This has become a trend now with every big film gets its share of bashing. "Dabangg 2" did not receive great reviews like many previous Salman films and this time around film also carrying a burden of being a sequel which invites unfair comparison. Film scored really well on day one nut a slight drop in evening shows at some places gave opportunity to a section of individuals to raise doubt over the film. But still 21 cr nett on day one is a huge number. Everyone expected a decent jump of 20% on Saturday. But going by the initial trends of Saturday, it does not look great. Film collected almost similar numbers on 2nd day and that jump did not look possible unless huge turnaround happens late in the day. Film was flat (read similar occupancy as yesterday) in Gujarat, Mysore, Tamilnadu and West Bengal. As per early estimates, film should collect 22 cr nett on Saturday which means a jump of 4%. This number can go up and down depending on huge number of late night shows in 3500 screens, anything vetween 20-22 cr nett is possible. Two day total of 43 cr nett is fantastic but a great Sunday in the range of 27 cr nett plus can take it to 70 cr nett. Film performed well in overseas too with 7 cr collections and weekend numbers will touch 18-20 cr. Jump on Sunday and trending on weekdays after Christmas will decide film's fate. Dabangg 2 has collected Rs 20.98 crore on it's opening day at the box office. The Salman Khan starrer yet again managed to break the opening day record for a working day release.

Dabangg 2 has collected Rs 26.8 crores at the domestic and international box office on it's opening day. On Thursday (Dec 20), the film released in UAE (wide release), Australia (preview shows) and New Zealand (preview shows).
In other countries, including India, the Salman Khan – Sonakshi Sinha film opened on Friday (Dec 21).
Dabangg 2 Worldwide Box Office Collections
Dabangg 2 is likely to collect Rs 80-85 crores worldwide in it's first weekend.
Dabangg 2 has opened well at the US (United States Of America) box office too. The film has collected $300,000 (Rs 1.65 crore) on Day 1.
In comparison, Aamir Khan's Talaash collected $490,000 (Rs 2.7 crore) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan collected 330,000 (Rs 1.81 crore) on their respective opening days.
Like we mentioned in the UK box office report, the figures of Dabangg 2 are good considering the fact that action films don't attract huge crowds in the overseas markets, especially countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The weekend total for the Salman Khan starrer is likely to be around 4-5 crores in the US.
