Megha and Amey were childhood friends. They're families were also very close. At the age of 8, Amey was sent abroad to London for his studies, and Megha was left behind in India without Amey because she could not leave her mother alone.
Amey lived in London for about 15 years and Megha had been waiting for him for those 15 years. She was and still is crazily in love with him but never expressed her feelings to Amey. For Amey, Megha was always his best friend, whom he could share anything and everything with.
It is the occasion of Amey's younger sister, Menahil's wedding, and Amey finally returns back to India after 15 long years. Also, Menahil is very romantic so she wanted her wedding day on Valentine's Day.
THE STORY BEGINS!!!
It's early morning and Amey comes home from London after a long 15 years and is greeted by his family and friends. Everyone's really happy to see him. There's a huge get-to-gather at his house and a very loud yet warm environment. Megha is in Amey's younger sister, Menahil's room with her friends helping Menahil get ready for her mehndi night. Menahil and the rest of the girls tease Megha about Amey. Megha blushes every time and tries her best to change the topic.
Menahil is looking very beautiful, and the girls decide to go downstairs and greet everyone. As they are coming down the stairs, a kid skating on the stairs bangs into Megha and she's about to fall down severely. Amey sees this and acts at the right time and saves her.
Amey does not recognize Megha at all and before he can say anything, a crowd gets gathered around the stairs, as Megha's ankle got twisted. In this midst of events, Amey leaves without saying a word.
Later on in the afternoon, Amey goes upstairs to his room to freshen up. When he enters his room he looks at an old photograph, which was taken 15 years ago before he left to London. It was a photograph of Amey and his best friend of childhood, Megha. Amey wonders what has happened to her, and how she would be. He freshens up and goes downstairs.
He is wandering around his house along with his friends when he gets a call from his girlfriend Malvika. He picks up and tells her he'll call her back later.
His friends question him on the call and he answers it was just a close friend. While Amey is talking with his friend, his dog Brownie is having fun playing around with Amey. All of a sudden Brownie takes Amey's phone and starts running away from him. Amey goes after him and coincidentally Brownie runs towards Megha and drops Amey's phone into her hands.
Amey goes over to Megha and says "Oh yeh mere phone hai" and she hands it over to him very nervously. Visibly, she is crazily blushing. He takes his phone and turns around, then he turns back to Megha and says "Vaise… mera naam Amey hai, Amey Date. Wahan seeriyon par aap girti girti bachchi, aap teekh to hain na? Uhhhh kya aap mere pariwaar ki rishtedaar hain…?" Before she could answer a bunch of kids come shouting "Megha Didi Megha Didi" and take her away to the garden. Amey stands there looking on.
Megha is sitting in the garden just watching the kids play, Amey follows them and shows up before Megha and directly asks "Arey yaar, tumne baateya kyon nahin tum meri Megha ho" to which Megha replies "Mujhe laga ke tum aapni Megha ko yaad rakhoge". Just then the kids come and they ask Amey and Megha to join them in playing catching catch (with the blind fold). The first to be blindfolded is of course Amey. Megha's not able to run around much because of her twisted ankle, so Amey ends up catching her easily. Amey opens his blindfold just to find Megha in his arms.
Megha and Amey remain in that position for a while. Megha lowers her eyes because she is too embarrassed to look at Amey, yet she doesn't want to let go of Amey. Amey remains still looking at and admiring Megha; her smile, her shyness, and the way she still remembered the game they used to play back when they were younger. Just then one of the kids says "Amey bhaiya, hum catching catch khel rahain hai, statue-statue nahin". Amey and Megha feel awkward but continue playing with the kids. Just then Megha's aunty Hina calls Megha inside and tells her to get mehndi done on her hands as everyone else is done. Menahil also asks Amey to come inside since a lot of people want to meet him, as he's a hot eligible bachelor from London.
Once Megha's mehndi is done her mom Diksha comes with a plate of food and gives it to her. Megha puts up her hands and says it's full of mehndi so she can't eat. Diksha is busy with other preparations so she can't feed Megha either. Diksha asks one of Amey's friends, Ayesha to help Megha. Unfortunately Ayesha also has mehndi done. She suggests Amey feed Megha since his hands are free. Amey obviously obliges, and feeds her. Just then Amey's friends remind him he needs to get ready for the sangeet.
Amey gets changed for the evening party and is heading downstairs. Megha, the lady of the night comes out of a room in a golden/nude colour sari with a noodle-strap blouse. Amey cant help staring at her, he is spellbound and stunned by Megha's beauty. She looks at Amey from the corner of her eyes and feels his gaze on her, but she can't gather up the courage to stare back at him. Finally unable to resist his temptation anymore, Amey advances towards Megha, stops and then suddenly leans towards her. Megha is too stunned to react but her heart starts beating rapidly. Slowly Amey reaches for Megha's clip and lets her hair loose, and says nothing except you look better with your hair left loose, and then just leaves. Megha can't react and finally when she gets back to her sense, she blushes and is as red as she could ever possibly get and then she begins wondering what did that action of Amey's really meant. She begins thinking if Amey has the same feeling for her and loves her as much as she loves him.
The sangeet has started and Adi, one of Amey's friends comes and tells Amey that someone 'special' has come to meet him. While Amey was searching for that special someone, Megha spots her favourite cousin MALVIKA sitting with Diksha in the living room and is really surprised. She hugs her cousin and they both share a bonding moment together. Amey spots Megha and Malvika together and is really amazed. Amey comes and greets Malvika and Megha thinks how does he know her.
Amey tells Megha that Malvika is his 'good friend' but Malvika interrupts saying that she's his girlfriend and that they're hopefully going to marry each other soon.
Megha is shocked and heartbroken, she excuses herself and leaves to the kitchen. Obviously she starts crying and she keeps questioning herself as to why she's crying, she should be happy for her cousin. She wipes her tears and goes outside.
Amey is wondering why Megha left. He gets pissed off and questions Malvika why did she have to mention 'marriage' in front of Megha especially when both of them hadn't discussed marriage before. Just then a waiter comes with masks for the mask-dance. DJ Siddh announces that you have to dance with the person who's wearing the same mask as yours. Megha and Amey end up having the same mask so they dance together.
Megha's heart is torn into pieces and she probably couldn't do anything worse than dance with Amey right now, how could she enjoy and dance when she had just seen her dreams getting shattered, how could she just let go of the dream she had caressed for 15 years in just a few hours? She moves her face away and tries to walk off but Amey has a strong hold on her, he couldn't let Megha leave when he is just beginning to interpret his strong feelings for Megha and trying to figure out what is it that he is feeling for her. Is it just a love for a childhood friend or something deeper and intense? Megha couldn't fight off Amey's hold on her as the emotional battle going inside her had left her so powerless and feeble. Just then Amey notices a tear rolling down Megha's shimmering cheeks. He couldn't bear to see Megha crying, he doesn't exactly know what she is crying for but he gets a strong feeling to protect Megha from everything in the world. He doesn't want anybody to hurt Megha. Megha's tears turn into sobs and being too desperate to console Megha he tries to tell her about his relationship with Malvika, but Megha is not ready to hear anything from Amey.
Just then DJ Siddh asks everyone on the floor to change their partners. Amey just leaves the dance floor and Megha ends up dancing with Amey's friend Adi. Amey's watching them from a distance and out of jealousy breaks a glass that was in his hand and his hands starts bleeding.
Megha notices this and can feel Amey's pain. She stops dancing with Adi and she runs towards Amey. He also sees her coming his way just then Malvika shows up in front of Amey, and Megha stops where she was and runs out of the party. Malvika asks Amey what happened and he says the glass had a crack from before.
Ayesha stopped Megha from leaving the party asks her to sing for all of them since it's Valentine's Day but Megha refuses. Malvika forces Megha to sing and to that Megha replies that she's very shy, and doesn't want to. Then Menahil tells Megha that Amey can give her company if she's feeling shy. Megha reluctantly agrees. They sing Hum Mile Na Mile from Kisna.
They finish the song, and Megha is determined more than anything to avoid Amey in the party. Amey is desperate to know why Megha is changing so much suddenly, just then Megha passes by Amey and he grabs Megha's hand and corners her. Megha is suddenly aware of Amey's presence and the lack of distance between them. Her heart starts racing and she could feel every beat of Amey's heart and even realize that it matched her heartbeat, but Amey doesn't seem to notice anything. Her painful heart is destructed with all her dreams crushed and pleads to him to leave her alone. She manages to get out of his grip and run away. Amey's ego is bruised so even he avoids her. Amey looks at her when she's not looking n vice-versa. Menahil notices this and asks Amey what's wrong with him. He avoids the question. Even Malvika asks him but he's too pissed off to actually talk to her about it. He goes to the terrace and has a hard think about why he's feeling like this about Megha.
Amey struggles to find the answers when he spots Megha on the terrace as well. He thinks he's dreaming but Megha is REALLY standing there. He goes up to her and is about to touch her face when Megha says 'Amey?!'. He is surprised but still he is very strong. Suddenly Amey notices that Megha's face is tear-stained, he looks into her eyes-the eyes full of questions, pain, grief and thinks he is the reason for that pain. He asks her what she's doing on the terrace and she replies saying that one of her biggest illusions has just broken and she didn't want to be in the party and spoil everyone's mood so she left and came up here.
Amey kind of understands what Megha's trying to tell him. He's about to tell her that he's not serious about Malvika and that he thinks he likes her, but before he could say anything Megha interrupts him saying that there's nothing left to talk....
Megha is about to leave when Amey holds her hand from behind and stops her. The breeze is too strong, which makes Megha's silky brown hair cover her innocent face. He pushes away the brown silky locks from her face, lifts her face up and wipes off the tears on her cheeks. He pulls her closer and tells Megha he wants to tell her something. Amey fumbles a bit and Megha is about to leave again. Amey pulls her back even closer this time, so close that they both can hear each other breathing, and says "Megha I don't know what I actually feel about you but…" Amey can't continue talking simply because Megha is so stunning that he's not left with any words. Megha snaps out of the daze and pulls herself out of Amey's arms and runs back downstairs....
Megha's running downstairs but on the way she collides with Ayesha. Ayesha goes up to the terrace to meet Amey and asks him what's wrong. Amey tells her about his attraction towards Megha and then he later on mentions that Malvika is his girlfriend and a very good friend of his. He doesn't want to lose a friend like Malvika for Megha because he's not 100% sure of Megha's feelings for him or even his feelings for Megha. He's spent time with Megha for only a day since their childhood so maybe he's making a hasty decision.
Ayesha tells Amey that sometimes it takes just a moment and sometimes it takes a lifetime to realise that you love someone. She also tells him about Megha liking him since childhood, how she managed to wait these 15 longs years for him and now that she finds out he's going to marry her favourite cousin, how she feels. Amey is shocked. He asks why didn't Megha ever tell him before. Ayesha replies saying that not everything needs to be told; there are some things that are just felt and that Megha assumed that even you would have the same feelings for her.
Amey goes down to find Megha but he cant find her anywhere. He's walking up and down the corridors and checking all the rooms when he meets Malvika in one of the rooms. He decides to talk to her about everything because Malvika has been a friend of his more than a girlfriend and he was sure she would understand. However he struggles to tell her, as he doesn't want to break her heart. Malvika apologises to him for talking about the marriage thing before discussing it with him first. She only said it because she doesn't want to lose him and in this moment she hugs him and says that she really loves him. Amey's in too much of a daze he pulls Malvika out of his arms n sees Megha in place of her. Thinking its Megha, he ends up hugging Malvika again says I love you Megha.
Megha is sitting on a swing in the garden and crying. Amey comes from behind and taps her on her shoulder. She turns around and gets upset to see him. She asks him to go away and leave her alone. He tells her that he left her alone for these 15 years, and now doesn't want to spend even 1 moment without her. He tries to explain to her that he really likes her and that he didn't know about her feelings. She tells him that he's cheating on Malvika. He replies saying that he's always treated Malvika like a friend and he again tells her that he really loves her only. Megha is depressed and in a very oxymoronic state of mind she loves him so much but she hates him for breaking her dreams. She tries to act very strong and tries to think she hates him a lot but within her heart she's never loved anyone as much as she loves Amey. She keeps telling him how fickle-minded and mean he is and how she's too good for him and about how much she hates him. And in all that anger she breaks down in his arms and tells him "I Love You". They share a compassionate hug on the night of Valentine's Day under the shimmering stars and a full moon.
And this is how our lovebirds uniting on Valentine's Night.
