"Arnav.. I told you we were running late. We should have left earlier.. "

"It's my fault now? Who was strutting around half naked, showing off her skin and tempting me..?"

Khushi opened her mouth wide. "What? You hid my saree .."

Arnav burst into laughter, seeing his wife, fuming with anger, her hands on her hips, draped in a light lavender and peach saree with heavy gota embroidery. Khushi made an annoyed face and folded her arms across her chest. Suddenly her face lit up. Arnav turned around and his eyes opened wide as he saw Nani and Manorama walking towards them. His eyes teared up as he saw that Nani was holding a baby in her arms.

"Chotte, Khushi bitiya." Nani started saying, but stopped as tears caught in her throat. Khushi threw her arms around Manorama and then bent down to touch Nani's feet. Arnav touched the baby's head and looked at Nani.

"Nani, I am sorry.. I .. I shouldn't have left all of you and.." Arnav gulped, trying to hold back tears.

Nani shook her head and said, "Chotte.. don't you want to give Ananya a kiss?"

"Ananya?" Arnav's eyes opened wide and he burst into a smile. "Di.. she remembered?"

Nani nodded. Khushi looked confused. Arnav took the baby from Nani's arms and placed a kiss on her forehead. Khushi caressed the baby's head. Nani and Manorama had tears in their eyes seeing Arnav and Khushi hold the baby.

Arnav gave the baby to Khushi, who started making faces and playing with the giggling baby. Arnav looked around and then looked at Nani. "Di..?"

Nani nodded. "She is inside. Chotte, I don't expect you to forgive her or come back home."

Arnav's face clouded with anger. "Nani, after what she did.. how can I.." He closed his eyes. His eyes flew open, as he felt a gentle touch. He turned around to see the baby kicking her feet against his arm and Khushi laughing. Nani and Manorama had smiles on their faces.

"You are here?" They turned around to see Payal and NK walking towards them. Payal hugged Khushi and NK hugged Arnav. "Nannav, you got so delayed? I thought you both will be one of the first people to arrive."

Arnav and Khushi looked at each other, raised their eyebrows and burst into laughter. Everyone else looked at each other confused. Nani took Ananya from Khushi and everyone followed NK inside. Khushi, still smiling, followed Payal, but stopped as Arnav grabbed her hand. She turned around and Arnav walked and stopped beside her.

"Khushi, are you sure you want to do this?"

Khushi smiled and touched his face. "Yes. I am fine, Arnav. I have nothing to worry about as long as you are with me. You know that, don't you?" Arnav nodded.

Khushi leaned in closer, looked around and then jumped up and placed a quick kiss on his cheek. She turned around, lifted her saree and ran up the steps to the front door. She stopped at the door, turned around to look at Arnav, giggled and ran in. Arnav smiled and followed her.

Khushi smiled as she greeted Manorama's friends. She suddenly felt dizzy, so she turned around to walk to the side of the room, to where the tables with the drinks were. She picked up a glass of water and took a few sips of water, as she turned around. The glass fell from her hand and the water spilled at her feet as she saw Anjali standing in front of her. Anjali had tears in her eyes.

"Khushiji, I.." Anjali started saying. She grabbed Khushi's hand, as Khushi took a step back, horrified. Khushi looked down at the hand and then at Anjali; she blinked, confused.

"Khushiji, please.. please forgive me.. I am sorry.." Khushi blinked again. She opened her mouth to say something, when suddenly voices echoed in her head.

"Dammit, maybe if you had been a little selfish and if you had told me the truth about Di, our baby might still be alive today".

"I know what it feels like when a woman tries to get close to your husband."

"Khushiji, I need your help. Come fast."

"Di has realized that what she did was wrong."

"Khushiji, try these pills. These helped me in my first month."

"Our baby might still be alive today."

"Our baby.."

Khushi yanked her hand out of Anjali's and walked away, her face expressionless. She walked away, biting her lower lip, fighting the tears away. Anjali closed her eyes and turned around. Her eyes met Arnav's.

Arnav watched as Anjali walked to Khushi. He started to move towards them, but stopped as Anjali grabbed Khushi's hand. Tears filled his eyes as Khushi walked away.

Anjali ran to Arnav and grabbed his arms.

"Chotte, please.. please come back home. Chotte, I need you in my life." Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Arnav scoffed. "Tell that to my baby, the one that you killed." Anjali froze. He started to turn around, but she put her hand on his shoulder and he stopped.

"Chotte, I am terribly sorry. I was just trying to save you."

Arnav raised his eyebrows. Anjali continued. "I thought it was .. I didn't realize it was your baby."

"What?" Arnav screamed.

Anjali gulped and continued. "The night you found Khushi after.. after Shyam kidnapped her, he said .."

Arnav said in a low voice, through clenched teeth. "And you believed him? That rascal? That lying two-faced son of a b…." Arnav closed his eyes, trying to control his anger. A few seconds later, his eyes flew open. "That doesn't excuse what you did." Arnav pushed Anjali's hand away, turned around and walked away. Anjali watched him, tears in her eyes.

Arnav smiled; he was leaning against a pillar, his arms folded across his chest, watching his wife dance. She turned around to look at him and waved her hands, urging him to join them. He shook his head and she made an annoyed face. She stopped and put her hands on her hips. She pressed her lips together and asked him to come to the dance floor, moving her hand. He rolled his eyes. Khushi ran towards him and grabbed his wrist. She dragged him to the dance floor next to NK, Akash, Payal and Priya; they cheered. She lifted his hands and started shaking them as she danced. Soon he joined her, a wide smile on his face.

Anjali gulped as she watched Arnav and Khushi dancing with smiles on their faces. Her eyes filled with tears, as she realized her brother didn't need her in his life anymore. She turned to look at Nani, who was sitting with Garima, Buaji and Manorama, with Ananya in her arms. As she watched, Payal dragged Buaji and Manorama to the dance floor too. Nani laughed and then looked Ananya and placed a kiss on her forehead, smiling. A tear rolled down Anjali's cheek as she realized even her daughter didn't need her anymore. She turned around and walked to the front door. She stopped at the door, turned around to take one last look at everyone and then walked out.
