When we look at it - at first glance, yes.. it looks like he is a bad man..
But if you really see what he must have gone through - listening to the bad remarks from the society, everyone condemning his sister's action, Arnav's dad backing out from responsibility or whatever it was.. knowing that he was fairly young at that time, he must have been badly affected. That's what made him what he is today.. Ofcourse, he was doing the same thing that probably happend with his sister.
I am not justifying his actions or him wanting to take revenge in the way he is taking.. but that's just his reaction to the situation - is what I am trying to say..
He might have reacted differently..
But his hatred for the family may never go away.. so he may never wish good for them.. because he knows that when it was time they backed out from what needed to be done..
making lot of assumtions based on analysis I have read so far.. not sure if true..
But Shyam has been affected by some actions from the past - is what I firmly believe..
