Aishwarya did Pink Panther after she was married and showed off her body. So I think your Hadippa remix point is invalid. And She is a bigger star than Abhishek, and so I doubt she needed his support to get Sarkar Raj. I am sure RGV was more than happy to have her in the film.

And Kajol has done fewer films voluntarily. She was the one who won most of the best actress awards for 2006 for Fanaa, though I would say that Ayesha Takia in Dor and Kareena Kapoor in Omkara performed better than her. The only exception is Star Screen where Kareena got the award. Apart from that Kajol got pretty much every other award.

She is also doing MNIK and then Stepmom remake. For an actress who has insisted that she doesn't want to do as much work as before because of her family, she seems to be getting a lot of big offers still. She just picked ones that were good. She was also offered Three Idiots but rejected it because she felt the role wasn't important enough.

Personally I have heard more rumours about Kareena and Saif getting married, than Rani's marriage. It might just depend on whose news you follow more.

well Rani isn't known for being glam or a sex pot, so these kind of roles normally would go to the likes of Bipasha or Priyanka or whoever.. the so called "rumors" wouldn't have hindered chances of Rani getting offers of the kind of movies she used to do..

could it just be the movie makers just thought other actresses (single, taken, married or in a "friend with benefit" relationships whatever) were better suited and preferred them over her for any reasons (random articles in the media most likely wouldn't be one of them) when all they need to do is offer the movie to her if they had rly wanted her..and if Rani was planning to settle in domestic bliss with her beau she would say no and they will move along..

and what about her cloooooooosest friends in the whoooole wide Bollywood like SRK, SLB and other producers/actors etc, being friends or whatever they would know that their friend isn't getting married or is married or is quitting movies, they can always ask their friend when they have a movie to offer...

And Rani hasn't been aloof from movies all that long. Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic released just over a year ago. By that standard Shahid too was aloof from movies between Kismat Konnection and Kaminey (were their marriage rumours about him too?).

It is not that she was aloof from movies, she was just aloof from the good ones. She places all her eggs in the YRF basket and it seems she has only realised now how that was a bad decision. So this whole excuse about rumours I just don't buy.

@Geet - You seem to think that I'm saying that the married actresses do not get any offers at all. All I'm saying is that their number and choices come down, and gradually they fade away. Period.

Chances are that no actress, married or unmarried, will even repeat the kind of success that Kajol had with DDLJ. The film is one of the biggest movies of all time. You just cannot compare Fanaa and DDLJ, but it has nothing to do with Kajol being married.

Even Sharmila Tagore did some of her best work after her marriage and having kids. I will concede that Bollywood is more unfair to married women than men, but these days the tide has turned a bit. Aishwarya and Kajol are examples of that.

None of us know what quality and choice of films were offered to Rani. But during this whole time she has only worked for YRF except for Saawariya. She became a YRF home actress and now she has realised that it was a mistake - and so she is backtracking. This is the same woman who said after winning an award for Yuva that she wished she got it for Veer Zaara instead because that production house is more important to her.

Maybe 1 percent of her slump can be attributed to those rumours, but I would say the rest of the 99 percent is her lousy choice in films. Yet she isn't willing to admit that those were bad choices, and blames the media instead. Wouldn't most Bollywood insiders know that she isn't getting married and so they would offer her films? Once her films started flopping of course they didn't want to take her on for their projects - that has more to do with her current situation than any rumours.

@Geet - All I will say is that exceptions cannot be banked upon as regular outcomes. Aishwarya and Kajol are still getting offers, but now they come with various constraints. A married actress simply cannot be looked at with the same eyes. Marriage consequently induces certain expectations she must live upto and boundaries she must comply with. By giving the example of Ash, I had meant to convey that she will not be able to do another 'Krazy Kiya re', now that she is married. And Mark my words they will fade away gradually (Ofcourse, that's just how I feel)
