Library ( Mount College )
A disturbed Anushka walks into the library early morning. Kabir is in the reference section while T and Angad are getting photocopies of some notes done at the Photostat machine. Misha is sleeping with her head down on a big fat book of human psychology. Anushka is very unsettled as she goes to the librarian to return the books.
Flash : Abhay telling Anushka everything about Piya having seen him and Sam as supernatural monsters.
Just then, someone taps Anushka on the shoulder from behind and she turns. Kabir meets her with a big bright smile.
Kabir ( sweetly )- Morning , madam! Since you just disappeared yesterday after college and didn't answer my calls, I thought I'd just check up and see if you remembered we were friends.
Anushka ( recalling Abhay's warning )- N-Nothing like that , Kabir. Am just … ( rubs her forehead in tension)… well, tense. No… I mean , not well actually.
Kabir ( scanning her face )- First decide what you want to say, Anushka. Ill or tense?
Anushka takes her library card and turns away. Misha wakes up because Kabir and Anushka are whispering over her head.
Anushka ( anxiously )- B-Both. I will talk to you later, Kabir.
Kabir takes Anushka's hand and makes her sit on a chair . T notices this and narrows her eyes- inching closer to hear what is happening between them.
Kabir ( pulling a chair next to her and keeping his volume low)- It's your brother , isn't it? He has told you that we shouldn't be friends, hasn't he? I saw you both talk outside the college and I could read Abhay's angry jaws from a distance. Tell me!
Misha ( intervening )- Kabir! Have you left your brains in the deep freezer today? This is the college library . Don't create a scene here.
T ( pretending to look through books )- What's up with you, Kabir? Your girlfriend eyes Abhay and you are eyeing Abhay's sister?
Anushka gets angry at this and narrows her eyes at the book rack. Immediately , the whole stack of books falls on T , the edge of a book actually gashing T's forehead.
T ( falling )- OWWWWWWWWWWW!...
Kabir and Angad rush to her aid and Misha looks at Anushka in confusion as though she doubts that Anushka did something.
Angad ( helping up T )- How many times have we told you to behave yourself , T? See, how karma catches up with you!
T ( horrified at the blood on her forehead )- Shut up!.... Ohh ! Blood! I am going to die…Boo hoo! Call my Dad ! I need to be taken to the ICU.
Librarian ( sternly )- Tanushree! Enough! It is just a small gash. Angad , take her to the infirmary , okay?
Angad rolls his eyes and escorts T out of the library and all students return to their seats. Misha and Kabir pick up the books and start lining them up in the rack.
Anushka gets up and starts to leave but Kabir blocks her way.
Anushka ( irritated )- Kabir , don't behave like a child. I am telling you that all is fine. I am good . Just leave me alone for sometime.
Kabir ( glares at her )- I am not stupid, Anushka and we are not done yet.
Anushka just storms out of the library and Misha looks at Kabir.
Misha ( gently )- Why are you reacting so strongly to Anushka, Kabir? She is Sadu Raichand's sister , so the effect of genes will keep showing , okay?
Kabir ( looks hurt )- Yes, Abhay! He always takes away the people I like, doesn't he?... And what about you? I kept trying your number last night for a venting session but you never picked your phone.
Misha ( shaking her head and putting the last book in order )- Oh, I was…. ( struck)… I was…..
Kabir ( confused )- You were what?
Misha looks totally blank and just then, her phone rings. She goes out of the library to take the call and Kabir follows.
Misha ( taking the call )- Yes, matron….( her eyes wide open in shock )… WHAT? When? Damn! Which hospital?... Okay!
Kabir ( alarmed)- What's wrong, Mish?
Misha ( in shock)- Piya ! Piya has been hospitalized, Kabir!
At Special Ward , Doon Hospital
Piya is lying motionless on a bed , carefully cushioned in pillows and covered with a blanket. There is a glucose drip that has been administered to her. She is semi-conscious and a nurse is taking her blood pressure. Piya looks pale, sickly and disturbed. Just then, the door opens and the nurse looks up. Kabir, Misha , Pancchi, Madhu and Arnab enter the ward with a doctor.
Doctor ( calmly )- She was brought here with high fever and in an unconscious state. Her reports are clear as of now. I think the weather gave her a high fever and it almost went to her brain. But she is fine now. She can be taken home in the evening.
Arnab ( gently caressing Piya's forehead )- I am just relieved that she is fine. I was terrified out of my life when Mish told me on phone that Piya was in the hospital.
Madhu ( looking at an unconscious Piya )- Relax, Arnab. She is fine. High fever often does that to people.
Kabir ( looking sentimentally at her sleeping )- Aunty is right. She will be discharged by evening and we can take care of her.
Pancchi holds Piya's hand and sits next to her. Misha is trying hard not to cry and jokes.
Misha ( funnily )- Piya watches too many Balaji shows and likes to give shocks to all family members so that she can take black and white reaction shots of everyone. Drama Queen!
Everyone is forced to smile.
Pancchi – Mom, Dad. Both of you go home. We will stay here with Piya and get her home in the evening. We are not sending her back to the hostel until she is perfectly okay.
Madhu ( perturbed )- But the doctor said she is okay.
Arnab ( surprised at Madhu)- Madhu? Pancchi is right! We are not sending Piya back to the hostel in this state.
Madhu has no option but to nod her head.
Kabir – Uncle, don't worry. We will take care of Piya.
Arnab nods and leaves with Madhu. Kabir caresses Piya's head like that of a child and sits next to her with Pancchi.
Misha ( looking at Piya )- I wonder what happened to her, though. The matron said that Piya was found curled up on the floor of her hostel room. No point in asking Maya because Maya is visiting relatives.
Kabir and Pancchi look equally clueless. Just then, Piya's eyebrows knit and she slowly opens her eyes. She looks at the threesome around her and the white ceiling. As her vision settles, all the nightmares come back to her. Abhay and Sam's monstrous selves. She lets off a scared breath and sits up with a start. Kabir , Misha and Pancchi rush to her.
Misha ( relieved )- Piya! You okay?
Piya ( shocked to see Misha fine and feeling her with her hands )- M-Misha… you.. you okay? They did nothing to you? I am sorry ..( begins to cry).. I am sorry I left you amongst those monsters.
The three of them look at her as though she has lost her mind.
Misha ( surprised and calming her down )- Piya, I am absolutely fine. Look. Monsters? What monsters?
Kabir ( kindly )- You had a bad dream or something , Piya?
Pancchi- What are you talking about , sweetz? You have been unconscious for more than 12 hours. You had collapsed due to high fever.
As a shocked Piya looks at a confused Misha and clueless Kabir and Pancchi ,she realizes that Misha doesn't remember anything. Piya feels her head throbbing.
Kabir – Piya? What… what is bothering you?
Piya ( in a shaky unsure voice )- Abhay…. I …( shudders at the thought of his devilish form)…. I want to see Abhay…. Alone.
The three of them look at her as though she has lost her mind.
Misha ( amazed )- Abhay? You want to see Abhay? Are you….
Piya ( frustrated)-For heaven's sake , don't argue with me , Misha! Don't ask me any questions! Just get him here , will you?
Pancchi – But…
Kabir ( raising his hand )- Fine. If she wants to see Abhay rightaway , we get Abhay.
Pancchi and Misha wonder what has come over Piya and why is she looking scared and violent at the same time. Kabir takes out his cellphone and dials a number with a sullen face.
Kabir ( speaking in to the phone )- Abhay?
TIME LAPSE.
Piya is sitting curled up like a rabbit , hugging her knees in a blanket. There I nobody in the room now. The drip has been taken off her. Piya seems to be shivering and her eyes are blood shot with all the crying and trauma. Just then, the door of the ward slightly opens and Piya recognizes the tall imposing shadow that appears. She cringes her toes and seems to cow down in fear as Abhay slowly enters the ward , closing the door quietly behind him. Piya almost bangs herself to the back of the bed , looking at Abhay with her big psyched eyes and her whole body shivering. Abhay looks at Piya and he feels terrible seeing her in that state and he feels a lump rise in his throat. He can see how scared Piya is and he raises his hand calmly to indicate to her that he is not coming any closer.
Abhay ( keeping a calm low voice )- Relax, Piya. You are safe and you have no danger from me. ..relax…( Piya finally lets out her breath as she strangely feels relieved). I am not going to hurt you. I am not coming anywhere closer to you. Okay? Take a deep breath and relax.
Piya ( her voice quivering )- Wh-What are you, Abhay?....S-Sambhav, is… is he an animal ?...what happened in the jungle last night?... ( begins to cry holding her head )… who were all those monsters? What did you all do to Misha? Why doesn't she remember anything? …( holding her mouth as if to stop herself from throwing up at the thought of all the blood and evil faces she saw last night)…. Are you going to kill me?
Abhay is devastated by Piya's state and wants to take her in his arms and comfort her but he knows he has to handle the situation differently now.
Abhay ( matter of factly )- Our worlds were not meant to meet , Piya. But now that they have , you might as well know the truth. Me , my parents , Sambhav , his gang , my sister Anushka. We are not like you and rest of the normal people. I am a vampire – a blood sucking beast and so are my parents. Anushka is a superlative witch. Sambhav and his men are the oldest clan of werewolves …. And yes, we all live amongst you human beings – trying to live , trying to survive , trying to figure out whether immortality is a gift or a curse. …( looks at Piya's frozen face )…. Tough to understand? Sounds straight out of some fantasy book that you read at high school? … ( goes and stands at the window with a pained expression on his face )….Fact is stranger than fiction, Piya and this is the truth.
Piya ( numb )- V-Vampire? You are a vampire?
Abhay ( not wanting to look at her face )- I don't need to prove it, Piya. You have seen everything with your own eyes and it was REAL. The Abhay that you crave and yearn for is nothing but a blood sucking beast who hides behind a normal face. The Anushka and Sambhav you so lovingly meet everyday are not human – one is a live power and the other a fierce monster. Misha remembers nothing because we erased her memory so that she can get on with her normal life…. I wanted the same for you and I have done it to you before as well but I guess you were just meant to know the supernatural.
Piya is too shocked to even react to what Abhay is saying.
Abhay ( looks at her but takes no step closer to her )- Now, you know that why we can never be together. I am the UNDEAD and I am not your fairytale …( looks at her scared and shattered face )… we are not going to hurt you. At least , me , Anushka and Sambhav won't. What I have told you is just for you. Keep it to yourself so that everyone around you can lead a normal life. The human world is not meant to collide with us.
Piya is just listening to Abhay with her face drained off all the colour and tears rolling down her cheeks.
Abhay ( his face softens )- We all forget nightmares , Piya and like that , you will forget me as well. I am sorry that all this happened to you. Forgive me. But it is for the good… gives her a sad but hopeful smile)… now, you can move on from the dark and have that normal happy life that you always wanted.
Piya ( covering her face )- Go away, Abhay. I wish I never knew you! ….( cringing away from him)…. GO! I am terrified of you… PLEASE GO! Monster! Don't kill me! GET OUT!
Abhay nods and turning on his heels , he walks out of then hospital ward…. Piya cries in stifled sobs holding her head.
At Raichand Mansion
Chaand and Haseena are standing over Danish's head as he sits in their living room. He looks confused , stressed but there is no fear on his face. He appears normal and settled now.
Chaand (rounding up Danish )- You feel okay?
Danish ( nods looking at the fireplace)- Maybe. Trying to grasp the fact that am not human anymore. That I have been turned into a vampire…..and strangely , I am not scared…(touches his heart a tad sadly)… maybe because it doesn't beat anymore.
Haseena ( pats his back)- Don't get emotional, Dan. Let go. You are not human and you need to be cold and rational to tackle Abhay and his enemies.
Chaand – You very well know what you have to do , right? Break your engagement with Pancchi . Do what we say and above all, protecting Abhay from his enemies, Piya and Maithli.
Danish( stands up)- Abhay will not agree and he hates me with his guts , thanks to Maya and Piya.
Haseena – Don't worry about that, Danish. Abhay listens to me and he will. But you, being a new vampire need to control your urge to attack human beings. Their smell evokes the beast in us , so don't do anything stupid.
Danish ( confused )- I am not sure , mam. I can control the urge I think but I don't promise that I won't bite human beings.
Just then, a disturbed and traumatized Abhay enters the mansion and the moment he looks at Danish , he recalls the attack on Piya in the jungle that led to his and Piya's 'connection' . Abhay lunges and grabs Danish's neck , pinning him to the wall.
Chaand ( alarmed )- Abhay!
Haseena ( pulling away Abhay )- Abhay! Put Danish down… NOW!
Abhay suddenly realizes something and releases Danish who stands where he was and doesn't fall with the force that Abhay unleashed on him.
Abhay ( falling back in shock )- What the!.....H-He is not human anymore , is he? … ( confronting his parents )….. Why doesn't he have a pulse? You….
Danish ( rubbing his neck )- They turned me into a vampire, Abhay. …( bitterly)…i witnessed something that I shouldn't have. And now, am like you. A blood sucking beast….All is over for me.
Abhay looks at his parents , horrified.
Abhay ( bellows )- Converting him into a vampire? This is INSANITY! Why did you have to make him a part of the undead ?
Chaand ( raises his hand )- Abhay. Enough. Don't sermonize. Customs and rules don't change for anyone. Danish reaped what he sowed. And now, coming to the point , from now on, Danish is your protector.
Abhay looks at Chaand as if he has lost his mind.
Abhay ( flabbergasted )- Come again.
Haseena ( coolly )- Danish. Is.Your.Protector. Audible enough?
Abhay ( blows off )- Danish as my protector? He would kill half the world if he could and he is going to protect me? BAH!
Chaand ( shaking his head )- Don't get unruly! We are letting Piya live even after you have convinced her that Twilight and Vampire Diaries are for real. Isn't that enough?
Haseena – You told her everything , haven't you? And she is still alive… breathing.
Abhay ( gets the point and seethes )- OK FINE! Danish it is!
Danish smiles with a dark smile as he nods at a ferocious Abhay.
Mount College.
Next day , it is regular morning at Mount College. Students are pouring in for lectures. A visibly shaken Piya is walking into the college with Misha and Kabir who are fighting over who is hotter – Rihanna or Keisha. Piya is trying to appear normal.
Kabir ( dreamily )- Rihanna!
Misha ( angrily )- Keisha!
Just then, Piya senses something and she stops in her tracks. Her eyes wide with realization, she slowly turns around and sees Abhay walking into the college gates. He looks at her and she looks at him. Abhay notices hoe fear clouds her face and her feet retreat. She begins to back away and turning on her heels she runs into the corridor , surprising Kabir and Misha.
Misha ( shouting after her )- Piya! Hang on, there is still half an hour for the lecture to start.
Kabir looks at Abhay and his face hardens. But Abhay is looking at Anushka and Sambhav who are around and have noticed that Piya is terrified of Abhay. But before they can even have another thought, a red sports car zooms into the college and they all are taken aback. Sam and Abhay are alarmed. As everyone looks, the windows are rolled down and the door of the driver's seat opens. A tall stunning dusky girl with an hourglass figure – big cat eyes , a rose bud mouth and bouncing brown hair steps out dressed in a crisp white shirt and a black pencil skirt. She nods at Abhay and Anushka and winks at Sam whose grey eyes get clouded with anger.
Sambhav ( clenching his fists )- What the hell is she doing here!
Misha ( looks at her while leaning on Tracker and gang )- Aha, T has some serious competition with Anushka and this Egyptian import , hmmm?
Tracker ( jumping )- EEEEEEEEE! Isn't her shirt a Chanel?
Abhay just rolls his eyes and goes away but Sambhav approaches Natasha with a tight face.
Natasha ( giving the keys to a drooling Angad )- Park the car!
Misha notices that Sambhav and Natasha are actually approaching each-other. Her naughty face goes serious and darker. Sambhav and Natasha come face to face.
Natasha ( putting her arms around Sam's neck )- Holla Wolfey! See, attending college for the 55th time in my endless life , just for you!
Misha looks upset and rather irritated and almost sinks her nails into Tracker's shoulder.
Tracker ( recoils )- Ouch! Misha!
Sambhav removes her arms from his neck and grabbing her arm takes her to a lonely corner. Misha follows them , throwing her bag at Tracker to take to the class room.
Misha ( blowing hot and cold )- How does that Sophia Loren wannabe know Sam!
In a dark lonely corridor.
Abhay is standing , leaning against a pillar in a lonely corridor of the college. He looks thoughtful, pensive but determined. Anushka comes rushing to him and she looks very stressed.
Anushka ( raising alarm )- Abhay , why are you not reacting? Natasha is here! You understand the meaning of this? The Bolshvaz mean business.
Abhay ( nods )- I had seen it coming, Anushka. They don't need to hide. They are out in the open. Openly challenging the werewolves.
Anushka – But it's not just about Sam and his men. Did you see the look that she gave us? Natasha is BAD NEWS. She is an out and out vixen. The strongest Bolsh vampy after 'him'.
Abhay – Don't react until she acts…. ( changes the subject )…. And I have called you here for something else.
Anushka ( looking at Abhay's face )- Don't give me that look, Abhay. I hate it when you look at me like that. I am not going to do anything crazy for you.
Abhay ( holds Anushka by her shoulders )- Do it for me, Anushka….(dramatic pause)… Deactivate my connection with Piya. Release her.
Anushka looks at Abhay in horror and her mouth falls open in shock as her eyes go wide in disbelief.
Anushka ( getting a blackout in her head )- D-Do what , Abhay?
Abhay ( with a straight face )- Deactivate my connection with Piya.
Anushka ( grabbing Abhay by his shoulders and shaking him)- ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? Do you even know what you are saying or are you freakin' drunk? …( holds his face in her hands and makes him look into her eyes)…Deactivate yours and Piya's connection? Are you an infant vampire or do you take me to be retarded?... LOOK AT ME WHEN AM TALKING TO YOU!
Abhay ( pained )- Piya knows who we are , Anushka. She is unable to deal with this reality and she is terrified of the very sight of me. The connection won't let her detach herself from me and she will find herself bound to me against her will. She will go insane, Anushka! I just have to release her!
Anushka ( screams with tears springing up in her eyes )- I don't care! I don't give damn about what happens to Piya Jaiswal if it means sacrificing you! ….( overcome with emotion)….don't do this to yourself , Abhay. I am fine with a hateful bitter Abhay but I cannot handle this martyr side of yours. You do understand the meaning of deactivating the connection of a vampire and a human being? You will lose your immortality and eventually your life because your own clan will finish you! ….And do you forget that 99% human beings don't survive deactivation of the connection! Piya will die and I can predict it standing right here.
Abhay ( stubbornly )– And staying connected with me , she is going to go crazy! Scared of me and attracted to me at the same time!
Anushka ( with fierce finality )- LET HER! If she dared to love you, let her deal with reality – She has chosen this destiny! But get one thing clear in this martyr head of yours….( pats his head gently )… I can sacrifice anything , anyone in this world for you, Abhay and that includes Piya. And come what may , I will always stand between you and your stupid self-sacrificing nature. You understand me?
Abhay can see how fierce Anushka can get.
Anushka ( compassionately )- You know that you are my only weakness, Abhay. Don't take advantage of it……( firmly )…. You don't even remember the word DEACTIVATION. Understood?
Abhay understands that if he opens his mouth once more , Anushka will actually make him forget what deactivation means in the English language.
