I agree with you...Films/TV have a big impact on the young minds when their idols are doing something ...the young fans think its OK to follow them...but then the movie shows what the society wants to see...both the parents and the stars have to share the burden over here...Just one party cannot be held reponsible...

when Shahrukh had started the trend of anti-hero with baazigar , Darr and Anjaam...there was a big Debate on whether the movie stars or the so called Heroes...should be doing negative roles and what message does it send to the young fans...
There is a program called Blue's clues which is targeted at kids from the ages of 3 to 10...the person who hosts it was very popular among little kids...Now that person went ahead and started doing a serial where he acted as a killer...there was a big uproar over that...that how could he do that...what if the kids saw him as a killer...what impact would it have on them...so even though tht serial was for a late night slot when the kids are supposed to be sleeping...he still gave up on that role...
So yeah...these mega stars whether its Salman saying..laundiya patayenge or its SRK smoking in public or acting as Don and going scott free...or Kareena and Katrina..gyrating to chikni chameli or halkat jawani...somewhere makes it right for the young mind to do that...so movie makers and parents both are at fault..

but rapists are not young kids.. it's grown men who know raping is wrong. These songs are meant for entertainment.. they don't shout go rape a girl. When these men target girls to rape.. I highly doubt the item songs triggered it.. it's alcohol and having a sick mind; criminal. Like I said in the previous thread.. even in Saudi Arabia rape happens a lot..this a country where item numbers or even sex scenes aren't allowed because of religion and cultural reasons.. even youtube is banned because you can watch item numbers on there..

Did you feel that Salman & Kareena say something wrong???

They were questioned by media and they raised voiced towards it. And for instance I guess we are talking about Fevicol item song - How is that bad influence? Kareena dancing with Salman. No sexual substance at all. He doesn't even hug her in the song forget kissing or sex scene

an important thing aswell is tht these item songs dunt show eve teasing...they dont show a guy stalking the girl, calling her names and making her uncomfortable...or forcing himself upon her...they show both the guy and the girl having fun and teasing each other... the guy says "tu atom bomb hui darling mere liye" then the girl also says "munni badnaam hui darling tere liye"...the key point here is mutual consent...tht is a big indication tht the song dosent promote eve teasing...because eve teasing is when a guy harrases the girl i.e teases her without her consent...

Seems people are going from blaming the victim's clothes to film songs now. When will we get the courage to actually face the problem rather than finding pointless things to blame? How about we work on making the police force better, improving security, enacting harsh punishments, getting cases to actually finish at court in time rather than being kept pending forever, etc?

This thread isn't about rape...I was not talking about rape here...I was talking about the negative effects of movies/TV...

👏

Rape is common in every country!!!

How can we put the blame on the films that are made with intention to entertain???

Overseas, despite po*n being legal and free everywhere. There are still rape incidents.

I am a guy and I would say I have never seen any item song with bad intention in my mind!!!

blue-ice the way I see it this thread could be about the rape case that happened in India.. am sure the topic maker is inspired by the incident and started this topic.

the topic maker even mentioned the horrible rape case.. so yes this topic is about rape

but I see what you mean about the effect of TV

I don't know why the blame is put on item numbers. Now, to an extent I can agree that such a closed society having such blatant sexuality is problematic, but only to an extent.

Back to item numbers. I don't see how they are the cause for trivializing rape (those rape scenes from the 80s could go in that category, but not item numbers). Perhaps I can buy that they increase eve teasing, but even that's a sorry excuse. Eve teasing has been a problem for a long time. And when we blame item numbers, why just blame the current item numbers? What about those numbers from the 60s onwards? Are they the reason for eve teasing as well?
