Day 4: A film that makes me sad

Grave Of The Fireflies (Japanese)

I know there's a separate category for 'best animated film' here, but this one is hands down the saddest film I've ever seen. Set in the Japanese aftermath of WWII, Grave of the Fireflies is tragically poetic and one of the most beautifully made Anime flicks out there.

A must-watch for all those who are anti-war (and willing to shed buckets).

This threaddd . Back from the dead I see. Man I wish I could do my 30 days over :)

@Taco: grave of the fireflies can reduce anyone to a crumpled sobbing heap on the floor. It is powerful and terribly sad. My favorite ghibli film has got to be howls moving castle (with Mononoke a close second)

Vikram that's not a bad idea. Maybe I will.

Also, I used to draw so much anime back when I was younger. For about a year I thought I'd be a mangaka or a seiyuu. I also used to watch Naruto but was more invested in amines like cowboy bebop (which you should watch if you havnt already. You will love it. It's a space western. And also check out samurai champloo by the same director which is a mashup of feudal Japan and graffiti/hiphop culture)

It's not your typical Saturday night movie Theatre 😆 It's gut-wrenchingly sad, unless you're a toughie of course.

I love anime, but I haven't watched much of it since they never showed quality Anime here. We did have the Animax channel though, and my favourites were Ranma 1/2 and Cowboy Bebop (what I saw of them anyway). I've heard really good stuff about Ghost In The Shell and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Have you seen Akira? I intend watching it over the weekend. And yeah start your 30 day quota again, at least we'll get to see more of you here 😆
