Just read about this book called An Inconvenient Marriage by Ruth Ann Nordin and its plot sounds a lot like BHPH. Do you think the plot was copied from there?

Synopsis:
In order to receive his inheritance, Jake Mitchell must marry. In order to save her family's farm, Sue Lewis must marry a rich man. So Jake comes up with a plan. Why not strike up a platonic, business arrangement where they can marry each other for six months? And it all goes according to plan...until an army of suitors start to take an interest in Sue. Then Jake starts to reconsider the plan.

Well, to be honest, I've seen this theme of a contract marriage many times. For example the bollywood movie Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, as well, I believe, as a Tamil movie. I have also seen many hollywood and american TV movies centered around a platonic marriage of convenience
There have been novels written on the matter as well, along with the one listed above
This is definitely not a new theme, it's one that has been played on many times.

OMG! I've read An Inconvenient Marriage, before! :)

And yes, the plot is quite similar. As for the plot being copied...I'm not sure, because this plot has been used before for various dramas, and even movies. :]

Interesting! Thx for filling in the gaps people. I guess BHPH has copied other serials and somewhere along the line someone must've copied this book or maybe one of the films mentioned.
No originality I guess!

I guess the initial story was based on Movie Socha Na tha and now it is moving like Hum aapke dil me rahte hai.
I know its not new idea but still it works.

there is a very famous korean drama "full house" based on the contract marriage which is somewhat similar to BHPH. also there is a telugu movie "pavithra bandham" which is later remade into Hum apke dil mein rehte hain...also there are many american shows which are based on this plotline....even though the plot is not original the story is worth interesting to watch for...also SaVan has an amazing chemistry...love them both
