Lekha - opti chand sounds like karamchand or something. There was this detective serial which aired many years ago called Karamchand. Was wondering whether there was a bleak reference to it. Anyway my scenes are not even remotely suspenseful. so was surprised. You can call me anything by the way. No problem.

Oho opti. U r like a detective. Some if ur parts are filled with maha suspense but. I lovvvee your writing skillz

Seeing Geet's slumped shoulders, Maan looked at her with concern.

"Geet, are you alright?" he asked and rushed to her side.

She merely nodded her head and closed her tired eyes. Maan checked his watch and realised it was nearly midnight.

"You can take the bed, Geet. I'll take the couch. It's been a long day. Go to sleep. We'll talk tomorrow."

She nodded, stretched her aching body on the bed and promptly fell asleep.

Well, he knew that there is no point pondering over all these questions because he cannot get answers to any of them immediately. He needed to be patient with her, for what she was going through was difficult as it is. Single parenthood was no joke. For some reason she has courageously gone ahead with it but she is still quite emotionally vulnerable, if her outburst was anything to go by. He needed to be a bit more sensitive in his questioning and not be too hasty in drawing his conclusion. These things were easier said than done. Patience and sensitivity were virtues he did not naturally possess but then he was willing to try acquiring them for his Geet. He cannot give up on her so easily. There was something about her which made him want to be a better man. With these thoughts, he heaved a big sigh and slipped into a disturbed sleep.

The next morning when he woke up, Maan noticed that Geet was still asleep. He went ahead and finished his morning routine and wanted to order coffee. He turned to ask Geet what she wanted but was surprised to see that she was still asleep for she was normally an early riser. He tried to shake her awake but was alarmed when he felt her body for it was burning up. He immediately called the reception and asked for a doctor. Within a few minutes a general physician had arrived and examined her. Geet tried hard to open her heavy lids but Maan asked her to go back to sleep. She closed her eyes and dozed off again. He then informed the doctor that she had got drenched in the rains the previous day.

Feeling her pulse rate, the doctor asked him if she was pregnant. Maan nodded his head.

"I'll give her some tablets which will take care of the fever."

As he was aware that some drugs are prohibited for pregnant women, he looked sceptically at her.

"Don't worry Mr.Khurana, these drugs are not harmful. By the way, how many weeks pregnant is your wife?" asked the doctor.

"Three months," he said, not bothering to correct her about their marital status.

"She seems to be a bit weak. She needs to take a lot of rest and have a good balanced diet. Keep her from getting unduly stressed for it is not good for the baby."
