Chapter 3
Jeevika shook Maanvi by her shoulder which brought her back from her chain of thoughts. She was suspecting that Maanvi was hiding something but what Maanvi said next pushed that thought aside.
"Di, aap bhi na! Why would I not be happy? Yea, I agree we both used to fight a lot. But that's the past. We really are happy with this marriage. Trust me. And why would I lie to you? After all, we're sisters. Khun ka rishta hai humara! (We are blood related). I love you Di and would never do anything to hurt you. Don't you trust me?
Jeevika smiled at this. Maanvi gave an inner sigh knowing that for now, the situation was in control. But what about the future? She hated lying to her sister about anything. Hiding is a different thing and lying is another. Beeji walked in then distracting both sisters.
Beeji walked up to them and admired them. Tears formed in her eyes as she saw both the girls in front of her in their bridal outfits. She had waited for this moment for a long time and it still seemed to be a dream to her at times. "Look at both of you. Marriage day and that too just the way you both wanted it. Getting married together."
The girls smiled at her as she took out a jewelry box and a pair of gold bracelet was shown to them. She slipped one of it on each of their hands saying, "These were your mothers. I know she would be happy to know you both have them now. Always keep it close to your heart and never forget all that I have taught you." Then getting emotional, she kept her hands on their cheeks and looked into their eyes.
"I... I can't give you back what you've lost. I can't be your mother, but I have raised you both like one. I - I know it's not enough but if I have ever been harsh on you, then it's because I wouldn't want you mother to complain. Your mother will be very proud of both you. I know that. And if there ever comes a time when you feel like you need a mother, then don't hesitate on telling me. I have been there and know that I always will be there for both of you."
Both the girls were numb not knowing how to respond. They just felt the urge to embrace their Beeji close to their heart. Beeji hugged them back patting their heads. Chachi came in to see the embrace and tears of her own formed. Wiping them away she inform them that the Panditji was calling them. Beeji nodded and wiped the tears from Jeevika and Maanvi's cheek. She pulled their veil on top of their head. Giving a peck on their forehead, and they headed out.

Viraat was covered with thoughts coming from all over the place. What am I doing? Is this right? What if they find out? But I want to do this. If not for me, then for her. But why? Until a few days ago, it didn't matter. Why so much now? Bro... what if bro finds out? He'll be hurt a lot. I've hurt a lot of people. I won't be able to bear losing him too... He was lost in his own thoughts as Viren looked at him to try and find a loophole that he can uncover, but Virat's face didn't tell him anything. His face showed something, while he said something else and then his own heart was telling him something totally different. What is happening to me? he questioned himself.
Both graciously walked down the stairs slowly in bridal style walk accompanied by Chachiji and Beeji on either sides. Virat and Viren's gaze followed everyone else's and saw the sight in front of them. A sweet smile formed on Viren's face while Virat's face had shock written all over it. Wow. This bandariya can look good? He found himself just staring, not even able to pry his eyes off of her until Viren nudged him.
"What are you doing mere bhai? If you keep your mouth open for this long then flies are going to get inside you!" Viren said teasingly as he watched his brother totally engrossed at staring at his future wife.
"Huh?! What?" Virat asked as he realized what he had been doing.
"Hah never mind. Let's go and get this over with. What say?" Viren asked confidently.
"Aye aye captain!" Virat responded, trying to recover from the moment of admiration he had shown.

The couples sat down on the mandap that they shared and the religious activities began. Everyone was quite happy with the alliance. Both the females were going to the same house so everything could be taken care of in one night. Also that would make it less uncomfortable for the girls so they don't feel completely lonely in their new house.
The only person who was not quite thrilled with the alliance was Swamniji. She had never liked Maanvi and wasn't quite happy about Virat marrying her. On the other hand, was glad about Jeevika being Viren's soul mate. When the wedding date of Jeevika and her favorite son, Viren had been announced, she had been thrilled. Now she could stay away from Maanvi and not let her bad ideas influence her family. How was she supposed to know that the nightmare named Maanvi was never going to leave her?
When the idea of Virat marrying Maanvi had first been brought up, Swamni had laughed. She knew that Virat would never marry, actually that had been one of her fears that he would never marry; hence never move the Vadhera name along. When Swamniji had finally realized that this marriage was going to happen and was no fake, the only thing that had consoled her was the fact that at least Virat was marrying. Even if he was marrying someone who would probably ruin their lives at home.
Now, as the couples sat in the mandap, Swamniji thought about her decision to allow this marriage to happen. She watched as Virat and Viren held the mangalsutra and tied it around their individual girls. Jeevika's cheeks turned into a deep blush as Viren came close to tie it. It was a natural reaction that even Maanvi couldn't ignore. Unknowingly, she blushed as well. She had decided to not look at Virat for the night in order to save some explanation. But that plan went flop when she looked into his eyes as he tied the mangalsutra.
He looked different in this traditional attire that he had adopted. That was one of the reason she blushed. She looked away for a second as he turned to take the sindoor that Vanshika was handing the boys. Their soon to be mother-in-law looked no less pretty. She looked at Jeevika. The sole reason for her doing this. Jeevika looked the happiest and that could be reflected in her eyes.
Maanvi wanted nothing else. She shifted her attention back to Virat who forwarded his hand to apply the sindoor on her. She shut her eyes closed capturing the moment. At least, if not for her then for her Jeevika Di. A marriage is supposed to be the happiest day of a girls life. She decided to enjoy it for the sake of it. There were other days to think about other things. She opened her eyes to look at everything in a new light. She showed her change in behavior by not giving Virat a taunting smile. Instead, she gave him a pleasant smile which shocked him to bits. Then looking around and she found Swamini staring at her with cold expression. She decided to let that go for the night as well and stood up when Panditji asked them too.
In their own spaces, both the couples circled the sacred fire and took the seven sacred oaths. As they took each phera, Panditji explained the meaning along with narrating the mantra's. The girls exchanged a look and so did the boys. This was it! They were no longer single. They would have to think about others now before themselves. It was Viren's least problem. He had started caring about Jeevika more than himself even before the marriage. It was different for Virat though. As much as he would try to ignore it, he was married!
As the phera's came to an end, they came down the mandap and took the elders' blessings one after another.
It's over now. I am married. At least make the best out of it... Maanvi thought.
Finally! I'm married! I am so happy to be granted the honor of living with Jeevika for my whole life, Viren thought.
Virenji is so sweet and perfect. I know I am going to have a great life with him.
Great. I'm married. Now what?

The moment of bidaai had finally came. Both the girls were crying badly standing in front of their beeji. Beeji stopped her tears for a while as she advised them, "You're married now. That is your family now. Take care of them just like you used to take care of us. Don't give them a reason to regret. Jeevika, you understand everything. I trust you. And Maanvi, control your anger. I know you won't stop yourself from speaking your mind. But stay in limits. There will be problems at your new house that you both will have to overcome. Work together and trust each other. I know you will. And don't worry about us. Take care of your husbands. Give them all the love they deserve."
Saying so, she hugged both of them tightly for the last time and then pushed them ahead. They had to get the bidaai ceremony over. Pinky Chachi showered her love on them as well and wiped their tears. But they didn't stop. They just kept on flowing more as they touched Badi Beeji's feet and went towards their Chacha together. He too, just like others, patted their heads and gave his wishing for their new journey in life.
Dabbu said cutely, "Both of you are leaving me. Aab mai kiska bodyguard banuga?" Inspite the sadness that towered upon them, the girls and rest couldn't help but chuckle at the cute comment. The trio embraced themselves in a tight hug and let the tears flow. Maanvi wiped hers and warned him, "Dabba, you better take care of everyone. If I get any complain, then I will..."
Dabbu completed, "Chop me to pieces? Par uske liye toh aapko Rishikesh aana padega na?"
Jeevika shook her head with pleasure watching her sister and brother fight. Maanvi nudged his head and all hugged again. Viren and Virat led them to their individual car as the family surrounded the car.Giving their last greetings to everyone, the car went away with Jeevika and Maanvi looking back from the window, tears welling up in their eyes once again.
