Chandan sa badan is also unique because the lyrics are in Hindi, not Urdu. There are very few "pure Hindi" songs in films.

Saraswatichandra also had one beautiful song picturised quite nicely 'Chhod de sari duniya kisi ke liye, Yeh munasib nahin aadmi ke liye, Pyar se bhi zururi kayee kaam hain, Pyar sub kuchh nahin zindagi ke liye' situation if I dont forget is like Saraswatichandra(acted by Manish) decides to leave all worldly goods to live the life of an ascetic because he loved Kumud(Nutan) and Kumud gets married to someone else who in turn dies. Nutan is clad in a white saree.

Yes, I remember this sequence which has Nutan beseeching the man not to make love the centre of his existence. I haven't seen the movie though. Nutan didn't look so young.

One of my favourite songs....typical of a movie in which the songs are grrreat but the movie itself is lousy!!! Not to mention the lead in such movies....

Lead: Mahipal (man with wooden face) and Geetanjali

Uyi maa Uyi maa yeh kya ho gaya
dil ki gali mein dil kho gaya....
bindiya ho to dhoond bhi loo main,
dil na dhoonda jaye....

The picturisation is superb (black and white) and Geetanjali (joh bohot zyada "matakti" thi) has danced with abandon!! The music is fast paced and foot tapping.

Another song I like from this movie:

Woh Jab yaad aye....bohot yaad aye..
Ghame zindagi ke andhere mein hum ney
chiragh-e mohobbat jalaye bujhaye.....

Superb song but the picturisation is very lousy....Mahipal and Geetanjali sing this song to convey that they miss each other....Mahipal at his wooden best!!!

Oh yes.... I remember. Isnt this a kind of a street dance song

AD, why dont you put the whole song and its picturisation.

The song is pure and its got such a beautiful picturisation that it makes the song even more poignant

Its Bina Rai sitting on a swing (If I am not mistaken) on one end of the quadrangle, with Pradeep Kumar on the other end, standing and singing.

Its a beautiful song.

If you have seen the movie, its the same quadrangle where he later on sings the Joh wada kiya woh nibhana padega 😃

Bina rai is the same heroine who acted in the original Anarkali (Black and white). She later on married Prem Nath.
