Chapter Twenty Two

Khushi arrived home on a flight the ticket of which she had only bought to scare Arnav but didn't actually plan to use. The family members were shocked... They had every right to be... She had expected it because who arrives from her honeymoon alone out of the blue without her husband! They were shocked! But Khushi plastered a smile on her face, said she was missing them a lot and Arnavji was very busy at work so couldn't come with her but he called her every hour...

No one doubted anything was amiss... They were the "too much in love couple." She talked a mile a minute about the places they visited and gave all the gifts she bought for them.. Garima and Buaji visited her, took her aside and scolded her for leaving her husband alone and coming here, "Aisa koyi karta hain kya!" "Bewakoof ladki!" She just smiled and hugged them.

While Khushi was at the airport waiting to board the aircraft what was our Arnav doing?

Murderously angry, swearing, promising to kill her the moment he set his eyes on her Arnav had packed all his luggage ready to leave the country and give Khushi a piece of his mind

When he called Mike to let him know he was leaving, Mike reminded him he couldn't leave without signing the contract...

Arnav didn't give a damn about the contract or the money involved but if AR company didn't get this contract a lot of people might lose their jobs, thus ASR flung his luggage on the wall, put his head between his hands and cursed the crap out of her.

Even though Khushi had irrationally left UK she had faith in her Arnavji that he'll come back to India on the next flight and scold her for leaving him like that. Silly silly girl! Didn't she get enough proof till now that he doesn't even care an iota about her? All he cares about is his own self! If he cared about her, wouldn't he have wanted to give her, her happiness? Would he have so readily agreed to divorce?

A silent tear fell down her cheek. She didn't even know when she fell in love with him but she did! She loves him so much but even in the deepest moments of passion he never whispered any words of love. It's true that she also never said I love you to him but that's because her love is not reciprocated. She didn't want to put him or herself in any awkward position. Khushi did believe that he would never cheat her but will he ever love her? Never probably...

Thus with a heavy heart Khushi went to sleep in their room where the other half of the bed was empty.

Arnav waited and waited. He had thought that Khushi will call him when she reaches home but apparently she didn't feel it necessary to call, the same as she didn't feel it necessary to inform him before leaving for India. He had reached for the phone and also dialed her number but cut the call. Why should he call if she didn't even feel it necessary to tell him before leaving for India? But Arnav was worried. He couldn't rest easily without being sure that she reached home safely. So he called Di and as he knew for sure Di started scolding him for letting Khushi come alone on such a long journey and that he has become really immature and he isn't fit to be married. He pointed out to Di that then why have they been pestering him to get married for that past three years which made Di giggle and scold him some more.

He was now assured she was in the house and safe. Phew! Now that he wasn't worried anymore he felt his anger returning and threw everything in front of him on the wall. Damn that girl!

The only thing which Arnav and Khushi had in common amongst themselves was their ego. Both had egos the size of elephants. Both were pining for each other, yearning for the other, to talk, to touch, to seduce but neither wanted to take the first step towards reconciliation. Khushi did realize she was irrational to run like that and Arnav did realize maybe he was too rude and could have explained in a better way but why didn't the other even call? "Do I mean nothing to him/her?"

So thus they spent a whole month sulking.

Khushi did make sure the gharwale didn't find out anything was wrong between them. Whenever Nani or Di asked she told them he just spoke with him.

Khushi was late. Her period should have started ten days ago. She felt that she was pregnant. Maybe if the situation was different she'd have preferred being a mother two years later but now this was her only chance. She grasped it with open hands. She was happier than before.

At first she thought about letting Arnav know but she got scared. What if he hot angry and forced her to have an abortion. No! Never! This is her child. If needed she'll raise the child alone. Later she decided to let him know after three months. Then she'll be in a little advanced stage and he'll not be able tell her to get an abortion.

She had faith in her Arnavji. He'll fall in love with the child once it is born she is sure. She started taking more care of herself. She forced herself to eat. She bought wools to sew a sweater for her dear baby. She brought a lot of pregnancy books and read them thoroughly. She searched for names for their kid.

She dreamt of their happy family. She, Arnavji and their baby.

Arnav had had enough. It has been a month since he hadn't seen her or talked with her. From talking to Di he had learnt that she had been acting a little weird and could be seen smiling to herself. What the! Here he was almost dying without her and she was smiling. He had to go to India immediately. He booked his flight and returned to India the next day. He rushed to his room but didn't find Khushi there. He opened the wardrobe and found stuff- pregnancy books, a small half woven sweater for a new born, various pictures of babies and names Khushi has scribbled in a page marking good ones and cutting off the rest.

What the f**k!!!

Khushi was sitting in her gynecologist's chamber having just gone through a check-up.

"What's the problem Khushi? Everything is normal"

"Is the baby fine doctor? "

" What baby?" asked the doctor somewhat surprised.

"My baby... Inside me"

"Khushi there is no baby inside you"

"But I am pregnant!"

"Khushi trust me you are not!"

"But I missed my monthly cycle! I am late"

"Khushi! Your monthly cycle is never on time! You are always late! "

" But I have morning sickness! "

" I can't say why but I think because you thought you were pregnant probably your body reacted that way"

Khushi was speechless. She had conjured the whole thing up. This was probably her only chance to have a baby and she lost it!

No, Arnav didn't carry contraceptive in last update. He went out and brought it from pharmacy :p
