Please refrain from using all caps on the forum. It implies shouting.

Now coming to your point, can you prove that 80% Hindus are vegetarian. I wrote 30% after reading the facts. I have not taken any census.

Animal cruelty must be stopped..but y don' t we stop it from our own country by helping the farmers that are using animals for their farms instead of the modern machines since animals are a lot cheaper. Maybe increasing the prices of animals to be more than those of machines (which is how it should be) might help when it comes to India.

I have not deviated from the topic😊 because I believe that turning to vegetarianism is also an important step to stop cruelty against animals. Doesn't animal slaughtering for food purpose come under animal cruelty? I am a non-vegetarian so if I talk about animal cruelty it would be a hypocrisy😛.

Absolutely does !!!! BUT a big BUT .....we must take small steps .......each individual .Can WE turn the world Vegetarian alone , and no we can't turn stop the farmers of our country from using animals like some one above suggested . And we can't stop the snake charmers or the bhalu wala , monkey wala to give up their proffesion .........So what can we do at our own level ????????????????? Very important . We can stop and prevent cruelty taking place around us . In my lifetime ......( oh and its been longer than most here .LOL) i have tried to rescue abuse of small animals happening around . Whether i saw a child or a teanger bullying a kitten , or my dhobi beating a mangy dog , or when some kids wanted to run the lawn mover on a poor harmless non poisnous garden snakes !!!! Just be aware and look around you , there is lot of cruelty happening at our levels too . Lets stop that !!😉

excuse me but i would like to state that the early men and women (5-6000 years ago) consumed meat as well as grains, vegetables and extra. As moral values developed, indians started eating only non-meat items. So every single one of our ancestors have eaten meat without considering it a sin, if a predator can consume an animal without any guilt, then why cant humans? lets not bring ethical values into this debate.

sry indygirl... i'll get back onto topic. i think its wrong for any animal to be abused. Domesticated animals cannot talk, and thus they rely on us to be their primary care giver, and if we shirk on our responsibilities, the animals are going to face the hardship that comes with not being given food, water, care etc. properly.

As for wild animals, i am completely against hunting wild animals for sport, and then selling their skin to make a profit. What if someone skinned a human and sold them? Animals dont deserve to die just for their skin or for sport, its cruel to kill animals just because you have the power to.

I agree with Indygirl that the topic deserves serious attention, I think we have several contradictions in our society, on one hand we are willing to bring in legislations( some states already have ) to protect cows, and on the other hand we do not hesitate to throw stone to shoo away a dog or an animal that may not be harming us. Basically it has to do with awareness, which is lacking among most of us. REcently our sancturies were in news for the wrong reason-------- disappearing tigers. How bad can this? if animals begin to disappear from protected areas , something is wrong somewhere. Hunting and Poaching continues to go on the sly, with very few people being caught. We have systematically eroded the habitat of animals for our own use. There will be no space left for the animals. Something need to be done urgently.
