Have been a silent member on this forum but I needed to vent so here it goes...

Why can't shows just run for a year or two years with a strong story line that is interesting to watch till the end ...rather than thinking right of the bat tht they gotta stretch the story 3 to 5 years with nonsensical plots which eventually ruin the premise of the story, ruin the characters and consequently leading to a drop in the TRPs and finally the show being called off air. I mean Diya aur Bati started off so good..with a good story line, good characters and good actors and they still have a lot more good content to show still but they are choosing to just introduce new tracks tht revolve around misunderstandings because they wanna drag this show for many years to come. It would be refreshing to see a serial tht is not aiming towards stretching the show for as long as they can but tht aims to tell the audience a good story, has plots relating to the main premise, and tht is interesting to watch throughout till it finally is brought to an end by the writers and not by force of the channel.

Wht do u guys think?

We get attached to a show based its story and concept but once a show becomes hit they drag and drag and drag until it becomes irritating without moving the story a bit.It is very pathetic all these shows take twists and turns based on TRP not the Actual Story.

Good post and yes they rely so much on the TRP and drag the show to such an extent that the original concept is lost and many times the characterisation is lost as well.
Good characters that we as viewers come to love are made to hate as they loose the essence of the original character we as viewers loved.
With all the twists and turns in the process of dragging they can never bring back the characters we as viewers loved... It is really sad that quality suffers in the process

good post. The creatives seem to be enjoying themselves with this track. Maybe the trp's of the show have gone up as most viewers identify with the silly saas-bahu taunts. Many blame Ekta for the SB nonsense, but she was a smart businesswoman who knew the pulse of her audience. She knew what will have the audience coming for more. All new shows begin saying that they will be different, but in the end all of them resort to or a forced to resort to saas bahu gimmicks. This is exactly what is happening to DAB. Most Indian TV shows begin with a concept and a rough story line and it gets worked on as per the trps. There are very very few daring producers out there who stay loyal to the story line and execution of plot. Sadly unless the viewer perception changes, the quality will remain the same. Sorry to be such a dampener.
