Hrithik Roshan turned 38 Tuesday and wishes from tinsel town came pouring in for the star. Friends and colleagues wished success and happiness to the Bollywood heartthrob who is ready to charm his fans as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in the new version of 'Agneepath(2012)', coming out Jan 26.

My Review:
I went in the theatres expecting to see a good movie, good performance, but left the theatres spell-bounded! seriously the promos do not do justice to thise awesomelly well made movie!
the movie began with quite a bang..what happened to Vijay in childhood was very taumatic and disturbing! as an audience I just could not digest the cruel and violent injustice! the death was shown rather violently, which makes this new Vijay's revenge more powerful! as the experience is shown much more traumatic!
Then came the entry of my awesome and amazing Hrithik!! ok let me be honest...I had doubts..however I was soo very wrong...this is Hrithik's best performance to date! the pain and revenge in his eyes made you feel for him...not to mention his longing for his family brings tears in your eyes...I cried throughout the movie because of Hrithik, that is how powerful his performance was! at the end when he hangs Sanjay Dutt...and screams out Baba...mann he made me feel his anger which he kept within himself for years!! Hrithik aka Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in this movie was the soul of the movie! I have watched the original, and let me tell you, Amitabh's portrayal was very over the top...this Vijay is as vulnerable as he is powerful...which makes you feel him much more...Hrithik has outdone himself yet again!! he was truly brilliant!! amazing! I loved when he said the dialogue 'baap ka naam etc.' and it comes at such a profound moment too! I am quite sure Hrithik is winning all the awards this year!
Final word: wonderfully made movie, an amazing remake, much better then the original, you can feel every character and get completely engrossed into the wold created by the director! everyone acted beautifully, especially Hrithik Chikni Chameli is strictly average, however it gives the much needed relief! awesome movie! full paisa vasool! blockbuster! 4.5/5

Hrithik Roshan's performance in the remade 'Agneepath' is being compared to the Vijay Deenanath Chauhan played by Amitabh Bachchan, but the new film's director Karan Malhotra says that the former's portrayal couldn't have been as intimidating as the original.
Hrithik has approached the character way too differently from the manner immortalised by Bachchan and debutante director Malhotra says that imitating the senior actor was never the intention.
"The idea was not to make Vijay intimidating at all. There was no way that I could have asked Hrithik to do something similar to Mr Bachchan. What he did back then in the original 'Agneepath', no actor in India can.
"I was sure that Vijay had to be real and identifiable. What Hrithik portrayed was as per my vision. I didn't want people to look up to him but walk with him in the revenge. I wanted the audience to feel that given the space and time, even they would have done the same," Malhotra told PTI.
The legend of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan has been completely de-structured in this remake effort.
"It would have been stupid to think that I could recreate the same film. That would have been suicidal," said Malhotra.
And his efforts in being different seems to have paid off with 'Agneepath', which released last Thursday, setting a new box office record with its first day opening collections of 23 crores.
