On another note...don't a lot of Pakistani shows in general have MUCH older heroes like that Humayun Sayeed guy??
Were Ahmer-Zoya that different a pair by the standards of the usual shows there?

Humayoun Sayeed is older in age but he basically plays young roles like all the actors of Bollywood here. If a 46 year old Aamir can play a college guy in 3 Idiots, Humayoun Saeed can play a guy in mid/late twenties.. Mostly his roles have him of marriageable age like 28+ and I think he does play them convincingly no matter how much I hate having him in every show!

I have to say...I've watched 30 parts so far of DK and I get that it's a nice show but I don't understand why exactly it was such a RAGE either as is touted everywhere...lol...yes Dr. Ahmar's character is very classy and everyone would love him no doubt and some of the dialogues were wonderfully written...mainly from Ahmar's side and his interactions with his father or his musings...but beyond that I find the supporting characters just ok types...so why is this show considered SO great??

Actually I'm more concerned that the love story aspect was so popular. I really liked everything about the show but good lord the age difference made me feel a little uncomfortable. I even tried to put myself in Zoya's shoes but still couldn't envision myself falling for a man who was so much older than me no matter how charming, eloquent or classy he was.

And I find it refreshing that we have these older CLASSY men on TV...there's intelligence, there's dignity, there is dry charming wit...Personally that is what attracts me more...maybe I have a thing for older guys...lol

There is a lovely line they played from a Jagjit Singh ghazal..."hoton se chhu lo tum" at the end of the SBB segment:
"Na umr ki seema ho, na janm ka ho bandhan
Jab pyar kare koi, toh dekhe keval mann"
YRF show? At least that should be good to watch. I follow Kavi Shastri too, he used to be a prolific tweeter ( is that the correct term ???), now he has gone silent ! So I have no idea, what he is upto. Also *sheepishly admitting, I follow Mishal Raheja on twitter đ

LOL honestly speaking Sarah, I feel that Dr. Ahmar is the real USP of this show...the love story is ok...I don't feel uncomfortable with it but I don't particularly feel like REALLY rooting for it either...maybe cuz Zoya's character isn't THAT interesting to me...I was expecting more when I started watching the show especially given how literally everyone is always RAVING about it...but over time, I found myself feeling a little underwhelmed in bits...as for the love story...honestly the WAY a relationship is developed is what would pull in the audience or not I'd say...and to me, that aspect was just about ok...Zoya's turning point came when she spent that night in the hospital next to the sick child and Dr. Ahmar gave her back her jhumke in the morning...I personally wasn't that taken in with that turning point...since then I'm watching the show but not with deep engagement...I find Angie annoying in many bits...ditto for Irfan...he talks TOO much sometimes and I can't follow all the fast pure Urdu...that Fassi/Fazi whatever character that is of Zoya's aunt is annoying...baaki sab toh waise bhi theek hi hai...the bits I can say I've REALLY liked are those involving Ahmar's memories of his father and his thoughts over that.
