings I was all paranoid and I was expecting your friends to pop out of somewhere and laugh at me. Actually guess what I'm still waiting for you to laugh at me and tell me how stupid I am for letting you back in my life again. Stay away from me Virat. I've forgiven you; you don't have to feel guilty or anything. I can never be with anyone. I don't blame you Virat but this is the truth. You are wasting your time because you can't fix me, nothing and noone can."

P.S I hate one words/line comments. My phone beeps everytime someone comments and I get all excited to read the comment so when I open up the page to "Awesome update" or "update soon" you have no idea how annoying it is. If it continues one of these days I'll end up breaking my phone 😆
