Bambai bhi bulatey thhye log Bombay ko - Bombay _ Mumbai = bambai.

Aadat pad jati hai naam ki. Bas thoda samay lagta hai. I don't find anything wrong with the origianal name Mumbai. I am having a hard time with Bangaluru though.

Honestly, with names of places I think apart from sensitive people secularism or regionalism does not matter. It is more of a matter of convenience.

Some people like shortcuts. This is very true of the AOL generation. They have acronyms for everything. India mein bhi UK paida hota hain. I think this generation would be more partial to something like B'bay, M'bay. Probably B'bay cos they can hit the same key twice.

Some people like the sound of lengthy titles. Like instead of state names they say things like 'Lone Star State', 'Sunshine State', 'Garden State'. I'm sure these people would like something more lofty like the City that Never Sleeps.

I was born in Bombay. I grew up calling it Bombay. Old habits die hard. It takes a conscious effort to wrangle my tongue to say Mumbai or wrangle my fingers to type Mumbai. Its simply way too much effort. So Bombay it is. When I actually start calling Deustcheland, as Deustcheland - then I will work on Mumbai.

Calling it Mumbai or Bombay has nothing to do with secularism. I personally tend to call it Bombay, more out of habit than anything else.

BTW, not in a habit of calling Calcutta, Kolkata and Trivandrum Thiruvananathpuram too.

Bombay or Mumbai both are the name of the same place..........sometimes i call Bombay and sometimes Mumbai.........and religion does not have anything to do with such things ..........its the choice of people that matters.........next people will say what do u call Bangalore or Bangaluru , Calcutta or Kolkata ??...........and will try to turn that also into a religious issue........pathetic

Mumbai or Bombay? What do you call it?

If you are secular, modern and western then obviously you personally would call it Bombay.
If you call it Mumbai, then obviously you're a Hindu fanatic. No question about that.

so u like bombs since u want to call it Bombay😆
I think it should be called Bollywood.😆
Let those living there decide.
