"Well, everything started when I was twenty…at college" Bani shuddered a little. Jai gave her a comfortable pat full of warmth. Bani smiled.
Flashback starts
"Bani! Bani! Bani Dixit! Over here" someone waved. It was Alisha. Bani smiled. "Did you do your Physics homework" Alisha asked while Bani nodded. "Lend me your pad, I will copy, I didn't understand anything about the whole chapter" Alisha said making a dramatic face. "Will you excuse me, I'll go to the library and search for the latest Gossip Girls" Bani winked.
She was walking when she toppled over someone. As usual she was so lost in her la-la land and had collided with a person. "I'm sorry" Bani muttered embarrassed. Her face had turned red. The stranger looked at her and was about to snap and then he stopped looking at her innocent face. "I'm sorry, I got zoomed out in my thoughts" she said giving him a puppy face. The stranger nodded and said in a deep voice "just watch out where you're walking, not everyone is so nice" and he helped Bani to stand on her feet. Bani studied him and said "you're new?" "Yup, I'm, I am in for studying, I came from California you know" he said proudly. Bani nodded and said "well, welcome here" and she gave him a friendly smile. The stranger nodded "Hey, I am Rishi" he said extending his hand for a shake. Bani just grabbed his hand and shook it. "Bani…" Bani mumbled. "Wow, nice name, I love names starting with the letter 'B' and now 'Bani' is on my list" Rishi complimented. Was she dreaming? He was giving her lots of attention and he was even making her blush!
Some days later Rishi had become the popular boy of the school; arrogant and had a lot of attitude. Bani preferred to stay away from him. But Rishi had other plans; he constantly would talk nicely to her; give her lifts, ask her notes and the nicest he could be to her. Soon Bani saw herself falling for him despite her friends warning. Most of the nights; she would be dreaming about him. It wasn't weeks since Bani was asked out.
Kingston Palace was the hang-out of Bani and Rishi. Bani was becoming weak in her studies and the principal had to call home too. He even had kissed her hands a gazillion of times making her blushing like anything, he would tell her how beautiful and innocent she was; how cute she looked. Bani would often bunk classes to spend times with Rishi. Rishi had occupied a very important place in her heart. One day Megha saw Bani and Rishi together and that was the day; she was sent to a hostel far away from home. She hated Megha very much.

Sahil pulled in the parking lot. Rano was fast asleep cuddling to the door. He didn't have the heart to wake her up so he walked over and opened her door trying to think how to bring her inside. But with the slightest noise Rano had woken up and saw Sahil standing there, the door left ajar. She brushed her hair, and walked out. Sahil closed the door and turned to her; without looking back, she made her way inside; shivering. He felt bad…she was ignoring him like anything. Sahil tagged behind. It was late; and everyone had retired to their respective rooms.

Her life was under control in the Hostel. She hated to spend every single minute there. She was away from her family, Alisha and moreover Rishi. But soon she became friends with those girls there. One of them was Jasmine. Jasmine would constantly talk about her beloved.
"We met recently in California and believe me he proposed me to marry him" Jasmine cooed. Bani smiled. Her every conversation about this 'beloved' stranger would make her think about Rishi. It pained her million of times; how she had cried all night. She only knew how alone she was. She hated Meg till no end. How many bad words she had told her! She herself knew.
"You know 'he' has come to meet me today" Jasmine told her. "I told him about you, I'll introduce you to each other. Come on" Jasmine said.
"Bani, meet Rishi, and Rishi, this is my hostel-best mate Bani" Jasmine said happily. Bani stared at Rishi in complete shock but he made as if nothing happened!

Rano changed in her night-dress and without caring for anyone; she went to sleep. Sahil just stared at her his mouth hanging. He got angry; she was the same girl who four days ago had told him that she couldn't live without him and now she was behaving like he didn't exist. It was too much to bear.
