SS part 2
Prithvi is left wondering what his brother will do now, but then decides that Sameer is the player in these all matters and maybe he will do something useful for his brother now. He does as he is told and gets ready after 30 mins and waits for Sameer to come. Sameer comes a few minutes and tells Prithvi to follow him slowly. They sneak out of the house and Sameer drives and takes Prithvi on the way to Damini's house, but parks in an isolate street near the house . Sameer then calls someone and then tells Prithvi to wait for him in the car and got out. 5 mins later he comes and tells Prithvi to come out. Prithvi comes out and starts questioning Sameer about why they were here, when he notices his sister-in-laws Avni and Roshni standing nearby. The brothers walk over to them and now Prithvi understands Sameer's plan. Sameer had somehow gotten the sisters to bring Damini here, maybe on the pretext of a walk or something, so that they can meet without the knowledge of the elders, but he couldn't see Damini anywhere. He starts looking here and there for Damini, and the trio smile mischievously at this act of his. Avni said 'Jeej, kya hua? Kise dhund rahe hain?'
Prithvi blushes at that, and Sameer said 'Arre bhai ab sharma kyun rahe ho? Bol do na ki bhabhi ko dhund rahe ho. Ismain sharam kaisi?'
Prithvi colores more on that, and pinches Sameer.
Sameer, rubbing his hand where his brother pinched him, 'Ow bhaiya kya hain main to sirf help kar raha tha.'
By this time Damini comes in the street, looking for her sisters who had told her to wait in the next street, but she got impatient and came venturing here. Prithvi sees Damini, and a smile lightens his face. Damini notices her sisters standing with her to-be and her brother-in-law, and she smiles instinctively to see Prithvi, but then wonders what was happening (n also that Prithvi looked so handsome in this black shirt). Seeing her Sameer says he's going for a walk nearby and slipped away, followed by Avni and Roshni. Damini looks at them going away, and Prithvi meanwhile comes toward her. Damini turns back towards Prithvi, and asks 'Yeh kya ho raha hain Prithvi? Tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?'
'Kyun tum mujhe dekh ke khush nahi ho?' he saysacting sad and looks down dramatically.
Damini rolls her eyes at his antics and says 'Prithvi!! Kaisi baatein kar rahe ho? Bolo na kya hua aur tum yahan kaise?'
'Mujhe bhi nahi pata Damnee, just that maine Sameer ko bola I was missing u and he dragged me here, and I think Roshni and Avni helped him in bringing u here.'
'What? Uff yeh Roshni bhi na, isiliye mujhe walk pe aane ko force kar rahi thi.'
Pulling her closer by the waist, Prithvi says 'Kuch galat nahi kiya tumhaari behen ne' and winks at her.
'Prithvi!'
'Acha, um, do minute ke liye apni aakhein band karo na.'
'Kya? Kyun?'
'Arre karo na, please.'
'Uh haan thik hain.' She closes her eyes, and he reaches for something in his pocket. He goes behind her, and gently secures a chain on her neck. His touch makes her shiver and she bites her lip. She opens her eyes when she feels him draw his hands away and feels her neck to find a lovely pendant on which were the letters *PD*
She turns to face him, and finds him waiting nervously. She looks in his eyes and huggs him tightly. He is surprised but wraps his arms around her and holds her tightly. A few minutes later she pulls away and looks at him and says 'Prithvi yeh ky...'
He cuts her by saying 'shh, Damnee, tum sirf yeh batao ki yeh tumhein kaisa laga?'
'Par Prithvi iski...'
'Arre Damnee iski bohot zarurat thi. Shaadi ke pehle maine tumhein kuch nahi diya, iske siwa! Aur jahan taq mujhe pata hain u love gifts. Ab bolo yeh kaisa laga?'
'Thanks Prithvi. Yeh bohot sunder hain. I love it.'
Prithvi smiles and moves closer and says 'And what about me, huh?'
Innocently, she aks, 'What about you?'
'Don't play dumb, miss Damini.'
Still acting, she says 'What are you talking about Prithvi?'
'Um I gave u something, now I want something back, and I know what exactly I want.'
Moving still closer he keeps looking in her eyes. His hand touches her face lightly, and she closes her eyes at his touch. He smiles unknowingly, and plants a kiss on her cheek. Her eyes flutter open then. He moves his face closer to hers, and just when their lips are about to meet, they hear footsteps coming closer. Prithvi closes his eyes in despair and moves away from Damini. They both turn to see the others come from their little 'walk'. Sameer says 'Bhaiya bohot der ho gayi hain aur ab humein ghar chalna chahiye.'
Avni says 'Haan di, mumma humaara wait kar rahi hogi, wo abhi taq soyi nahi.'
Damini nodds and turns towards Prithvi, who was glaring at Sameer for his perfectly wrong timing. The others come near by now, and Damini whispers 'Bye Prithvi.'
The sisters turn to leave when Prithvi gets a bizzare idea and says 'Arre wo kya hain?' He points in the other direction and everyone turn to look what it was. While everyone are busy looking elsewhere, Prithvi turns Damini and plants a swift kiss on her lips and again turns to look where he had pointed, while Damini is shocked at what just happened, and a second later blushes furiously. Sameer, Avni and Roshni turn by then and ask Prithvi 'What?'
Prithvi shrugs and says 'Pata nahi kuch tha udhar. Choro.'
Damini is sill dazed but her sisters pull her along saying 'Bye jeej. Bye Sameer.'
Prithvi smiles at what he has just done, but Sameer also pulls his brother to the car and they head homewards.

"Prithvi....utho please....it's Diwaliiiii"
Prithvi fluttered his lashes open as he heard his wife calling him the 3rd time since morning. He realized that he couldn't push his luck any further and finally got up to behold a beautiful sight on this Diwali morning. There sat his Damini, dressed for the day combing her wet hair near the dresser.
He went up to Damini and hugged from behind and smiled at her through the mirror. "Happy Diwali Damini".
"Happy Diwali to you too" she said with a smile " And This one is for you Prithvi" she said shyly as she handed over him his new kurta, "Hope you like it".
"It's perfect for me Damini..just like you."
. " Ohh, before I forget... I have gone ahead and bought new clothes for the family...Tumhe time mila nehi hoga kisi ke liye kuch laney ki"...Damini said pointedly. Prithvi just responded with a "Thank you....I love the way you take care of everyone Daminee." , The response left Damini a little disappointed.....(uhh....what about me Mr. Saxena??!!😕)....but it was a long day and she could not be fanciful. There was lots of work to be done.
"Now go & shower Prithvi....we need to go down for the Puja."
"Hmm....Damini...you know.....I have noticed something. You are mostly asking me to go to sleep or asking me to take shower. Do you like cuddling up to me & watching me discard my clothes that much Damini?", he asked naughtiness dripping from his voice.
"Prithvi...tum..tumm" was all she could say as she groped for an appropriate response. & Finally.. "aaj Diwali hai Prithvi...achi achi batein karna na chahiye".
" Main achi batein to kar raha huin na Damini......these are very happy thoughts for me my dear wife."
"Badtameez.....jao ab...please."
As he walked towards the washroom, she dropped her little atom bomb on Prithvi, "Aur jaldi ana neenchey, I have made sweets for Diwali. Your favourite ones too."
Prithiv smiled when he heard this thinking about how Damini had told him once she cant cook. The memory made him mutter, "Then it's best I don't come down today." As soon as he realized that he had said those words aloud, he turned to check if Damini had heard him.
Unfortunately for him, Damini had. She looked angry and hurt her face pale at his words.
"Damini, I was just kidi..."
She stopped him mid sentence by telling him, "Never mind Prithvi. I know I am a not a great cook but I tried, only for you. But now that I know how you feel, I won't bother in future." She turned and left the room with those parting words.
"But Damini I was joking...seriously. Isiliye Pritvi....you shouldn't be don't I cracking these silly jokes all the time, they always have the opposite effect." He said to the empty room.
He came down 45 minutes later to find the entire family gathered together for the puja. Elaji offered her respects to God and prayed for the well being of her children & their prosperity.
Post the ceremony, everyone gathered together to wish each other and have prasad. That's when he heard Sameer exclaim, "Bhabhi aap itne saarey sweets banaye hai. Wow...Bhaiya your favourite sweets are here too...Malai Makhan😉!! Toh phir bhabhi..aap ne Varun ko kyuin bheja halwai se ek aur box mithai lane ke liye.
Damini looked her husband and said, "The sweets from the Halwai are especially for Prithvi....ussey who box de dena toh Avni."
Prithvi knew he was in deep trouble just as Avni immediately knew something was amiss. But she also knew better than to argue with her sister presently. So she handed over the mithai box to Prithvi who responded with dry "thanks" and a fake smile, darting pleading looks at his wife all the while, asking her forgiveness.
The 3 couples received blessing from Elaji & exchanged gifts. Roshni hugged Damini after she received her gift and announced "Diiii....you got me such a lovely dress & Jeej got all of us loads of crackers. Avni Di & Sameer Jeej also got me great presents & Varun got me a necklace. I have the best family in the world"
Damini hugged her back and said "You deserve it all princess and I am glad Varun got you something. You are lucky in love."
Prithvi who overheard this, just gave his characteristic smirk.
Late in the afternoon, the girls set out putting diyas across the house and the boys were delegated to overseer the decorations & lighting outside. The girls finished early and went up to get ready for the evening celebrations. Damini was contemplating wearing the suit that her mother had given when she noticed a large package on the bed.
The Package had a card on top that read "To my Gorgeous wife Damini – you illuminate my life."
The package held a beautiful saree in black & red with silver work and a pair of shining earrings. So...Prithvi had made time to get her a Diwali gift. She smiled at the thought as slow warmth engulfed her.
She was smiling & admiring herself in the saree which Prithvi got for her, when she turned to find Prithvi at the door holding a plate of his fave sweets.
"Damini...maine subah se kuch theek se nehi khaya hoping I will get to have to the sweets you made." "Who bhi tumhare haath se" he added to ensure he was back in her good books.
"Is that so Mr. Saxena?" Damini answered feigning disdain.
"Yes Mrs. Saxena......I am starving for these sweets. Please mujhe maaf kardo...I was really joking when I said that. You don't even have to do this Damini. You are special just the way you are."
After she fed him a bite of the swee she had so lovingly made for him, Damini snuggled into his long arms and reliable chest ...Finally Diwali seemed perfect. In the arms of the man who would protect her from evil. And he sealed that promise with a kiss fit for the occasion.
Folks Remember..it's still the Diwali weekend...please be kind to me...despite what I put you through 😛
