Just to make clear my attitude toward Yash's views about the name change.

I'm curious what Yash thinks of the practice in general...I actually don't think he has a voice in this at all. I am only hoping that he and Aarti think alike on this...

The decision re. changing her name rests SOLELY with Aarti. And she clearly feels that this is an antiquated practice.

I don't believe Aarti needs her husband's "permission" to keep her own name...

Let me start off by saying, Shobha literally put herself on a pedestal for me today.. I loved the way she silenced Papa Dubey with just 2 looks :D The way she supported a hesitant and unsure Aarti was superb!!

That being said, from the Scindia's POV, this situation seems to be a completely new territory. Their view of Aarti is that of a charity case, that by getting married to their son, she stands to gain a lot of things - things which matter to them. And their view is with that fact in mind - they seem to be guilty when it comes to Arpita's parents ( again begs the question - just what did happen to her?) and indebted to them completely - that they are willing to put their son through the torture of having to live with the name Arpita - all over again. They are denying him that fresh start that he so desperately needs in the process. They- esp Papa Scindia who seems to have equated Aarti to a housemaid in his mind - feel that Aarti's name should not matter to her, for she is getting the Scindia surname in return. Mommy Scindia is a bheegi billi when it comes to opposing Papa Scindia, but it looked like she looked satisfied - that he was putting down Aarti so badly.. Poor Aarti - she will have her hands full with these two relics..

Arpita's Parents- No comments - other than the father overacted horribly. Their mad request seem to make sense to them - probably because it is easier for them to imagine Arpita as Yash's wife, but not Aarti..

The way Papa Scindia said that they'll have to even take care of Arpita's parents emotions, gives me the feeling that he will suggest that Arpita's parents do Aarti's kanyadaan. Which makes me feel worse for Shobha, she is only losing her every right over Aarti in the process. Papa Dubey is acting more and more crazy - the way he was trying to object to Shobha supporting Aarti's cause was just plain weird..

Yash - He dint agree at all, why did Mommy Scindia come to the conclusion that he did 🤢
Yash & brothers - awesome!! Lightened the heavy heavy episode...
Aarti - I wonder why she was so quiet today? Is she intimidated by the new inlaws? Or just unnerved by the situation..

But looking forward to tomorrow's episode.. Too much of drama.. Something light will do this show a lot of good.. :)

@Mira: Pankaj and Vidhi both I think are voices of calm reason in this whole thing. And I think Vidhi has been able to maintain her sanity because of Pankaj, to be frank. She does take him for granted but I can't forget all of their adorable banter in the first few episodes, at the dinner table, on the train etc. They are clearly a couple very much in love but forced to grow old before their time (especially Vidhi) thanks to the weight of responsibility. Pankaj treats her as an equal and lets her have her own voice and I think this is why Vidhi has been able to maintain her own moral compass in all this hypocrisy.

This also drives home the point the CVs are trying to make with Yash and Aarti, that the husband being the right person is more important than the in-laws being perfect.

But that begs your other question of how the brothers are so balanced compared to their parents. I would say it is interaction with the world outside through the fact that they lived in hostels. That seems to be the tradition of the family (ergo the absent Vedanth) and it does make kids grow up fast and think for themselves. I went to boarding school and I have really seen the difference between hostel kids and those who grow up at home. It also explains why the brothers are so much closer to each other than their parents.

Why is it soo hard for people to put themselves into the victim's shoes before passing such major opinions...
One more thing, I am reminded of how Yash used the motherly love fact to deal with his mom earlier about Aarti leaving Ansh for marriage... 😳... Gayatri understood it as she was also a mother, and saw the point that if Aarti actually agreed to her point, she was selfish... 👍🏼...

Why did they not use the same thing as in Yash explaining to his MIL that what if someone told you to rename your Arpita as her would be hubby's first wife? 🤔

Well Just saying, they need this decision pending game to keep viewers engaged hence the miss... 😈

What the point of my ramblings is, Hope yash tackles it this way after wedding when this issue rises up... 😎

Both Yash and Arati are against the name change. Its just that now the situation is out of their hand. If Yash says No now, it will hurt Arpita's parents, and if Arati says NO then it will create more problem for her in the future.

So, I think even after marriage, Arati should discuss about this to Yash and then he should say NO against this name change to his parents.So that they will not think bad of Arati as it will be Yash's decision.

I haven't watched the epi yet.. But reading all the post frm members here, I m sure that its gonna enjoy it.. Kudos to all you guys for the great analysis and post 👏 👏..

I just wanted to point out one thing about Dady Scindia: I couldn't believe how he kept on reminding the Dubeys abt his Favour?? Is it really favour 😲 🤔.. As far as I've understood it was more over like a mutual agreements as both families were looking for DIL ans SIL respectively.. Furthermore it was Scindias ho wanted a mother rather than a wife for Yash.. So how come he even bring the issue of favor.. Ohhh Gosh, I m having such a bad feeling for Arati after marriage.. Its gonna be hell days for her.. 😭 😭

I don't care if they think badly of Aarti (and neither should she)...It's her decision and she should own it. Why should she hide behind Yash?😕 I would like Yash to support his wife in her decision...

Whew! Another cracker of an episode today...

Just read the first few pages and at this point I'm so fatigued by the emotional turbulence of the episode...I'm going to say this for now:

@Samana: You've written up so many of the things that I probably would've mentioned anyway...Wonderful comments about everything, especially Shobha-Aarti's silence. I feel worse for them now...They tried their best...Aarti probably would've spoken up if Shobha had been able to initiate a sort of dialogue between the Scindias and herself, but of course that couldn't have happened considering Suraj Pratap is used to being the power-wielding patriarch and won't stand a dissenting opinion. I still stand by Aarti - she knows how important decorum is - which is probably why most of her outbursts appropriately happen when she is in her room with her parents.

Pankaj bhaiyyaaa. He's an absolute sweetheart. So is Prateek, of course, but Pankaj's concern for everything that Aarti must be feeling at this point is SO nice to see. FINALLY someone articulates this and hopefully Yash will keep this in mind! The irony is that none of the Scindias knows how much MORE suffering Aarti is hiding beneath that silent, downcast gaze.

@SiniHanda: Love your comments as well! The Scindia brothers are really a great trio...And truly, Aarti has immense courage and a spine of steel to be exhibiting this amount of self-control after that bhashan by Mr. Scindia. We know she's going to end up following through with this marriage...Major praise for her tolerance level...She must be fighting a thousand raging emotions inside her right now.

@Mansi :Wowww thats a awesome take on each and every character-sketch 👏👏👏..what I can understand from your take is CVs r deliberately showing that each character is either flawed or supressed or dependent ...no character can b termed as flawless and perfect yet ...So it will b each character's journey to become flawless ,independent and getting her/his own identity back..

Pankaj needs a backbone in front of his wife ..

Pratik needs to confront the major issues ..he is no more a kid

Yash needs to come out of his guilt trip soon and take the responsibility of Aarti ...Past can b kept as memory but present needs to b handled properly

Aarti needs to bring her hockey-stick independent nature back in action and confront Yash soon regarding all her doubts and issues

Vidhi needs to balance out her life properly before her hubby goes out of her reach 😉😆

Daddy Scindia needs to be a human first before declaring himself as God

Gayatri needs to find out her own identity before deciding someone else's identity in the family

Arpita's mom needs to realise that Aarti too is someone's daughter and has a certain existence just like Arpita ...A mom can b selfish but cannot turn a blind eye to facts

Arpita's dad too like Gayatri needs to find out his own identity before deciding other's identity

Mr.Dubey needs to start confronting people to keep his family's dignity and honour intact

How many will complete the journey in the end remains to b seen 😳

@Jyoti: You have hit the nail on the head about todys episode and its ultimate results:

Yash and Aaarti ...both said neither Yes nor No to Name-change Decision despite the elders assuming things on their behalf : Yash's silence and Aarti's silence was taken as Yes by all the elders but the silence will break after marriage into a big NO ...This is my 14 yrs of serial experience speaking ..so watch out 😎

This is exactly what happens when the two people who should have the final say keep quiet or mum and then the rest of the janta have a ball! I really wish Yash and Aarti are shown more as mature adults rather than as tame kids buckling under parental pressure. Yash and Aarti are not voicless kids ... they are themselves parents of children ... surely they should forcefully say what they want and dont want?😲

@Shubhika: I liked what you have written about the meanings of the names Vidhi and Pankaj! I liked the part where you wrote "She balances with others' & her own notions!👏" and "Pankaj lives in a family filled with hypocrites still he is unaffected with hypocrisy! "Nice analysis!

@Samana: See you have written that Vidhi hasd a reasonable argument: "Vidhi brought up an excellent point. Is it more important for Aarti/Shobha to drive the principle in or is it important for Aarti to just keep her name in the long run? Can Aarti forgo the principle for the eventual result to be what she wanted anyway?" To me it sounded like a reasonable argument when she said it but when I thought about it later I felt that taking the easy way out of acquiescing for now and tackling it later is not always the best policy. Sometimes issues fester and become worse if we let them stew for later handling, na? I suppose Vidhi knows that this is the best way to handle this family, but in this name change thing I felt the issue should have been tackled right at the start. That just my own preference, I guess!
