Dr. Abhimanyu Modi groaned as he followed his wife and one of her friends into yet another clothes store. Earlier that day Niki and Muskaan had tricked him into agreeing to accompany them to the mall and now he cursed himself for giving in. For the past three hours he had done nothing but follow them around from one store to another dragging their growing pile of purchases along. Silently he vowed that this would be that last time this would happen. The next time Niki so much as mentioned shopping he would find a way to disappear and disappear fast.
"Abhi!" The tired man sighed as he made his way over to where his wife was standing in front of a mirror studying her reflection critically while holding up a rust colored sleeveless dress. "What do you think?"
Abhi studied the dress for a second before shrugging his shoulders. "The color doesn't suit you."
Niki glanced over her shoulder at her husband before once more turning to glance at her reflection. "Hmm…yeah, you're right. It looks terrible in this light." Spinning around once she tilted her head to the side as if to see it from another angle.
Abhi smirked coming around to casually lean against the mirror. "Of course, because the lights are on."
Niki nodded her head absentmindedly until his words registered. "What…did…you…say?" She demanded softly taking a couple of threatening steps until she was standing in front of him.
"I was just kidding, Niki." Abhi laughed trying to placate his wife. She only glared at him before shoving him away from the mirror so she could once more study her reflection. Abhi winced as he slowly backed away from the irate woman. "Uh…I'll just wait outside for the two of you then." Turning he quickly made his way past a glaring Muskaan already making plans on how to get back into Niki's good books.
Scowling after him one more time, Muskaan made her way over to where Niki stood. Niki smiled at her best friend and offered her the dress that she had been inspecting. Taking the dress she glanced over it still shaking her head. "How do you do it, Niki? If that was my husband, I would have killed him!"
Niki giggled before taking the dress back from Muskaan and returning it to the rack of clothes nearby. "The night before my wedding, after you girls fell asleep, I couldn't sleep so I decided to make a list of ten faults of Abhi's that I would overlook once we were married."
Muskaan stared at her friend in amused interest. "So which faults did you list, exactly?"
Niki chuckled a bit as she began riffling through the racks of clothes. "Actually I never managed to make the list. Riddhima woke up right then and we started talking until we fell asleep. Instead, every time Abhi does something irritating, I simply tell myself that he's lucky that its one of the ten." Muskaan burst into laughter as Niki winked at her.
