Chapter 33

Viren didn't know what was wrong with him he had been having a feeling that something bad was going to happen again and couldn't get rid of the feeling. He had gotten extra careful with Nivi and the baby and had taken her to see the doctor at least 4 times a week until Nivi couldn't take his constant attention anymore and told him that absolutely nothing was gona happen to her. He had then started with Jiya and Dwita and told everyone that they should be extra careful with them. He had tried to dispel the feeling of doom but it was to no avail he had known that he was stressing Nivi with his behavior and had finally went to Keshav papa and had told him about his fear. The truth was he just couldn't believe how happy and perfect everything was he had this sort of happiness before once with Bhavri and than with Nivi and both times life stepped in and ruined everything and was afraid that it would happen again. When he had told this to papa, keshav had smiled at him and told him that he knew exactly how he felt since he had been feeling the exact same way and told him to come with him and had taken him to the temple and they had both been going there together ever since that day. Viren remembered with a smile the day everything had gotten better not only btw him and his parents but btw his parents and the rest of the family as well. It was the day after he had cut his hand he had come home extremely late from work and walked into the living room and had seen his mom asleep on the couch and went to her. He went and wake her up and asked her why she wasn't in bed and CC said u finally came and was it necessary for u to work such long hours when u had just hurt yourself, he couldn't help but smile coz it had been weeks since he seen his old mom back. CC looked at him and even though she had told herself that she was going to try to reach out to him she didn't know how and was uncomfortable with him so told him that she would get something for him to eat. She set his food on the table and would have left, if she hadn't noticed that his right hand was bandaged and sat down and told him that she would feed him his food. She didn't know what to say so said the first thing that came in her mind and asked him how he had managed to eat today and he said Nivi packed sandwiches for me today and they went quiet again. Viren than said mom if I said anything wrong please forgive me and I didn't mean to hurt u in anyway I love u very much CC said no Viren I should be apologizing I shouldn't have tried to ruin your relationship with Nivi and thank god for her. Viren than said what happened, happened and we shouldn't dwell on the past anymore cc smiled at him and said u right I have a lot to make up for to u, to this family and my darling dil. At this Viren couldn't help but laugh and said that I wish I had a tape recorder so I could tape u saying this and give it to Nivi and CC smiled and told him what was the need for a tape recorder when she would be calling her darling everyday from now on and than asked seriously if she would forgive for being so cruel and mean to her. Viren looked at her and said that of course u know her she is and cc said u right she is a very loving child and looked up and saw Jawahar next to them with tears in his eyes and Viren smiled and said hi dad. J said is this a private party btw mother and son only and said tentatively if he could join them as well and Viren said of course dad and he sat next to them. Viren by this time was so happy that his hunger had disappeared but couldn't say so coz both his parents where feeding him. He was quiet surprised by this gesture of his dad coz he had always been more close to CC since Jawahar hadn't been around a lot when he was young. And couldn't help but look at him Jawahar smiled knowingly and said I know we don' have this sort of relationship I have never been here for u, I have disappointed u a lot and Viren said no dad that's not it and J said don' start lying again and said me and your mom have realized our mistakes and I promise u that I will be the sort of dad u will be proud of and said someone like Keshav bhai. Viren smiled at this and told him I love u the way u are but it would be great if u and papa where not at odds anymore and Jawahar said that u don't have to worry anymore me and your mom apologized to him for everything we did and he accepted our apology. Viren was really happy and hugged his dad. Nivi who had been waiting for Viren from the time she had heard his car had finally decided to come down when she saw the trio together. She looked at them and was very happy and thought that it would be better if she left them and was going when CC said Nivi where are u going and everyone looked at her and she said that I thought that u would want to be alone with each other so did not want to disturb u. CC lowered her eyes and thought what a great girl she was, she is leaving coz she didn't think that I would want her here and instant of making Viren feel bad about it had said what she said now. CC wake up and went to her and took her hand and brought her to the rest of them and said that for whatever we have done to u please forgive us and Nivi said that there wasn't anything to forgive and CC and Jawahar both hugged her as tears fall from both her and Viren's eyes coz both of them knew how much she had wanted and how much it meant to her for cc to accept her as her dil. Just than the baby kicked and Nivi told them and both grandparents touched her stomach and dad said that their grandchild was happy coz they where all together. He then looked at Nivi and thanked her for bringing their family together and they all kissed her on the cheek and hugged each other.

Keshav had been coming to the temple coz just like Viren he didn't want anything bad to come into their lives again he knew how fragile happiness was and was praying to god to always keep his family happy and together. He remembered how everything had changed for him since the day Jawahar and CC came and apologized to him he had finally found peace with himself and them. He had started taking control of his life he had paid of all the debts he had and had even made manager at the place he was working at. He should have been happy and content with this but had been become restless and wanted more from life so when opportunity came knocking at his door he didn't turn it away. He and Pratap had opened up their company and had been giving advice to company on how to better manage their finances and where highly in demand. HL at first didn't like the idea of them working together and had nagged Pratap day and night until she had seen how much money they where earning and had been quiet from that day onwards.

He thought of the Sood's with a smile to say that CC had become the best dil in the world was an understatement she lavished her attention on ds and dadima and helped Vandana with everything and they had become true sisters. He had always known that DS had admired CC sharp mind but her coldness had prevented him from loving her but the change in her had made him truly love her and he had told him that he was truly at peace and knew he could die happily knowing his family was so strong now. Whenever CC needed advice or anything worried her she would go to mil or dadi and asked for help and found that they both were extremely wise and funny woman and said she must have been an extremely dumb person to not have appreciated them before. Jawahar on the other hand was doing extremely well in business and he, Sid and Viren united where becoming an unstoppable force and where becoming knew as the dream team of business and their business was bigger and better than ever. DS had never been so proud of his son he had known for a long time that he had been working hard but now was shocked at how he was managing Viren and Sid together. Sid to was really happy with the way things where going he had always had ds as his dad and mentor but there had always been a distance btw him and Jawahar which had worsened after he had found out what he had done to Nivi's dad. He didn't know what had happened to change him and didn't care coz he finally felt like he got a dad in Jawahar and whatever he had heard about his own dad he now saw it in Jawahar. DS had decided to change his will also but Jawahar had refused and told him to sigh it over to Sid and Viren but he had refused and told him as the eldest son u deserve it, it is your right. He told him u are finally the man I have always wanted u to be I know that u will manage perfectly when I am gone and Jawahar told him not to say such things. DS laughed and told him u are going to manage these 2 boys together Sid is level headed and hardworking, your son is sharp and a risk taker but u are both of them put together. I want u to be the head and that is final and he walked away from him. Keshav remembered how Jawahar had come home and told him what happened and told him that there was no way he could be the owner of the company he had ruined to many ppl lives and he had blood on his hands there was no way he could own it. Keshav had tried to tell him to accept DS offer otherwise he will feel upset and ask questions and J told him he knew that that's why he wasn't going to tell him anything. He was going to accept it but god forbid if something was to happen to DS he was going to make Sid the head of the company it was his right. Pratap who was also there finally realize that J had changed and told Keshav that if he wanted this they should support him and both Keshav and J knew that Pratap had finally accepted him and where very happy.

Chapter 34

The clock had just struck 12 and Nivi was wide awake she had a smile on her face as she leaned over and kissed Viren on the cheek and wished him a happy wedding anniversary. Viren opened his eyes just than and smiled at her and wished her a happy wedding anniversary as well. He got up and kissed her tummy and said to the baby happy wedding anniversary to u as well and laid his head on her stomach as he gently touched it, Nivi smiled at him and ran her hairs through his hair as they looked at each another lovingly. After a while he got up and went and slept next to her and they continued looking at each other in daze as if still wondering to themselves if they could still be so happy with one another. Nivi stopped smiling than and asked him if it was wrong to be so happy since di wasn't here with us. DD was always so full of life so much of fun we would have had such a good time if she was with us and asked with tears in her eyes why she had to leave us, Viren, why. Viren looked at her sadly and caressed her face and told her that I don't know, I could tell u some lame line that I don't understand myself coz they are just words but I won't. I don't know why god took someone so full of life from her family, I don't know why he made Dwita motherless, I don't know why he made DD leave Sid and made him incomplete. All I know is that your di was very nice she won't begrudge us our happiness and would want us to be happy not only today but always and they hugged. They stayed like that for a while and then moved apart and Nivi told him that I don't want to make a big deal about our anniversary its going to be hard enough for chacijie and Sid to be without DD today and before she could finish Viren put his fingers on her lips and told her I know that, that's why I made arrangements for us to celebrate by ourselves just u and me and brought her closer to him. Whenever Viren looked at her with so much of love she always forgot her sorrows and said really and asked him what had he planned and Viren said it's a surprise. Nivi said but I hate surprises I always get impatient and I want u to tell me what u planned now and Viren shook his head and told her absolutely not and then Nivi told him that the reason I want to know is not for myself but for your darling child. Viren skeptically told her really and said why would she want to know and Nivi said coz if u don't tell me I will stress about it and u won't want your child to be stressed out. Viren got up and said dramatically Nivi u blackmailing me and where did u learn such bad habits from and started tickling her and Nivi start laughing and told him to stop and Viren asked her if she was ever going to be so underhand again and she said no. When he stopped they just started laughing and once they calmed down he said I will do one thing for u though and said he would give her one of her presents now and Nivi got happy and told him she also got something for him and would give him now as well. Viren went to their wardrobe to get her gift and Nivi went to the dressing room table drawer to get his gift. Viren went and sat crossed legged on the bed waiting for her and Nivi came and sat on the bed and they exchanged gifts. They opened their gifts and both where surprised that they chose the same gifts they had both gotten rings for each other. He had chosen a diamond ring it was a 3 carat solitaire set in platinum coz it had grace and heart yet it was simple and classic just like her and judging from her expression he knew she loved it. Viren looked at his ring and loved it as well, it was an elegant gold band and he thanked Nivi for it and she told him shyly that she had gotten something written inside it and Viren saw that she wrote destiny and looked at her. She told him unlike other couples we never intended to get married but destiny had other plans for us and brought us together. Viren didn't know what to say to such a sweet gesture so simply told her he loved her and Nivi said that she loved him as well and told him that they should put the rings on for each other. Viren said before I put it on for u I want to say something to u, thank u my jaan for coming into my life and making it beautiful, thank u for making me appreciate the little things in life with your simplicity, thank u for making me believe that there is something as unconditional love in this world, thank u for tolerating my craziness but more than that thank u for being u. As he slipped the ring on her finger they Nivi had tears falling from their eyes and Viren told her that when I bought the ring for u I didn't expect to see tears falling from your eyes as he kissed them away. Nivi was very emotional and told him she didn't know how she would top that but she also wanted to say something to him as well. Viren from the time we met besides my dadi u have been the only one who has believed in me. I met a stranger on a bridge where men where attacking me and u defended my honor and looked at me as if u could feel my pain and within those few seconds we developed a bound, a trust that has kept us together through the bad times. To the world we might be an odd couple u where the life of the party and I was the girl who was afraid of even her shadow and we should have nothing in common but the beauty of our relationship is that we have everything in common. I am the luckiest person on earth coz I have u as my partner, a partner that pushes me to my limits, who understands me and makes me believe that I am capable of anything in life even when I doubt myself. No one has ever made me feel the way u do, u make me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world like I matter, my thoughts, needs, and dreams matter. So thank u for making me realize that I am not only a daughter, a dil, a sister, a wife but a woman who is her own person and should love myself as well. With u I find an inner peace, a strength that I didn't know I possessed there has never been anyone in my life like u nor will they ever be the only name that is connected to mine is yours so Viren thank u for allowing me to be apart of your life coz only with u have I realized who I am. She slipped the ring on his finger and they kissed each other very tenderly and held each other and thanked god for bringing them together.

It was morning and the first person Viren wanted to go and see was Sid so he went to his room and saw that he was looking at dd photo and wishing her a happy wedding anniversary. He looked up than and smiled at Viren and told him that he was just wishing dd and Viren went and sat next to him and took the picture and said dd bhabi happy wedding anniversary and told Sid as well and they hugged. They where both trying to hide their emotions and pretending everything was ok so when they let go of each other Sid said that they where going to have a great time today he was planning a party for Nivi and him and Viren said that actually bhai I kind of made plans for me and Nivi today. Sid said are u sure its just that u 2 weren't married in front of everyone Viren said that next year u can plan whatever u like for us but this year I really need to be with nivi alone its just that I have to do something for her and Sid smiled and said ok bhai whatever u like. Viren looked at dd picture and didn't know what possessed him to ask what would u have done if she was here today and than said sorry bhai that's so insensitive of me and forget that I asked. Sid smiled and told him its ok i don't mind and said I know that dd would have probably preferred a huge party with everyone and we would have done that but we won' have stayed long coz I would have taken her somewhere where it was just the two of us where we could be alone together and it would be like our own private party. Sid and Viren where so engrossed in their talks that they hadn't noticed that Sakshi was standing at the door, she had heard everything and felt so bad for Sid. Just than Viren looked up and saw her and said Sakshi bhabi and she said she just came to get Dwita's rattle and came inside the room. Viren told Sid that he was going to his room nivi must be wondering where I am by now and left. He felt like a complete ass and wondered how he could have asked such an awful questions and thanked god that Sakshi had come than coz he just didn't know what he would have said to Sid.

Chapter 35

Sakshi had been feeling bad the entire day thinking about what she had heard and she wanted to do something for Sid but didn't know whether she should or not. She took her phone and then threw it on the bed for the umpteenth time and said to herself if this was any other friend u won't hesitate to help them and even if he gets angry with u, u can always apologize. She picked up the phone again and dialed a number. Sid was in his car and was very confused Sakshi had phoned him and told him to meet her at this restaurant and he wondered why. He went in and opened the restaurant door and was shocked to see that the place was empty there were balloons and red rose's everyway and written on a banner was happy anniversary Sid and DD and in the middle of the room was a table where Sakshi was sitting. She stood up and was extremely nervous and went to him and said before u can say anything let me just explain I happened to hear your conversation with Viren this morning. Sid was so angry that he couldn't think straight and turned away to leave when Sakshi caught his hand and he was shocked and he looked at her and she immediately left his hand. Listen I know I don't have any rights on u nor do I have a right to do anything for u but I owe u a lot coz of u I am happy again I have Dwita and Jiya and the best thing about u is that u don't demand anything from me and just allow me to me and I just wanted to give something back to u. I have never heard u ask for a thing until today and wanted to give it to u and said u always say that DD is always with u so why shouldn't u and her have the sort of anniversary u would have had if she was really her. She held out her hand to him and said won't u trust me and they looked at each other for what seemed like eternity until Sid took her hand and she led him to the table and they sat together. They where quiet for a while and than Sid smiled slightly and said thank u, u right just coz she isn't here doesn't mean I shouldn't celebrate our anniversary and thank u for wanting to make this day special for me. Sakshi smiled back and told him that it wasn't a problem and he than asked her how she managed to get this restaurant only for them since he knew how difficult it was to even get a reservation to this restaurant. She smiled at him and told him that my dad is the owner's friend and when I asked him if I could use the place he told me yes. From the time they got married they hadn't talked much to each other besides the normal pleasantries but it hadn't ever been uncomfortable btw them either and tonight was no different. Whilst they eat they spoke about work and Dwita and as she told him what Dwita did in the day Sid got sad and revealed that he didn't like being so busy and wished he had more time to be with her. Sakshi smiled and said that once he, chacajie and Viren worked out a proper structure to deal with their work load she knew he would have a lot of time and he would have diaper duty from that day on. Sid smiled at her and told her he accepts the duty and wouldn't moan at all and Sakshi said wait until u actually doing it and if u don't start moaning after a day I will pay u 10 rupees. Sid said u very cheap and make it 20 and it's a deal and she said ok. After their meal was completed and they had their desert the waiter had taken their plates away she told them they could leave and she would lock up the place and they left. After the waiters had left she and Sid looked at each other and he asked her if she wanted to dance and she said yes. Once they reached the dance floor Sakshi was just about to go into his arms and than she stopped and told him she can't dance with him and Sid said ok we can dance later and was about to go when she caught his hand and said u don't understand I can't dance the first dance with u coz u should dance with dd. He looked at her puzzled and she said when I was in New York, for a long time I couldn't come to India coz I would be working at various companies during my holiday. With a break in her voice she said I missed him very much and even though we talked on the phone a lot it still wasn't the same so sometimes I should close my eyes and imagine that he was with me, talking to me or even dancing with me. She went close to Sid than and said close your eyes and I swear when u open it dd will be here with u and than walked away from him. As she walked away from him Sid closed his eyes and for a while didn't open it and when he did he saw DD she was wearing a white punjabi and she smiled at him. She looked so perfect like an angel and Sid said dd u came and she said of course how could I not come u called me and he grabbed her and hugged her tightly. When he let her go dd touched his face gentle and looked at him lovingly and said happy wedding anniversary Sid and he smiled at her and said the same thing and she asked won't he dance with her and he said of course anything for u. They danced with each other and Sid couldn't stop looking at her and just enjoying the moments.

When the song was over he hugged her again and told her to never leave him lone again and he missed her so much and she smiled at him and said how is it possible that I would leave u know I love u the most and am always with u. They walked over to the table and sat and stared at each other and he told her I love u to and she told him she knew. She took his hand and than went serious and told him she was very proud of him and the way he was handling everything and said so far in life u have gotten half of everything half of Nivi's love coz the other half belonged to me and than with me u got all my love but not my trust and said she was sorry. Sid said no don't say such things u were perfect and she told him not to gloss over things and said I want u to have everything in life I want u to have a partner who will complete u, trust u and love u the most in the world. She than said Sakshi is and Sid took his hands away from her and said no our marriage is nothing but a convenience and nothing more. DD smiled at him and said that maybe but god put u 2 together for a reason. Sid told her she is still in love with someone else and anyway no one will ever take your place in my life. She touched his heart and said the heart is a very big instrument it's not meant to love in the same way u could never love me the way u loved Nivi but our love was just as special, just as pure and powerful. She took his hand and said all I ever wanted to do was to make u happy but I couldn't make my wish come true when I was alive so u be happy for me and make my dream come true and kissed him. Her lips on his whereas soft as a butterfly and he closed his eyes and when he opened it she was gone and he felt abandoned like she left him all alone again and he thought his heart was breaking all over again. Sakshi was sitting on a bench outside waiting for Sid she was getting worried about him and was just about to go back inside when she saw him coming out and he told her that they should leave and walked to his car. Sakshi followed and felt awful she didn't mean to hurt him and she had just wanted to do something for him. They drove in silence and once they reached home Sid said he was going to see Dwita and she went to their bedroom. She was in bed rubbing lotion on her hands when he walked in and went to the bathroom to change and when he came back he went to his side of the bed and told her goodnight and put his light off. Sakshi wanted to tell him she was sorry but seeing his turned back she thought better of it and put her light off and turned as well. Sid was feeling so tired he was tired of always having to do the right, he was tired of always being perfect but more than that he was tired of allows following orders like a good boy. He followed ds orders when he knew he shouldn't have and then when he had loved dd he had lost her as well and now she told him to be happy without her. He felt like he was going to explode like he was drowning and needed to hold on to something and he wake up and asked Sakshi if he could hold her. She turned and looked at him and nodded and he put his head on her chest. Sakshi at first didn't know whether to touch him or not the only time she touched him was when she was asleep when she wasn't aware that she was reaching out to him so didn't know what to do now. Then she felt like water was falling on her chest and realized that he was crying and wakeup and said Sid u crying and wiped the tears away from his eyes as she told him how sorry she was she never ever meant to hurt him and he told her not to be it was the sweetest thing that anyone had ever done for him. She than asked him what was wrong and he said he missed dd very much as the tears continued to fall from his eyes she looked at him and then took his face and brought it to her shoulder and rocked him back and forth and caressed his hair and told him to cry it's good for u. I only realized that the day that we got married I cried for a long time and when I was done I felt cleansed like I had let go of everything. Even when he had fallen asleep she still held him in her arms and wondered to herself when had his pain become mine as she fell asleep herself.

Nivi was at a hotel and was going to a room that Viren had booked for them and once in it she called out to Viren but he wasn't there and then she saw a present in the middle of the bed and smiled and went to open it. She was shocked to see that it was the same punjabi that she had worn on her honeymoon when she was at the lovers shack and put it down and thought that maybe Viren hadn't realized it was the same dress. Just than the door opened and Viren came in and he was also using the same thing that he used on that day and they looked at each other and she put her head down as if trying to block out the memory. Viren went to her and lifted her chin so she was looking at him and said I know what u are thinking u remembering what happened before and she tried to deny it. He took her hand and made her sit on the bed and said that even though we are very happy I always feel bad when ever I think of what I did to u, to us. I nearly ruined the most pure relationship of my life and even though I know u have forgiven me whole heartedly the things I did are like a stains on my heart that I have to remove. I took something pure and defiled it and even if we are together for the next seven lifetimes it still won't be enough time for me to make up for what I did to u. No matter what reasons I had to be angry at everyone I should never have used u as a pawn in my game I should have found another way to get what I wanted. She looked at him and said that there is no need to think like that I always only remembers our good moments and not our bad moments. Viren smiled at her and said he knew that but I want to remove obliterate every bad memory that u have and I want to start with that night. Nivi looked at Viren and smiled and said she would do anything for him and asked him what he wanted her to do and he said he wanted to recreate that night for them and wanted it to end the way it should have ended. Nivi said but how will we do that and Viren said that this hotel has on its premises a place a lovers shack just like the one at the resort we went to and I asked them to decorate the place just like that. Nivi said ok she remembered each moment of that day and Viren put his head down and she lifted his chin and looked him in the eye and said I remembered every moment of that day coz of the love that was growing in my heart for u and not what happened afterwards. Viren hugged her and said thank u for forgiving me and she touched his lips and said u told me we are going to recreate that night if we do it I never want u to mention it nor remember it ever again and Viren nodded and they went to the lovers shack. They went in together only this time totally in love with each other and Nivi 6 months pregnant and Nivi went and prayed just like before for them to be together always and afterwards Viren dropped rose petals on her and Viren watched as she smiled just the way she did than and thought she was amazing. They went to have their dinner and just like before he sent the waiters away and they eat and danced together. Then they went back to the shack and looked at each other and than Viren picked up a remote and pressed play for the radio and Nivi heard thunder and then the lights went off and she went into Viren's arms and held him. They stood like that for a while and then stepped away from her and Nivi got scared and Viren told her not to be scared and that he would never leave her and went to a bag that was by the door and took out candles and Nivi smiled at him and said she would help him. They started at other ends of the room and met up in the middle where they had 1 candle left and Viren lite it as he looked at her he then took her in his arms and they just looked at each other. Nivi touched his face slowly and she touched his lips and than kissed him Viren than carried her to the bed and gently laid her on the mattress and continued kissing her. He than started kissing her neck and Nivi pulled him back to her lips and kissed him again. Nivi thought that their love making had always been special and magically but tonight it was just mind blowing it was almost as if it was the first time and afterwards they both just looked at each other and Viren asked her if she was happy and Nivi said she was and this was the best surprise ever and he smiled. Nivi than said how sure are u that it would have ended this way it might have ended with u and me just smiling at each other and going to sleep. Viren smiled at her and said don't try to fool yourself Mrs. Sood u have been mine the minute I laid eyes on u, u where mine the day u became by friend and u where mine the day that we got married only problem was u didn't realize it and as for how this night it would have always ended this way and kissed her again.
