Sorry.. but I couldn't resist myself from adding a certain character to this post.
Part 44: She means nothing to me!
"Excuse me, Mr. Raizada. May I have this dance please?" Arnav stopped dancing and looked over his shoulder when he heard a female voice behind him. Khushi looked over his shoulder at a gorgeous woman, wearing a black cocktail dress with a low neckline. Her hair was tied up in a bun and the diamonds on her neck shown brightly. Arnav's eyes opened wide. Before he could say anything, he heard Khushi's voice.
"Sorry, but tonight he will dance only with his wife. Right, dear?" Arnav raised his eyebrows and turned around to look at his wife, an amused expression on his face. She had a forced smile on her face; he could see anger in her eyes. He tried hard not to laugh.
"Is that so, sweetheart?" He asked, with a smirk. She put her hand around his arm and smiled. They forgot about the girl standing in front of them... in fact they forgot about the whole world around them. All they saw was each other!
Their thoughts were interrupted by the waiter, who was serving appetizers. Arnav and Khushi looked up to see the girl walking away. Arnav placed his hand on Khushi's hand, which was on his arm and called out, "Sheetal?" The woman stopped and turned around. She looked uncomfortable. Arnav took Khushi's hand in his and walked towards her.
"Long time! How are you, Sheetal?" Arnav smiled. He turned to Khushi, "Sweetheart this is Sheetal, an old friend from college. Sheetal, meet my wife." He said still smiling at Khushi. Khushi looked at him and smiled.
"Arnav. It was nice to see you here." Hearing Sheetal's voice, Arnav looked at her.
"How come you are here, Sheetal?"
"My company just hired NK as our photographer. I did hear your company hired him. If you hired him, he must be good right."
Arnav smirked, "Well he is my cousin. I had to hire him."
Sheetal smiled. "Congrats Arnav. I didn't know you got married."
Arnav looked at Khushi, and put his arm around her. They smiled, looking at each other. "Yes. Who thought I would ever get married? But then I fell in love." Khushi blushed. Their thoughts were interrupted when Sheetal cleared her throat.
"Ehmm.. Arnav it was nice seeing you. I need to run." And before Arnav could say anything, Sheetal disappeared among the crowd. Arnav looked confused.
"An old friend eh?" He turned to look at Khushi, eyeing him suspiciously. "Old friend meaning... meaning what?"
Arnav laughed and put his hands on her shoulders. "Old friend meaning, she means nothing to me. You, my sweetheart, mean the world to me. You are the only one I ever loved. You are my life. You are all that matters to me. Understood?" Khushi burst into a smile and nodded.
Arnav's face became serious. "That reminds me we never held a news conference about our marriage. Maybe we should. I always kept it a secret from the media. Let's hold a press conference next week."
"But Arnav, you don't have to. There is no need to .."
"I want the whole world to know about my wife... I want to tell everyone how lucky I am that you are a part of my life, sweetheart." Khushi blushed. Suddenly her eyes opened wide.
"But Di.. and .. you know.." Khushi looked concerned.
"Di?" Arnav's eyes opened wide. He looked around. Where was Di? He hadn't seen her in a while. "Chotte?" He heard Nani's voice. He turned around to see Nani and Akash running to him, Manorama and Payal behind them, Payal carrying baby Ananya in her arms. "We can't find Anjali. She is not here." Arnav raised his eyebrows.
"Ok, Mohan. Good, yes. No, its ok. Good. No, don't tell her you talked to me." Arnav said. He kept the phone and turned to face his family. They were sitting in the bedroom in the farmhouse. "Mohan said he first took her home. She picked up a bag and then she insisted on going to Anand Aashram."
Khushi raised her eyebrows. When Arnav talked about the ashram, his face changed.. what was it .. pain.. anger.. maybe both. "Aashram? Why would Di..?" She asked, quickly standing up to place her hand on his arm.
Arnav looked at her. "Dadi." Khushi raised her eyebrows. "Our Dadi lives in that aashram."
Author's note: Sorry I was MIA for a few weeks. I was traveling first and then had a paper deadline. Was super busy and almost killing myself working all the time until Sunday. Then I was busy cleaning my apartment.. and to be honest not in a mood to write happy stories given the current track.. and the complete destruction of my Arnav and mockery of his love for Khushi!
Also please.. please dont ask me to update. I am honored that you love my story.. please understand if I could update, I would... If you send me pm's, I will feel bad! 😭 But I am touched by the concern and the love. Thank you!
And no, Sheetal entered only for this update. I just had to write this in my story. That's all. 😆
