Shahid has two sides!

Actor Shahid Kapoor talks about how his on screen characters

Simi Selects India's Most Desirable on Star World mostly have Bollywood celebrities appearing on the show ranging from Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha, Abhay Deol, Anushka Sharma to Ranveer Singh and this week is none other than heratthrob of millions and many Bollywood girls, Shahid Kapoor.

During the show, Simi told Shahid that when she asked women that what was the most desirable thing they were looking in a man 'sensitivity' topped the list, and his role in the film Jab We Met and Vivah fitted the bill perfectly. She wanted to know that in real life how similar is he to his character? "They were beautiful characters and I connected with them. I understood them and probably learnt a little from them. There is a part of me in both the characters. I am not the same person in real life but but there is a part of me in my characters," says Shahid.

Simi further tells him that she yet thinks of him as Aditya Kashyap from Jab We Met deep and soulful. The chocolate boy smiles, "I am sure a bit like him."

Parents often are forced to make some harsh decisions knowing that their aftermath will affect the future of their children. And actor Shahid Kapoor learned this fact the hard way.

The actor comes from a broken home and still didn't allow this to become a hindrance in his life. He poured his heart on Simi Garewal's Simi Selects India's Most Desirable.

When the host asked him how did he overcame the difficult times after his parents (Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azim) separated, Shahid said, "Life threw a lot at me very early in life. My parents got separated. I came to a new city. I had to learn to accept and make the most of it and that's probably what's made me the person I am today. I don't expect anything good or bad from life.

I have two beautiful families instead of one, that's how I choose to look at it." Saluting her son's steely will, Neelima Azim said, "I'm sure that he must have gone through a journey, on the psychological and the emotional base where he must have faced a few demons within himself. Shahid has a way of figuring things out. He works a lot internally and spiritually with himself. I wouldn't like to make it all picture perfect, because when there are break ups and divorces and homes fall apart and people separate, it's very painful. So, Shahid has seen a lot but he's come through tremendously for where he is today and how he is. He's sensitive, soft, funny and extremely independent. And I'm terribly proud of the way he has come through a lot of difficult phases in our lives."
