Khushi lost track of how long she stood outside thinking of a valid excuse to answer why she hadn't taken her medication. She knew Payal was going to lash out on her and she really didn't want to go in.

"Hai Devi Maiyya, Raksha Karna" she whispered as she bit her lip and slowly opened the door.

Khushi quickly scanned the room and sighed in relief when she saw no Payal, she went into the kitchen and filled her tummy till she couldn't walk. She couldn't help it, She had an appetite the size of an elephant. She smiled in content and began to walk into her room. She saw Payal near the window and walked towards her putting her hands around her Jiji's shoulders.

"Jiji, I'm sorry" she put her fingers on her ears and made a cute puppy-dog face.

"Khushi, Don't give me your puppy look. You know I can never stay angry at you like that." Payal smiled lightly and shook her head.

"Khushi, do you remember anything?"

Khushi pondered slightly, she made a thoughtful look and closed her eyes.

"Jiji, I'll be right back"

Khushi quickly entered the bathroom and changed into her pink salwar. She threw cold water on her face and walked out holding Payal's hand, sitting on the bench outside their house to watch and gaze at the stars.

"Jiji, it happened so quickly. It happened 14 years ago Jiji. Am I meant to remember?" Khushi asked questionably.

"Khushi, it was a traumatizing event. Doctors are giving you medication so that you remember, whatever happened wasn't an accident Khushi,It was planned"

Khushi sighed and closed her eyes. She turned side-ways and stared at Payal for a few seconds. Payal scrutinized her gaze; she saw the determination in her eyes.

"Jiji, do you think I was meant to die instead?"

"Khushi!" Payal immediately put her finger on Khushi's lip and shook her head, Payal immediately hugged Khushi as she slowly began to sob.

"Pagli. Don't you dare say that? Ever do you understand? If you do, there'll be no one worse than me, Samji?" Khushi smiled and wiped the tears that began to form in Payal's eyes.

"Jiji, I love you so much." Payal smiled and hugged Khushi again. "And I love my small sister much more" khushi giggled and Payal pinched her cheek.

"Jiji, Go to sleep now, I'm coming in a while"

"Khushi, Alone at night? You're scared of the dark."

"Jiji, Amma and Babuji are watching me from the sky; Those stars up there are glistening, Nothing can happen to me while they look down at me."

Payal smiled and stroked Khushi's hair before kissing her on the forehead. "My sweet sister" she whispered and entered the house.

Khushi gazed at the sky; she wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled lightly.

"Amma Babuji. Why did you leave me?" she sniffed and put her hand on her face. She cried until she couldn't anymore and went back inside to go to bed.

"I DON'T PAY YOU ALL TO GOSSIP. I PAY YOU TO WORK DAMMIT" he screamed and watched as Lavanya, Sam and Pam flinched under his gaze.

"ASR darling, we were just talking about the new green Prada bag you gifted me" Lavanya beamed in excitement, the girls behind her squealed and began jumping slightly.

He watched Lavanya's side-kicks smile and squeal as he bit his tongue to avoid swearing. "What the?" The girls immediately fixed their hair and stood up straight.

"Get back to work. NOW" Arnav growled before scowling at Lavanya. "And Lavanya, Send the Koothrapli industries files to my desk immediately" (LOL I WATCH The BIG BANG theory 😆)

"Yes baby" Arnav stiffened before he walked out of the cabin.

"OMG. Lavanya darling, ASR is such a boss. How do you handle him?"

Lavanya pouted her lips and smiled; she applied gloss onto her lips and smirked. "I just do." She turned around excitedly and raised her eyebrows. "Pam, Sam, I think it's time!"

Pam and Sam turned around excitedly and squealed again jumping with joy.

"Wait, I don't get it?"

Pam shook her head and her silly sister.

"Uff. I think ASR's going to finally propose to me"

"Wait what!?"

Pam and Sam both replied astonished.

"Um La. But you know ASR. He isn't the commitment type?"

"Well that's all changed. ASR loves me" Lavanya beamed as she twirled her fingers.

Pam and Sam smiled but gave a knowing look to each other.

Khushi sat on her desk twiddling with her thumb, she couldn't concentrate. Her thoughts kept dragging her back to the conversation she had with her Jiji last night.

What if her parent's death wasn't an accident?

What if they were involved in something bigger?

The thoughts clouded her mind. She clenched her eyes shut. She hated this, she hated the fact that she couldn't remember. She just wanted to confront that moment of the past.

She sighed loudly and stared at the Devi Maiyya statue in front of her.

"Devi Maiyya, what's happened? Why did they leave me?"

A minute silence as Khushi puts her forehead down on the desk

"Khushi" Khushi looked up startled. "Come to my cabin immediately"

Khushi nod her head and got up, she followed Arnav into his cabin waiting for her to bark orders at her.

"Khushi are you okay" Khushi gaped at Arnav, did he really just ask her if she was okay?

"Why? What difference does it make to you?" Arnav could feel the anger cloud upon him. He was trying to be civil here. No one spoke to him like that.

"What the? I'm asking for your well-being and you're snidely replying with a question. How dare you?

"Sorry sir."

Arnav glared and looked around.

"Di's inviting you home next week."

"Anjaliji!?" Khushi smiled as she remembered the wonderful lady who brought a smile on her face. "Don't fly to high, She's inviting your sister too"

"Of course, Jiji as well" Khushi smiled. "But why? Is there a special occasion?"

"Diwali."
