Don't worry...Pak news channels would be showing that clip for the whole year now...like the Indian channels did when ARR won it😆

That has been changing a lot. Titanic which is an Oscar record breaker was a commercial and popular film. So were films like Return of the King and Avatar. Even the Blind Side was commercially popular and had Sandra Bullock a totally commercial actress win. Although The Artist won a lot this year ' a lot of the nominations were like The Help, Bridesmaids, Hugo were popular films. They are gradually becoming less pretentious and recognize comic and popular films as well.

The Help was awesome, the subject matter is serious and there are a lot of serious moments ' but overall it is so funny, witty and the characters are just awesome. I'll never forget Minnie's Pies. 😆

When one says popular, one should also specify 'popular over where?'. In your case you are applying the same yardstick for both US and India. Titanic & to a lesser extent Avatar were sensations in India. Rest I am not so sure about. Atleast I haven't seen them being promoted or causing a stir over here. In fact I haven't even heard their names except for Return of the King.

The 'Cirque du Soleil' was good too...i have watched them live alsoand they are always that good.
BTW ..how come Justin Bieber has become important enough to be included in the Oscars now

I get Blind Side being popular in USA only. It was an American football film.

I'm surprised Bridesmaids is not well known in India. Was Hangover a sensation in India? Bridesmaids was touted as the Hangover equivalent for women and it had SNL women making it.

Reliance group were one of the producers, that's why you had the Ambanis at the Oscars. So its weird that they did not promote it much in India.

Hangover I know (although haven't watched), but Bridesmaids, no. Although it might also be that it was promoted but I missed it.

Actually, Bridesmaids was not a chick flick. It was not your stereotypical romance. It was much more risqu for a chick flick having sexual innuendo as well as toilet humor. But it could be considered as a female oriented movie. In the states though many men also saw and enjoyed the movie, and I'm taking straight men here. They really liked the fact that it was not all lovey dovey, and was not afraid to show women in a less than positive light.
