no yaar complexion too matters.....
If a person meet a gal {or vv} the 1st thing they notice is their face....nd not their charactor.....
People really likes fair complexion than dark....
A simple exawple:most of the telly nd bollywood actresses hav fair comp. ...
Tis is just my POV ....ther r many exceptions too...

Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder, rite. I prefer Rashi to Gopi who is fairer than the former.. India was a british colony, while brits changed their attitude, indians have still long way to go.. There are still discrimination going on in some parts of India on basis of skin color.. Kokila is a handsome beauty.. I like her when she smiles which is rare..

Dark or light is relative. Here, Kokila looks darker than Hetal and as the back story says, she is darker than her siblings. It is quite possible that as a new bride, Kokila was found wanting in comparison with Hetal because of her dark skin, if not by the immediate family, by friends and relatives. I would say that all over India (and even the entire Asia), fair skin is considered as beautiful and hence the roaring business of fairness cream and the multitude of ads we see in TV and other billboards. (I was surprised to see so many ads for fairness cream in Singapore and to hear about the same from my Chinese colleagues.)
As Nafisa and Eli said, in the US people advertise for tanning creams and in India, for fairness cream. The problem is not the complexion but the lack of confidence and insecurity.

I know they are, Urmila is fair, but her daughter Rash is dark too. Maybe its only because of the piercing eyes that see everything and the beak that gets poked in Rashi's business all the time.
