I don't believe in that. Marriage is marriage. Religions have nothing to do with it. What if you just go and get a registered marriage, ignoring all traditions? Isn't it going to be the same for Hindu's, Christians, Muslims, etc? 🤔
There is a huge difference between registered marriage and marrying under traditional rituals! In a registered marriage, the entire thing is legal and is done in the court of law! If people of different religions choose to marry in a court of law, they have to get their marriage soleminised under something called the Special Marriage Act of India where the bride and the groom have to give in written that they do not profess to be of any religion or believe in it...and only then, can they get married!Originally posted by: -Untamed-

In anycase, John and Genelia's marriage scene was shot as a traditional wedding ritual (Maharashtrian as per the pictures!) and not as a registered marriage (which once again would have to be done in a proper court, under a real magistrate with real witnesses)I think its our bollywood films which have so romanticized weddings!😆 Many people are not aware that even a traditional Hindu Ceremony is not considered 'legal' unless, the bride and groom register their wedding in a court and get a marriage certificate! A traditional wedding is accepted by the society, but not by the law, unless, you produce it on paper!

Oh, am not commenting on the movie. You aren't married for real just 'coz your character is. 😆 Am talking about in general. Real life. :)

Obviously not! What is so crazy about it? There are laws of every land and in India, a Hindu couple have to be married according to Hindu rites and traditions for the wedding to be legal!
Similarly, if a Christain or a Muslim couple do not marry according to their own traditions and go and have a wedding at a temple, then it obviously would not be considered legal or even valid! The only way a couple can marry in a religion different from their own is when they convert their religion! Like Dharmendra and Hema Malini converted themselves to Islam and got married under the Islamic rites. SRK converted himself to Hinduism and married his wife Gauri under Hindu traditions (and then reconverted back to Islam...that is very common in a lot of inter-religious marriages actually!) and later she converted to Islam to marry him in a Nikah ceremony and then converted back to being a Hindu!A Hindu cannot be married under Islamic or Christain rituals as long as he or she is a Hindu (as per their birth certificate)Hence, both Genelia and John cannot be married under any circumstances through Hindu rituals! Even if one of them were a Hindu, even then the marriage would be completely invalid and null, for both society and legally too!
There’s something irresistibly delightful about Genelia D'Souza—a kind of effervescence that feels both rare and effortless. To me, she has...
