*edit*[PART 3]
Angad plopped himself back in his seat. Auntie had a few more empty wine glasses in front of her now. "So... kya hua?" she asked. Angad was irritated but he responded anyways, "Here are your bangles back." Auntie took the bangles from his hands as she responded, "Oh. Rejected, huh?" Angad pinched the bridge of his nose with his thumb and pointer finger. "Please Auntie, I don't want to talk about it." "Okay, " Auntie responded. "You don't have to talk, but I will!" Angad sighed, "Fine." "You know, when your uncle put these bangles on me and kissed my hand, I slapped him with the very same hand!" Angad placed his hand over his cheeck. "Funny," he said. "Are all girls this violent?" Auntie understood what had happened then and she giggled quietly to herself. "Every relationship needs a little tadka!" Angad shut his eyes as he said, "Well now there's no relationship, magar ek thappad ka tarka zaroor hai." Auntie placed her hand on his shoulder for reassurement. "She didn't even give me a chance! Who does she think she is? Now I will teach her a lesson, my style. No replicating your love story now. I write my own fate, and I will write my own love story. Kripa will regret ever slapping me," Angad fumed. Auntie did not hear a word of Angad's rant though as she had fallen asleep.
The flight finally landed in the Sydney, Australia Airport. Angad grabbed his luggage and walked right past Kripa, both of them avoiding eye contact. Angad was now in Australia, only for Kripa, but he had no clue where to go or what to do now. He sat down on an empty bench in order to give himself time to think. Angad did not even realize when Mishti sat down next to him. "Hey handsome," her voice trilled. Angad jumped a little in his seat at the sound of her voice. "Oh, hey Mishti! Kya kar rahi ho?" "Well I saw you sitting here by yourself, so i thought I'd give you some company. I'm not in a rush anyways." Angad just nodded in acknowledgement. "Well, I don't know about you Angad but I am starving! Do you want to go to the cafe right there?" Mishti asked as she extended her finger towards a little cafe in the airport. Angad shrugged, "Sure, why not?" The two made their way to the cafe. Misthi began to order her food, "Um, one Turkey Artichoke Sandwhich with chips and water. What will you have Angad?" "Oh, I'm not hungry." "Nonsense! Um, one basket of Chicken Tenders and fries for him," Mishti ordered. She opened her purse for money, but Angad interjected, "You don't have to pay Mishti! I can." Mishti was offended. "Kaunse zamaana mein jee rahe ho? We girls can pay our own bills, and are not ashamed to pay for others either. Now, please let me pay. I insist!" As Mishti pulled out her wallet, a business card fell out. Angad bent down to pick it up. Hotel Blue Star. 1204 Stonebrooke Avenue. Syndey, Australia, Angad read. His eyes glistened as an idea entered his mind. Angad smiled as he handed Mishti her card back, and the two sat down to enjoy their meals.
After eating Angad got up and said, "Well I better be off now. I don't want them to give away my reserved room at the hotel!" Mishti got up too as she responded, "What hotel are you staying at?" Angad tried his luck and said, "Hotel Blue Star." Mishti's eyes grew wide as a huge smile stretched across her face. "No way!" she exclaimed. "That's where I'm staying too! Let's go!" Angad sighed with relief because his plan had worked. He now had a place to stay.
Angad and Mishti arrived at the hotel. "Angad," Mishti said. "Please excuse me while I go use the restroom." "Sure," Angad responded. Thank God she left! I need to go book a room before Mishti comes back. Otherwise she'll know I lied. Angad ran over to the reception desk. "Hello miss! I'd like to book a room." A dorky smile emerged on the young receptionist's face when she saw Angad. Her fingers trembled a little as she searched the computer for an available room. "Room for one?" she asked in a hopeful tone. Angad shook his head 'no', and disappointment washed over the receptionist's face. She sulked a little in her seat, pushing her brown hair with caramel highlights out of her face. Angad leaned over the desk and whispered, "I have a date with this gorgeous receptionist tonight." He looked down at her nametag and continued, "Her name is Nicole." He leaned in a little closer towards Nicole before pulling away. Nicole stared up at Angad, who had just now winked at her. She giggled as she handed him his room's key. "Room number 28," she informed. Angad placed his hand on Nicole's wrist, and then slid his hand up towards the room key. Nicole's eyes became wide from this unexpected contact. "Thank you Nicole," he sweetly added. "I'll be waiting for you." Nicole watched in awe as Angad confidentally strutted away. While admiring Angad, Nicole completely forgot to add his name into the computer system saying that room 28 was now booked…
"My room number is 21!" Mishti exclaimed. "At least we're on the same floor." At least? Angad thought. Iska bas chale, she'd stay in the same room as me! "Well how about we do this, " Angad said. "We can go freshen up and then we'll go out and explore the city. I've heard that there are a lot of great clubs here." Mishti was already running towards her room as she yelled over her shoulder, "I'll come get you from your room at 10:00!"
Angad dove onto the queen sized bed that was located under an enormous window that looked out to the city. He pulled out his phone for the first time since it fell on the plane. 17 missed calls? 9 new text messages? Angad scrolled through the list of missed calls. Shabbir, Shabbir, Shabbir, Shabbir, Shabbir, Maa, Maa, Shabbir, Shabbir, Boss…. Angad sat up after reading the name of the last caller. Shit! Angad tumne iss faltu ke pyar mein apni job khatre mein daalthi. Great going! Shaabir's right: When am I going to learn that life's not all fun and games? Ab bhuktoh. Angad contemplated as to whom he should call first. Maa's probably worried, so I'll call her telling her that my flight landed safely. Phir Shabbir aur phir… boss! Angad went about making his phone calls. Maa responded tenderly, but Shabbir! "Angad, I told you not to go to Australia! Who just changes their plans so drastically at the last minute? Can you ever be practical? And when I called you telling you that boss was furious, you never responded! I don't know what world you're lost in Angad, but you need to realize that the whole world does not revolve around you. I don't even know if I can save your butt this time!" Angad sat quietly listening to Shabbir's rant. He knew Shabbir was right. "I know Shabbir. You've always been a great friend to me, covering up my mistakes and all. This time I really blew it though." Angad thought back to his meeting with Kripa in the bathroom. Angad and Shabbir had been best friends since the first grade, so Shabbir instantly knew from Angad's voice that something was wrong. His tone became gentler as he asked, "Kya hua Angad?" Angad sighed before he told the full story, from the first time he saw Kripa to the time he watched her leave. Shabbir listened intentally before responding, "Angad, kya zaroorat thi itna straight forward hone ki? You're usually so smooth around girls." "Kripa's not like the other girls I've been with." "You only met her a few hours ago Angad!" "Then why does it feel like I've known her my whole life Shabbir?!" There was a moment of silence as the two boys processed their discussion. "Look Angad," Shabbir said, breaking the silence. "I don't know why you're so serious about this girl. This is not like you at all, but I do like that you're finally stepping away from the fun and games." "I ruined everything though Shabbir." "Shut up yaar! Kuch nahi hua. If Kripa really means this much to you, then fate will bring you two together again. Jo kismat mein likha hai, vo hi milega." Angad nodded in agreement. "I'll stay here for this week. If I run into Kripa, then I'll think of it as a sign of approval from above. If I don't see her this week…" Angad's voice trailed off to complete silence. "The Angad I know doesn't lose hope so fast! I'll take care of things here with boss. Then when you and Kripa bhabhi come back, you can take over at work again!" Angad smiled and thanked Shabbir. "You always make me feel better dude." "I'm your best friend Angad! It's what I'm here for. Chal, I have to go now, but you take care Angad. And call me again tomorrow! Bye yaar." "Bye Shabbir."
"Angad! Angad!" Mishti shouted from the hall. Angad tried to block out her voice by placing a pillow over his head, but nothing seemed to be working. I finally fell asleep, magar Mishti ki timing! Angad grudged over towards the door. He opened the door to find Mishti in a short dark blue sequined dress. "Arrey vaah Mishti! You clean up well." "Thanks Angad. I wish I could say the same about you," she said as she analyzed his outfit. "You haven't even changed yet! You said we were going clubbing! The plan is still on, right?" "Of course the plan is on! Give me five minutes to change."
Angad stepped out of his room in light blue jeans and a black button down shirt. Mishti grabbed Angad's arm and started pulling him, "Chalo Angad! I'm in full party mood."
Angad and Mishti went to various clubs, drinking, dancing, and mingling at each of them. By the time they were done, they were both totally wasted.
"Kripa, don't be such a chicken," her friends called out. "I am not staying at that haunted hotel with you guys," Kripa argued. "I am going to stay in this hotel right here, and you guys are free to join me." Her friends watched as Kripa stepped out of the rented car. "Party pooper," Kripa's friend Harshini called out. "It's not going to be fun without you Kripa." Kripa smiled. "Well you guys can stay in this hotel with me!" Her friends snickered. "Sorry we're not as rich as you Kripa!" "We can't afford this!" "We don't all live like princesses, your highness." Kripa scowled, "You guys are just getting annoying. Go away!" The girls stared at each other before bursting into laughter. "You guys go have fun in your haunted hotel," Kripa insisted. "We'll come pick you up in the morning," Harshini assured. "Good night guys!" Kripa shouted as she walked into the hotel.
Kripa patientally waiting at the front reception desk, but no one was there. "Excuse me? Is anyone here?" A skinny man appeared from a back room. He pushed his glasses up as he mumbled, "Where is Nicole? She is so absent minded! She probably saw a boy and ran off after him. I need to talk to this girl." The boy finally reached the front counter. "Welcome to Hotel Blue Star. My name is Eric. Room for one?" Kripa nodded with a smile. Eric searched the computer for an available room. "Ah! You are just in luck miss. There is only one vacant room left. Room number 28," he said as he handed Kripa the room key. "Thank you," she managed to say before yawning.
"Misthi this isn't your room! God, you're so drunk!" "Please Angad, and you're not?" The two sat on the floor of Angad's hotel room, laughing and rolling around. "Really Mishti, where is your room key?" Mishti giggled, "I gave it to the cute bar tender at the Poison Ivy club! I told him to come visit me tonight, but he hasn't come yet!" Mishti started crying obnoxiously. Angad covered his ears with his hands. "Shh! Stop crying Mishti! You can stay here for the night." He looked around the room. "Tum bed par aur main sofa par! Perfect. Chalo Mishti, get up." Angad pulled himself up, using the bed for support. He grabbed Mishti's hand and pulled her up. Angad was unstable himself, so the two toppled over on to the bed. They laid there laughing.
Just then the door knob from the bathroom turned to open. Angad and Mishti's eyes grew wide when they saw who was standing in the doorway. Nicole emerged from the bathroom, dressed in a revealing night gown. "Hey handsome," she said as she leaned against the doorframe. "Should I leave?" Mishti whispered. Angad grabbed on to Mishti's waist. "No! Please don't leave me alone with her. Just follow my lead." Angad cleared his throat and looked over at Nicole. "Nicole! What are you doing here?" Nicole flipped her hair as she responded, "I knew you were waiting for me. I had been hiding in your bathroom, thinking I'd surprise you when you came in here. You never came into the bathroom though, so I thought I would come out myself." Nicole started walking towards Angad and Mishti. Nicole's eyes narrowed down on Mishti. "Who is she?" Nicole demanded. Angad followed Nicole's gaze to Mishti. "Oh, her?" Angad let out a nervous laugh. "She's my girlfriend!" Mishti caught on to Angad's plan and tried to play along. "Now if you could excuse us, my baby and I are kind of busy." Mishti started unbuttoning Angad's shirt. "Stop it Mishti!" he whispered angerly. "We have to be convincing," Mishti responded in a harsh tone. It doesn't help that Mishti is such a flirt. Just my luck. Angad thought. Nicole watched until Mishti was through unbuttoning Angad's shirt. Nicole sat down on the edge of the bed. "Well can I join in?," she asked. Angad and Mishti's eyes grew wide. Before they could respond Nicole inched her way higher up on to the bed. Angad's eyes grew even wider from terror. "Stop!" he shouted. "Nicole, I didn't really think you were going to come here tonight. I'm not interested in you!" Nicole tried to pull the blanket over her and Angad as she said, "Well I'm interested in you!" Mishti grabbed Nicole's hands. "White trash! Just get the hell out of here." Nicole tried to get out of Mishti's grasp. They were both sitting up, one on either side of Angad, who was laying on the bed in shock. What have I done? he regretfully thought to himself. Just then Angad heard Mishti cuss. He looked up and saw that Nicole had ripped Mishti's dress. Mishti's face was red from anger, so she attacked Nicole with full force. I mean I always wanted two girls to fight over me, but I didn't literally want them to be physically fighting over my body while I'm laying in between them. Somehow the two girls managed to push each other down so that they landed perfectly on top of Angad, the blanket delicately falling on top of their bodies.
Room number 28. Here it is! Kripa jammed the room key into the slot. She was so exhausted. I am ready for bed! she thought to herself as she flung the door open. What Kripa was not ready for was the people already in her bed. She dropped her luggage from shock. Angad, Mishti, and Nicole looked towards the door to find the source of the sound. Angad's heart fluttered when he saw Kripa, but then he processed her facial expression. She had a look of disgust plastered on her face as she examined the scene. Her eyes narrowed in on Angad's. You have got to me kidding me. Kripa ko abhi aana tha? "Kripa," he said. "This is not what it looks like." Kripa just put her hand up to signal that he should stop talking. "Did I ask for a justification?" she asked. "I don't care what you do or who you sleep with. I learned about your intentions on the flight. I didn't think any girl would be stupid enough to fall for you, but I guess I was wrong. Lucky dog, you have two girls in bed with you! You must feel great." Kripa was disgusted. Mishti tried to speak up for Angad. "Nothing was going on here, really! You just came at a bad time." Kripa folded her arms across her chest as she responded, "Oh, I came at the wrong time? I am so sorry for disturbing this session of yours. It was a rude interuption. Please, carry on." Kripa gathered her luggage and turned towards the door. "Don't leave Kripa!" Angad called out. Kripa turned around. "Why shouldn't I leave? I am not going to be a part of this. You're obviously having a lot of fun, so by all means carry on. Just please do me a favor and never come before my eyes again. I have had more than enough of you in these past few hours. You are a disgusting man, and I don't want to have anything to do with you." Angad tried to get up to stop Kripa from leaving, but his head was pounding from being drunk. Angad just laid there as he heard the door slam, meaning Kripa had once again left. "Thank goodness she left! There isn't any more room left on the bed," Nicole said. "So, where were we?" Nicole moved in closer towards Angad. He grabbed her face and pushed it away. "We were just about to call security. Should we continue or will you get the hell out of here yourself?" Nicole stared at Angad in disbelief. "Why did you tell me to come here then in the first place? Jerk!" Nicole got up and gathered her clothes from the bathroom. "That girl was right: You're a disgusting man. Who knows what you said to her, and then you led me on when really you wanted to be with this chick." Nicole gestured towards Mishti. "Make up your mind man! Stop playing with girls' feelings like this," Nicole finished before she too left the room. Mishti sat up and started walking towards the door. "I think I'll go ask the front desk for a spare room key for my room. Sorry about all of this Angad. Good night." Mishti gently shut the door behind her, leaving Angad all alone. Good night. Right. Nothing in the world could make this night good now. He thought before shutting his eyes. The alcohol helped Angad ease into a deep sleep.
