[PART 2]
"I'm here! I'm here!" Kripa called out. She had finally made her way to the North wing to meet her party, a group of girls who were impatiently waiting for her. "We are honored that you decided to make time for us, your highness. Tell me, would you like some caviar? Perhaps a massage?" Kripa's friend spoke sarcastically. Kripa sighed, "I'm sorry I was late guys, but look! The flight is delayed because of the storm anyways, so no harm was done." Kripa's friends achnowledged that point and shrugged off their last bit of anger. The girls were mingling amongst themselves when a strong hand was suddenly placed on Kripa's shoulder. Startled, she turned around to see who it was. Kripa was shocked when she saw the familiar face. "Aap?! Aap yahaan?" "Kyun? Were you expecting someone else? Have you forgotten that you're at work, so seeing your boss isn't that rare!" Kripa's boss, Mr. Shergill, joked. Kripa felt embarrassed. "Sorry sir," she responded. "Vo kya hai na, I just thought that I was going to be on vacation this week. Were my vacation days not approved?" Mr. Shergill sat down on a nearby bench before responding, "No, your vacation was approved, but we have a shortage of staff because everyone wants a summer vacation! We just needed some more workers on the flight that you girls are boarding anyways, so would you ladies mind working on this flight? You would be flying towards your vacation anyways!" The group of girls silently groaned. Kripa hesitated before agreeing to Mr. Shergill's request. He showed off his teeth in a huge smile. "I knew I could count on you girls," he called out before walking away.
"Attention passangers of Flight 9821 for Sydney, Australia, the flight will begin boarding in 10 minutes. Boarding for Flight 9821 in 10 minutes!" a voice on a speaker announced. Kripa grabbed her bag as she called out, "Let's go ladies!"
The passangers began boarding their flight, although the plane was not scheduled to leave for another hour due to the delay from the storm. A little girl, who appeared to be roughly 4 years old, sat crying in the middle of the aisle. The passangers, who were already frustrated from the flight's delay, were even more irritated when they could not get to their seats because this little girl was blocking the way. The passangers began shouting. "Iss flight par koi air hostess nahi hai kya?" "Where is this girl's mother?" "I want my money back!" "I'm never traveling Air Balaji again!" In the midst of all these complaints, a melodic voice beckoned to the little girl. "Hey sweetie! Kya hua? Are you lost?" The little girl sniffled as she nodded 'yes'. "Come with me," the sweet voice called. The owner of this voice scooped the little girl up in her arms and took her down to the security guards. She waited patiently with the little girl as the security guards traced the location of the little girl's mother. The mother came running and sobbing towards her daughter. "Oh thank you so much," the mother cried as she hugged her daughter. "I was looking all over for her! See bachaa, you can't wander off on your own like that!" The little girl just clung to her mother's neck. The mom looked back at this angel who had returned her daughter to her. "Really, thank you so much! You have gone above and beyond your duty of being just an air hostess. What is your name dear? I want to talk to your manager! After all, he should be aware of this gem that he possesses!" The air hostess smiled as she responded, "Please don't embarrass me ma'am. Anyone else would have done the same thing. We Indian women just get washed over by our feelings of mamta too easily!" she laughed. "But my name is Kripa. Kripa Sharma."
Angad ran onto the plane as if he was being chased by the mafia. I got to talk to maa, I informed Shabbir of my plan change, and I made it onto the flight! Now all I have to do is find Kripa. Angad thought to himself as he tried to find his seat. Angad looked down at his ticket and back at the seat that should have been his but was occupied by a very attractive lady. "Excuse me?" Angad called out as he made a note of making his ticket cleary visable. "Oh!" the girl said. "Am I in the wrong seat?" She looked at Angad from under her eyelashes. "I am just sooo tierd, and I love this window seat!" Angad understood that this girl was not about to give up the seat. Instead he asked the old lady who was in the next seat if she would be willing to give up her seat for him. The old lady moved without letting out a single complaint. Angad plopped himself down and turned to face the stubborn girl. He extended his hand towards hers. "Angad Khanna." The girl grabbed it as she responded, "Mishti Bose. Miss Mishti Bose." Angad rolled his eyes at her emphasis on her relationship status. Whatever, at least I have some girl to flirt with during this flight. Mishti talked non-stop about her likes, dislikes, etc., but Angad was not paying the slightest bit of attention. I'd rather be with Kripa than this chatterbox Misthi! Where is she? Angad looked around, but Kripa was no where to be found. The flight was still not taking off yet, so he just kept his eyes on the entrance. Maybe Kripa is just running late or something. She'll be here. I'm sure she will. Angad tuned back into what Mishti was saying in the meanwhile.
"Pardon me Mishti," Angad said as he got up. He held up his pinky to show that he was off to the bathroom. As he began walking, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Shabbir? Ab isse kya chahiye? As Angad was looking down at his phone, he did not see the stool that was placed in between the bathroom and the kitchen. His foot got caught on the stool, knocking over the air hostesses who was standing on it in order to reach the beverages on the top shelf. Angad dropped his phone, replacing the space in his hands with the air hostesses who came tumbling down. In the distance Shabbir's faint voice could be heard screaming into the phone, "Angad? Are you listening? I told boss that you would be coming to the meeting late, but he's very angry. You need to come to the conference as soon as possible! Angad? Angad?..." Angad, however, did not hear a word of what Shabbir said. Instead he was listening to his heartbeats pounding at a new rythem. "Kripa!" he whispered excitedly. Kripa stared at Angad with wide eyes. She clung onto his shirt with one hand and his shoulder with the other. The two stood there, gazing into each other's eyes. "What are you doing here?" Kripa asked in a confused tone. Angad chuckled as he helped Kripa back onto the ground. "I'm here to teach people how to make sushi," he responded with a serious face. Kripa gave a puzzled look. Angad's heart melted at her innosense. "I'm on a flight to Sydney, Australia, just like you and the other people on this flight. Aur kya?" Kripa blushed as she realized how stupid her question had been. Suddenly the pilot's voice boomed across the plane. "Hello passangers! I am pleased to announce that we are ready for takeoff!" Kripa and the other air hostesses made their way to their specified positions. "Angad, please take your seat," Kripa instructed. Angad shrugged as he walked. Ye toh abhi se order mar rahi hai. Aage jaa ke kya hoga tumhara Angad!
The flight had finally taken off and so had Angad's flirting. As Mishti kept blabbing on about herself, Angad continued to use the light above his seat that signaled that he needed assistance from an air hostesses. Kripa irritadedly walked over. "I have broughten you coffee, soda, peanuts, a blanket, a pillow, and cookies. What more could you possibly want?!" Angad looked up at Kripa, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "You," he responded. Kripa's jaw dropped. "Excuse me?" she demanded. Angad cleared his throat. "Oh don't flatter yourself," he sighed. "Let me finish before you jump to conclusions. What I wanted to say was that I want you to get me and the lady some wine." Kripa's eyes darted over to Mishti, who was trying to touch up her makeup before Angad looked back at her. Kripa was disgusted, but she replied through clenched teeth, 'Right away, sir!" Angad turned to watch as she stomped towards the kitchen. "Angad!" Mishti squealed as she grabbed onto his arm. Oh great, Angad thought. I just made Mishti think her flirting paid off. Just then Kripa arrived, slamming two glasses of wine onto their trays. Mishti's glass conveniently spilled onto her lap. Kripa gave off a fake apologetic look. "Oh I am so sorry! I'm just so clumsy. Feel free to clean your dress in the bathroom. It's right back there," Kripa directed. Mishti furiously complained about how her dress was spoiled as she made her way to the bathroom. Kripa let out a little sigh of relief when she saw Mishti close the bathroom door. Kripa's attention was brought back to Angad when she heard his booming laughter. "What?" she demanded. Angad just tried to play it off as if nothing had happened. "Can a man not laugh for the sake of his own pleasure? Laughing is healthy you know. You should try it. Let go of that gussa that is sitting on the tip of your nose." "Gussa?" Kripa questioned. "I am a very cheerful person!" she said in a serious tone. Angad bursted into laughter again. "Yeah, and Hitler was a comedian," Angad joked. Kripa felt offended. She turned around to make her way back to her seat, but Angad grabbed her wrist. "You made Mishti leave and now you're leaving too? Who should I go flirt with? That auntie over there?" Angad motioned at the same old lady he had asked to trade seats with. Kripa's eyes brightened at the thought of this.
Mishti came back to see an old lady sitting comfortably in her seat. "Excuse me auntie magar vo meri seat hai." "Acutally," Kripa interjected, "that over there is your seat. Now I request you to please take your assigned seat." Mishti's face turned beet red as she slugged to her actual seat, which was located right between a plump uncle and a little rude boy. "Why are your cheeks so red auntie? Are you a clown?" the little boy asked in a loud voice. Angad and Kripa tried to muffle their laughter when they heard this. Angad sat back in his seat and watched Kripa laugh. "See, " he said. "Laughing is easy, isn't it?" Kripa suddenly became serious again as she walked back to her seat. "You like her don't you?" Angad turned to see that the auntie was talking to him. He then looked down and saw that his wine glass was empty even though he had not taken a sip of it yet. Arrey ye to modern auntie hai! Angad said to himself. Auntie asked her question again: "You like her don't you?" Angad just smiled back. "It's that obvious?" he replied. "Nothing gets past me," the auntie responded. "But young man, you need to be more assertive!" Auntie ko kuch zyadaa hi char gayi, Angad thought. He smiled to acknowledge auntie's statement, but she wasn't done yet. "Aaj ka zamaana! Back in the day, your uncle was such a straight forward man. He saw me at the bazaar for the first time, and right then and there he grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me aside. He slid these gorgeous golden bangles on my wrists and gently kissed my hand," auntie blushed as she traced the same golden bangles that were on her wrist. "Aur phir kya! He was at my house the next day, asking my father for my hand in marriage." Angad was touched by auntie's sweet little love story. Auntie looked over at Angad and slid the bangles off her wrist. "These bangles started my love story, and today they will start yours. Go ahead my son," she encouraged as she placed her bangles in Angad's hand. Angad was shocked. "I can't accept this auntie!" Auntie slapped Angad across the arm. "Non-sense! Your uncle would be mad at me if I was selfish and kept these bangles for myself. I was going to give them to my bahoo, but I was never blessed with having children." Angad gently placed his arm around auntie's delicate frame. "How dare you say that when your son is sitting right here?" Angad smiled. Auntie's eyes started to be filled with tears, but she quickly stopped herself. "Well then, listen to this mother of yours and take these bangles!" Angad sighed with defeat and grabbed the bangles. "Thank you auntie," he said as he kissed her on the head.
Angad was off now. He got out of his seat and headed towards the kitchen in the back. Kripa was the only air hostess present in the kitchen at the time. Perfect! Angad thought. Kripa had not seen Angad yet, so he crept behind her. Right when he got behind her, she turned around, slamming herself against his firm frame. Kripa gasped from shock, as she had not realized that Angad was behind her. "What are you doing here?" Kripa demanded. "This area is for air hostesses only." Angad shrugged, "Okay, let's go somewhere that's NOT only for ais hostesses." Angad grabbed Kripa by the wrist and pulled her across the aisle into the bathroom. He locked the door behind them. Kripa's heart began pounding against her chest. She quickly reviewed all of the karate skills she knew. Angad took one step towards her and POW!!!! Kripa kicked Angad right below the belt. Angad let out a grunt from pain. "Kripa! Oh my gosh! Ahhh!" Kripa pushed her body as far against the bathroom wall as she could in an attempt to increase the distance between herself and Angad. He looked up at her, his eyes filled with fire and rage. He stood straight up and walked right up to Kripa. The bathroom was tiny, so Kripa had no room to escape now. Her hands clenched together in a fist. She was ready to protect herself, but her reflexes were not as fast as Angad's. He grabbed both of her wrists and pinned them abover her head. Kripa did not even process how or when this happened. She stared into Angad's eyes, which weren't as intense now. "Relax," he whispered. "What do you think I'm going to do to you? There's not enough room in this airplane bathroom to do much!" Kripa managed to mumble, "I don't know what you're doing, but please just let me go." Kripa cleared her throat and continued confidentally, "I mean, do you really think this is appropriate? I don't even know you!" Angad tightened his grasp on her wrists and said, "Then get to know me." Kripa was stunned at this response. Angad took advantage of Kripa's being speechless. I think this is a good time to bring out the bangles, Angad said to himself. Angad let go of Kripa's left wrist and gently slid his hand down her arm. Kripa flinched at his touch. "Shh," he whispered. "Trust me." Angad moved his hand towards his pants' pocket in order to retrieve the bangles. Kripa's eyes got wide. Oh shit! she thought. He's going to remove his pants! Kripa made use of her free hand and slapped Angad across the face. "You bas***d! Don't ever come near me again," she said as she pushed Angad out of the way. As Kripa was leaving the bathroom, Angad watched as she stepped on the bangles that fell out of his hand when Kripa slapped him. Kripa was oblivious though, and she kept walking. Angad watched as she slammed the door behind her, leaving Angad alone in the bathroom. He kneeled down to pick up the bangles. "Humaari adhoori kahaani," he whispered to himself.
