It was a very brave thing to say and I applaud you for it.Definitely with time ASR and BS became synonymous, bit the fact still remains that we fell in love with ASR and not so much with Barun, because frankly I have watched his other show, BHPH, and his character wasn't that good, and so it couldn't keep me glued for more than 2 months or so (and that was probably the case with most of the audience cz the show didn't even run for a year.)But all that aside, ASR is most certainly a brilliantly conceived and written character and I applaud Gul and the creatives for their brilliant job. I mean even the slightest details were so well focused upon, be it his being an atheist and yet accommodative towards his family's values, or his catch phrase what the (very smartly left unfinished, but we do know what follows, don't we😉), or his relationship with everyone. ASR's charm was that in so many ways he was so real, be it when he fought with his Nani about marriage (I am going through that torturous phase now, so I can totally relate), or that though rude towards Khushi, he was genuinely nice to her family since the beginning to the end, his superiority complex and his fears were all so relateable, so real. Well there is a lot I want to say, but that would require another post perhaps. Finally ASR is to Indian television, what maybe Barney is to contemporary American tv (well only comparing the gravity and uniqueness of the way these have been portrayed and how popular thy have become, not comparing the characters themselves.)In the creation of ASR all the best elements came together, perfect imagination, perfect perception, perfect direction and perfect action. So four lions and BS and all others may or may not be tomorrow, but ASR IS BIGGER THAN ALL THESE. ASR IS FOREVER.

I loved your post.😃
It's apt and perfect. Wonderful description of ASR and Arnav.👍🏼Have nothing to add.. Your post and replies have said it all.ASR has to be the Epic ever character of Indian TV just like Khushi. ASR defined power.. responsibility.. freedom.. individuality, Love.. care.. Hate... and everything of a Strong headed... & self made Man. Character had so much Strong Presence whevever He was standing... It made him.. Dream Guy of Every girl.I am sure.. IPK writers didn't had any idea... that They are Creating History with IPK. Epic Characters like Arnav & Khushi... It's not only hard but next to impossible to find on Indian TV.😊First it was Character of ASR that seduced us... and 2nd it was Barun's portrayal... ASR's Characteristics suited Barun... 😊

hmm.. wonderfully written... I think this is pretty much exactly how I feel..
I love Barun.. BUT I am IN LOVE WITH Arnav...
that is where the difference lies...I have always been clear about this stance of mine...
So ya it was Barun as ASR who seduced me..not Barun..
And that WAS the ONLY reason I actually fell for this show..
Khushi, and subsequently Sanaya made a place for herself much later..and while I watched the show for Arnav I started watching it for Sanaya too..
So ya it was Arnav & Sanaya that made me stick the whole way to this extent..

Loved the post and the thread. For me it was like getting attracted to the character first because of the complexity. You want to solve the mystery of the complexity. Once it's understood, it was like falling in love with the actor. There is a fine line. BS did complete justice to ASR, but somewhere along the line, he exceeded the character and made us feel something extraspecial over and over again.
Anytime I watched a new epi, I focused on the character's intention story wise. The repeat viewing was for appreciating the actor's fine convincing portrayal and the magical touch that left us craving for more.

Thanks. You understood what I was trying to say. I am not for a moment saying that Barun did not do a good job playing ASR but the fact is that It was ASR that made Barun, not the other way around in my opinion.
