Last night I dreamt I saw the shadow
Of a white unicorn across the meadow
I rushed through the castle doors
My slippers clattering on the floors
The window looked down on the porch
I saw no one by the light of the torch
I returned to bed dejectedly
How come I chased a dream so foolishly?
In the morning I heard the lark sing
I lay there on my pillows wondering
About what I had seen the previous night
I smiled as I remembered the wondrous sight
I padded my way to the window sill
I looked at the yard and I went still
It wasn't from my imagination borne
It was real - that beautiful white unicorn
By the water fountain it quietly sat
I reached out my hand to gently pat
It looked pristine and regal without a spot
A glimpse of divinity I had got.
