I just saw the clip and I don't see what the big deal is. It really wasn't THAT bad. It all happened so fast and I personally think its harmless. And its not like it was Akshay's idea, the choreographer of the ramp walk probably told him to do that. It was just meant for good fun and humor, I think there are much bigger problems in the world than this like every one said.

Thank you very much 👏
I guess someone in the police department wants a few lakhs in a hurry. Do your jobs people - this doesnt warrant your investigation.

Personally, I didn't like what Akshay did. I thought it was in bad taste and slighlty vulgar. However, I don't see the need for the police to get involved. Looks like they have free-time on their hands. It's better for them to focus on more pressing issues.

exactly.. and i agree with marz too.. although, at first i was taken aback as well.. but you know.. people have done worse things.. and yeah, he didn't do anything as bad as to warrant punishment.. why would you take away his padmashree..?? that's quite stupid.... and it was for "LEVIS UNBOTTONED", so i guess that goes with the theme.. why make a mountain out of a moehole..?? 😕

I know right, Indian media has a problem over every small thing, its not like akki did it on purpose, i know lots off times guys here in us also forget to button their zip, might be because there where in a hurry or there did button it and it came undone. gosh indian media and police needs to worry about the huge corruption or homeless or health care crisis then worry about that.
I forgot to add lol i do not think it was right but alot of actors do stupid things all the time it should be kept in context not made into a national issue like every other one.. 😛

Akshay Kumar's antics may land him in trouble

By: PTI Date: 2009-04-02

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar may land himself in trouble as city police have started inquiry into his alleged obscene act during Lakhme Fashion Week.

Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar walks the ramp with designer Tarun Tahiliani's at the Lakme Fashion Week at Grand Hyatt recently

"We are conducting an inquiry into Akshay Kumar's alleged obscene acts during Lakme Fashion Week held recently after we received a complaint from a person called Anil Nair," a police officer said.

"The complainant raised objections on Akshay's unbutton act in public," the officer said.

On Monday, mid-way between his ramp walk, Akshay Kumar walked towards his wife Twinkle Khanna, who was seated in the front row and allegedly asked her to unbutton his jeans during the fashion show.

Asked if a police case is likely to be registered against Akshay and organisers, the officer said, "if our inquiry finds them guilty of obscene act, we will register a case against Akshay and organisers."

Akki unbuttons a row

Little did Akshay Kumar think that unbuttoning his trousers in jest at a fashion show would attract the attention of the city's moral police, and lead to a complaint being filed against the actor with the cops on Thursday morning.

Akshay, the brand ambassador of Levi's jeans, unveiled its 'Unbuttoned' brand at the Lakme Fashion Week on Tuesday at the Grand Hyatt, Santa Cruz. But that has provoked Anil Nair, who describes himself as a social worker, to file a written complaint against the actor, his wife Twinkle, the show organiser and the hotel management, at the Vakola police station, urging the policeto book them for indecent, vulgar and obscene behaviour.
He said they should be booked under section 292 of the IPC related to sale of obscene objects and section 293, related with sale of obscene objects to young persons. Nair also provided various newspaper clippings and video footage of the show to the police. Senior police inspector of Vakola police station, S G Nekalikar said, "Before registering an FIR we want to make sure the case can stand in court. We will examine related materials and take opinion from legal experts before reaching a conclusion.'' Police added since the incident involved the husband and his wife and they are not sure if they can be booked under the above sections.

Those present at the fashion show on Tuesday evening said Akshay had walked half the ramp at which point a model walked up to the actor and tried to unbutton his jeans. The actor refused and moved towards his wife Twinkle, seated in the audience, and asked her to unbutton it. Asked about the incident after the event, the actor had allegedly said it was no big deal as it was wife Twinkle who unbuttoned his trousers and more importantly, the entire act was part of the storyboard.

Informed about the complaint against him, Akshay, who is currently shooting for a television show Khatron Ke Khiladi, apologised saying, "If I have hurt anyone's sentiments with my action then I am sorry because I didnt mean to."

But Nair was not happy with a simple apology. He said he was shocked when he watched the fashion show footage on a news channel where Akshay asked his wife publicly to remove his zip in the middle of the show. He said, "I have done it for the youth who consider Akshay their role model. He has been bestowed with an honour like the Padma Shri and should not be doing what he did, in public.'' Nair added, "The cops have promised me they will investigate the case and convert the complaint into an FIR. What I need from Akshay is a public apology.''

Actor Milind Soman, victim of a similar case filed against him and model Madhu Sapre more than a decade ago said, "I really don't know what all this fuss is about." In a 1995 photoshoot for sports shoes brand Tuff, the duo posed naked with a python entwined around them and were arrested for indecent behaviour. The case has still not come up for hearing.

Director Mahesh Bhatt, whose daughter, actor Pooja Bhatt had been slapped with obscenity charges for posing on a magazine cover and posters of her film Rog, said, "Obscenity lies in the eyes of the beholder. The judiciary has more serious concerns to grapple with. Let's spare them this extra load."

Actor Celina Jaitley said, "The moral police should first find out what is wrong and right. Why don't they go and catch hold of men who attack women in pubs or those men who are peeing on the roadside?"
