Part 5

Next morning she went to her parents' room to talk to them.

"Mummy, I want to talk to you about an important matter." she told to her mother who was arranging her clothes. Her mother looked at her father who was sitting on the reading table busy in some office work.

"Han Geet, bolo!!",

she smiled and continued doing her stuff.

Geet was a little reluctant about talking about the matter in front of her father but then she was hoping that incase her mother insists her on marrying Abhishek, her father would definitly take his daughter's side, that's what he had assured her a few days ago.

"Mummy, yesterday you were talking about Abhishek's proposal",

her mother was delighted to hear that, because she was anticipating her agreement.

"ummm... mummy I don't want to marry him",

she gathered all her courage and said quickly as if she wanted to get away with it as soon as possible.

Her mother looked at her father, who was suddenly enraged to hear of her denial. He was not expecting it from her. She had always been conforming to their orders. This was the first time that she had gone against their decision.

"But why is that so??"

, he said controlling his anger.

"Why do you not want to marry him??",

he questioned, "He is quite an appropriate and successful person, he will be good for you!"

"Han beta, your father is right",

her mother tried to convince her.

"We have already accepted their proposal. His father is your father's business partner, if we refused their proposal the good terms between your father and them would have been ruined. You know it will cause a great loss to you father's business."

her mother tried to reason their decision.

And Geet just could not think of anything. She couldn't not believe it. Her marraiage was nothing more that a business deal to her parents. She had lost all her senses.

Now she realised how wrong she had been by thinking that her parents won't go against her will. All her trust had shattered.

She knew that now it's not about who is better for her, it's about a business deal.

"But I won't let them do it this time, now that I know the truth I won't marry Abhishek at any cost",
she tried to stop her tears.

She gathered all her strength and said ,"Woh... mummy, baba, I want to do do MBA. I have already got admission in Harvard Business School. I don't want to marry this soon", it felt as if she was talking to some strangers. She knew that it was the only way to get away with it at that time.

"But beta...",

her mother tried to convince her to change her plans but she was in no mood to listen to anyone now. Her trust was shattered,"Mummy please, I won't change this plan of mine, I'm leaving for US within a week." she left the room announcing her decision.

When she got the offer from HBS, she had tought of refusing it because she didn't want to go away from her family. But now, everything had changed.

Her regret on saying all that to Maan had incease than ever before. It felt as if she is all alone in this cruel world, the world who didn't care for her emotions, her feelings. She had never felt alone 2 years ago. But now, not a single thing was same in her life.

"I'll have to fight now"
she thought in her mind, "I've had too much of orders, too much of commands in my life", she thought with determination.

She was to leave for US tomorrow. She was too busy throughout last week in making arrangements for her departure. Now she was was coming back to her home after fulfilling all official formalities.

She was feeling restless since last few days... yes, she wanted to meet him, she wanted to see him once before she left for US. She wanted to cry on his shoulders and let all her pain worries go away with her tears.

All of sudden she asked the driver to take her to his home.

She was extremely excited to meet him, although she was nervous as well since knew that he would be mad on her because of all she had said to him. But she knew that he can't just ignore her for too long. After a long time she was smiling thinking of him.

The car stopped with a jolt in front of his house. She came out of the house and knocked on the door, she couldn't wait anymore now. But all her excitment faded away as she saw some stranger open the door. She was still hopeful.

"Umm... can I see Maan",

she asked impatiently.

"Maan?? kon Maan?? No one of this name lives here ma'am. It's my house and I have been living here for last two years."

the person disappointed her shattering all her hope.

She stood there not knowing what to say next when the person closed the door on her face. She was all lost. She didn't know how she dragged herself to her car.

Her flight was about to take off but she was feeling as if something was missing.

"Where would he have gone to??",
she couldn't find the answer to her question. She sighed and lost herself in the dense cloud outside the plane window.

He was feeling too restless today. After taking breakfast he came back to his room. For the first time in last two years he didn't feel like going to office today. He felt as if the vacuum in his life was increasing day by day.

He tried to keep himself busy in some office work...but he couldn't take it anymore.

It was in the evening when he got dressed and left his room in hurry. He was passing through the lounge when dadima ma saw him.

"Maan where are you going at this time of the day??", she asked worried for him.

"Dadima, I have to do some important work. I'll come back soon and will talk to you then, bye!!", he replied without even stopping in his way and left the mansion.

He was being impatient, he didn't know what he will say to her. "What if she humiliated me again??", it was his mind questioning again, apprehensive about his ego again.

"No, she won't!!", a very unreasonable reply came from his heart.

He reached Handa Mansion. He didn't want anyone there to know that he was not the same Maan, that he was the mighty,rich Maan Singh Khurana now.

The servant took him to the lounge and asked him to wait while he would call someone.

Few minutes later, her father, came downstairs. Seeing him sitting in Handa Mansion, a frown appeared on his face. But he successfully hid his expressions from Maan. He sat beside Maan when Maan asked him, "Uncle can I see Geet?" Mr Handa knew that he was one of Geet's best friends.

"Beta, she didn't tell you??" his reply puzzled Maan, "She has left for US with her husband Abhishek."

He felt as if someone had slapped him on his face. He sat there flabbergasted. He couldn't believe what he had just heard.

He somehow managed to say good bye to her father and left that place immidiately.

He was driving very harshly. He didn't know what he was feeling on hearing this news. Was he disappointed? was he frustrated? was he angry? or was he jealous?

No, He was broken.

He was broken yet again by the same person. Then he realised how wrong he was in believing in his love.

"Yes, I was wrong", strangly it was his heart this time, "I was wrong that I thought she must be missing me"

"But let missing aside, she didn't even care to tell me",
he was shattered, " How could she marry someone else??", he still didn't want to believe it.

"Huh... why would she bother to think of me, after all she doesn't know that I'm even wealthier than her parents now!", he chuckled as if trying to stop his heart from crying out!

He heart was not able to bear all this... he felt as if his heart was drowning.

PART 6

As time passed, her love for him had grown stronger.

Still couldn't believe that he has gone out of her life forever, that she would never meet him again.

She would talk to his picture which was always there on her bedside, "I might not be there with you Maan, but you will always be there in my heart." she smiled looking at his picture and kissed it lovingly. This was her friend whenever she felt alone or gloomy, just talking to his picture. It felt as if that picture talked to her, as if it told that they were made for each other. His smiling face as if assuring her that everything will be fine, that she should not worry about anything. She kissed his picture smiling as if she could feel him.

He knew that he will have to move on in life. He didn't want to think of the word "love" it was nonexistent for him now. He was more stern, more dry and more cold than ever before. He had forgotten how to smile, he had forgotten how to be happy. He was just indifferent to the whole world, emotions, feelings didn't exist for him now.

Dadima still wondered as to what had happened that evening , but he was never ready to tell her anything about it.

It's been 3 years, whole three years- for her living in his love, or rather virtual love.

It's been whole three years- for him burning in that hell, in that cold hell!

She was returning to India today, she was happy she now atleast she would be in the country atleast. She didn't want to be with him, she didn't want to meet him- she just wanted him to be happy where ever he was. She didn't want to disturb his life once again, all she desired was a contended life for him- even if it was without her.

She just knew that no one can take his place in her life.

Her plane had just landed at Mumbai airport when got a call from her sister.

"Yes Khushboo!", she was delighted to talk to her sister after such a long time.

"Di, where are you?", came panicked response of her sister.

"Khushboo I'm at Mumbai airport, I'll be at home in 30 minutes", she responded trying to calm her down.

"Di don't come home, here everyone is preparing for your marraige to Abhishek as soon as you reach home. All the arrangements have been done", her sister was crying now.

"What are you saying Khushboo??", she was shocked to hear that.

"Yes di, please, if you come to home they will force you into this marraige, I know that you won't be happy with him, you would never be happy with him", she told her hurriedly.

"Di I have to cut the call now, please take care of yourself!", she cut the call saying without giving Geet any chance of asking anything further.

Once again, once again.. she felt all alone in her life. She had never thought that her family would make fun of her wishes, her desires.

Her all senses had gone numb. She didn't know what she would do now, she didn't know where she would go. There was no one who she could go to. She had to leave the airport lest her family might come there looking for her, but where???

"Babaji!!", she cried looking towards the sky.
