PART 14

Her strained body thumped on bed lost in the thoughts of her gloomy life which felt alighted for few hours but everything turned put to be an illusion again. Yet her heart and soul were determined to face every challenge that comes in the path of saving the tiny ray of light of her dark life.

"Humhara hona ya na hona kabhi koi mayne nahi rakhta tha

Humare bagair bhi ye duniya chalthi thi

Hum laakh rothe the par inn aasuyon ko pochnewala koi na hotha tha

Humari zindagi ek battar mazak bankar reh gayithi...

Shayad hum yuhi puri zindagi ghut ghut kar kaat lethe agar tum humari zindagi mein na aate

Ek tumhi toh ho jisne mujhe ye ehsaas dilaya k mujhe bhi muskurane ka haqh hai...apni zindagi apne tarreke se jeene ka haqh hai

Tumhi toh ho jisne iss bejaan si laash ko dhadkano ki aahat sunai..tumhi toh ho jisne mujhe jeene ka maksad diya

Duniya ne tukhradiya tha hume bus ek tumhi toh ho jisne baahe failaakar hume apne aaghosh mein liya

Kitni khush thi main tumhe paakar magar koi mujhe tumse cheen lena chahtha hai...

Kya do pal ki bhi khushi meri kismat mein nahi thi jo mujhe tumse judaa karne ki sajhsh rachi jaa rahi hai

Nahi...ab chahe duniya k khilaf hi kyun na khadna pade main wo zarur karungi par tumse judaa hokar ab main jee nahi sakungi"

Maan's eyes were continuously pouring out the guilt and pain of his own deeds. Hearing the pain and loneliness she went through because of his ignorance and selfishness smeared apart his already bruised soul. He was burning with guilt and self loathe realising the depth of her love and loneliness.

MAAN(thinking): Maine to khudgarzi ki hadein paar kar di hain. Bachpan mein maa baap ko khone ka zakhm to tha hi aur main usi maa ki maut ka zimmedar bana ke uske zakhmon ko hamesha taza karta raha. Kabhi ye nahin socha ki ismein us masoom ki kya galti jiske paas maa baap ki yaadon ke naam par tasweeron ke alawa kuch nhin hai. Wo is umeed mein jeeti rahi ki main kabhi to use samjhoon aur maine samajhna to door usse seedhe mun kabhi baat tak nahin kiya. Jabbhi apne jazbaaton pe qaboo nahin chala uska gussa hamesha uspe nikala. Use itna tod diya ki wo muskurana bhool gai. Aur apne gunahon ka ehsaas hone ke baad bhi uski chahaton se bekhabar main apne aap ko saza dene ke naam par use saza deta raha. Wo hamari dooriyon ke gham mein jeena bhool gai aur main is waham mein raha ki usse door reh kar main sazaa kaat raha hoon. Gunah hamesha maine kiya aur sazaa hamesha usne bhugti. Par sab janne ke baad to main khud se nafrat nahin kar sakta kyunki main sazaa khud ko doonga aur dard meri Geet ko hoga. Geet ka pyar to itna masoom aur pak hai ki iski roshni to mere gunah, mere rukhepan aur kisi bhi dard ke saamne dhundhli nahin pari. Ye Geet ke pyar ka saaya hi hai jo itne gunahon ke baad bhi mujhe khushi ki ore bula kheench raha hai. Janta hoon Geet ki masoom mohabbat ke saamne mera pyar kuch bhi nahin hai par aaj ke baad ye Maan Singh Khurana apna wajood bhi apni Geet ke naam karta hai aur wada karta hai ki apni poori taqat laga dega par apni Geet aur apne bachche ko kuch nahin hone dega.

With determination in his eyes he called Adi...

MAAN: Adi get me the appointment of Delhi's best gynecologist. I want an appointment for today itself.

Geet's trail of thoughts were broken by his authoritative voice and as his words reached her ears she smiled out of her tears knowing he has agreed with her.

GEET(caressing her abdomen): Dekha baby papa tumse kitna pyar karte hain? Wo thodi der ke liye Annie ya gharwalon ki baaton mein aakar unhone aisa keh diya hoga warna wo to aisa kabhi nahin kahenge. Ab dekhna tumhein kuch nahin hoga papa hain na. Mama agar nahin bhi rahi to...

Unknown to Geet he was hearing her sweet and innocent conversation with their child. Tears were stinging his eyes hearing the faith she had in him but as she was going to speak about her going away fear engulfed him and he kept his finger on her lips not letting her speak further...

MAAN: GEET!!!! Please mama aur baby dono ko kuch nahin hoga. Papa apni jaan laga denge.

He gestured her to never utter those words again with his pained eyes...
She looked at him astonished...questioning herself "is it a dream?". Her tarnished soul still not ready to believe that he is close to her, talking about her well being.
The moment was broken by the ring of Maan's phone...

MAAN: Haan bolo Adi...
Adi: Sir aaj ka appointment to nahin mil paya par kal morning 9:00 baje ka mila hai..
MAAN: WHAT THE HELL??? Maine kaha tha na mujhe abhi ka appointment chahiye??
Adi: Par sir the doctor was not available at this hour.
MAAN: Maan Singh Khurana ki WIFE ka sawaal hai kal tak ka wait nahin ho sakta. I don't want any excuses mujhe abhi doctor ka naam aur number do.

She was looking at him amazed at his words...questioning again "did he really mean that?" not ready to get hopes answering herself "may be he is very worried for the baby"...
But she can never tolerate his pain so she gained courage to speak to him...

GEET: Maan!!!

As soon as her soft melodious voice fell on his ears his nerves calmed...

MAAN(on phone): I'll call you in a minute.
MAAN: Haan Geet bolo??
GEET: Aap fikar mat kijiye baby bilkul theek hai aur kal tak ki hi to baat hai sab theek rahega aap mat ghabraiye. Please shant ho jaiye.
MAAN: Nahin Geet kal tak ka wait karke main tumhari aur baby ki health pe koi risk nahin lena chahta.
GEET: Ek raat mein kuch nahin hoga aur phir doctor ne dawaiyaan to deen hain kuch nahin hoga please Maan abhi main bhi bahot thak gai hoon aur kahin jaane ki taqat nahin hai.

He was alarmed hearing she is feeling tired...

MAAN: Tumhein thakan mehsoos ho rahi hai to late jao khari mat raho. Apna dhyan rakho Geet tumhein aise laparwahi nahin karna chahiye.

Holding her like she was something very delicate he moved her to bed and made her lie.
She didn't say anything but bewilderment was written on her face at his sudden panic.

MAAN: Tum aaram karo Geet main doctor se baat kar leta hoon. Agar usne kaha abhi ke liye sab theek hai to hum kal hi jaenge. Theek hai???

She just nodded her head in approval still bewildered but he was so lost in caring about his wife that he did not notice anything.

Maan talked to Dr. Kirti Singhania and gave her the details. She told him to continue with the given medicine and asked him to visit her tomorrow with Geet.
Finally satisfied a bit he told Geet everything.
He didn't let her move from bed for a second.

DINNER TIME

MAAN: Geet main mom se keh kar tumhara dinner yehin manga deta hoon.
Making a baby face...
GEET: Par Maan mujhe neeche jaana hai. Sabke saath dinner karna hai. Main aise lete lete bore ho rahi hoon.
MAAN: Nahin Geet tum yaheen aaram karo main koi risk nahin lena chahta.
She was going to say something...
MAAN: Please Geet baby ke liye maan jao.

She couldn't have denied after that so just lay there accepting his plea.

After sometime she saw loads of dinner coming to the room and gulped her saliva thinking now he'll make her eat all that.

GEET: Hey Babaji itna sara khana. Ye Maan ko kya ho gaya hai?? Itna sab kuch ek akela insaan kaise kha sakta hai?? Apni bachchi ki raksha ka...

She saw the whole family coming.

MAAN: Geet! Tum keh rahi thi na ki tum yahaan bore ho rahi ho to maine socha sab yehin dinner karenge. Tumhein stress bhi nahin hoga aur boriyat bhi nahin hogi.

Geet looked at him amazed...

GEET(thinking): Dekha baby papa ko tumhari kitni fikar hai?

Then the whole family had their dinner having a great time...
Everyone was elated seeing each other happy...

After dinner he let her leave the bed to freshen up...

MAAN(thinking): Main agar couch pe sounga to Geet pareshan hogi par bed pe uske itne qareeb kya mein khud pe qaboo kar paoonga? Mujhe Geet ke liye khud pe qaboo karna hi hoga.

He lay on their bed.
Geet's face lit up as she came out of washroom and saw him sleeping on bed.
Geet was moving towards couch when...

MAAN: Geet kahan jaa rahi ho?
GEET: Couch pe Maan.
MAAN: Par kyun Geet?
GEET: Kyun matlab sone..
MAAN: Geet maine kaha na tum bed pe sogi.. Yahaan aao..

Geet was getting shock after shock with his caring gestures...
She was rooted to the floor gaping at her husband...

MAAN: Kya hua Geet? Ye mun khol ke kyun khari ho?

She immediately closed her mouth...

GEET(nervously): H...a... Na...hin wo...
MAAN: Aake so jao kal subah jaldi jana hai.
GEET: Haan...ok...

She came and lay by his side...
The proximity was creating havoc inside Maan. As his eyes were gazing her the urges he had been holding after that day were getting uncontrollable for him each second.

MAAN(thinking): Geet ko maine bahot chot pahunchai hai jab tak main uska bharosa nahin jeet leta mujhe apne aap par qaboo rakhna hoga...

He closed his eyes and turned the other side to conquer his urges. Somehow he managed to divert his thoughts to other things...and managed to fall asleep...

Maan woke up and did his regular exercise (obviously Geet was ruling his thoughts all the while ;-) )...
When he came back to the room he saw Geet was still sleeping like a doll...a smile instantly lit his face seeing his sleeping beauty...he wished he could have let her sleep and admire her all day but they had to visit the doctor so he woke her up and asked her to get ready...

After breakfast they left for the hospital...

This time Geet was more confident while entering hospital because she knew she had to face all this to save her child...

They met Dr. Kirti she asked them to continue with the given medicines and said Geet will have to come for check up after every three days and she should not stay without eating something more than 4 hours... Doctor also advised Geet to have more iron and protein in her diet... She said if in two weeks Geet's health improves they will get some hope and can take the risk of carrying the child further but only after three months they can be fully confident about mother's and child's health.

Maan was quiet satisfied that his wife and child will be safe... Now he had to apologise to Geet for his every deed...
While coming out of doctor's cabin...

MAAN: Shaam ko tayyar rehna main tumko kahin le jana chahta hoon...
GEET: Par kahan Maan?
MAAN: Kyun Geet agar nahin bataoonga to nahin chalogi?
GEET: Nahin mera wo matlab nahin tha Maan main to bas aisehi...aap jahan le jaenge main chaloongi...

She said with determination and trust in her eyes... Maan was amazed with the confidence she had in him...
