You know I am quite upset w/ Zee TV and the producers of the show. They have made a mockery out of the rights and rituals of a marriage. These rituals are done for a reason...especially in a Hindu wedding. They say that in a Hindu marriage, the groom is like Lord Vishnu and the bride is like Goddess Lakshmi.
By making Vishaka the "bride" despite her not actually participating in the marriage, they have insulted God Himself. Shes not even the one the groom loves! Ugh. Im very upset w/ Zee TV.
Its one thing to make stories up but insulting rituals, Hinduism and most important God this way is unacceptable.
Your thoughts?

No, they have not insulted the Hindu wedding, in fact, they have glorified it.

The root of the problem is a superstition - the bride and groom cannot see each other until they are married.

Perhaps what Zee TV is trying to tell us that, even today, educated (US returned !), intelligent men like Dev believe in such superstitions and then end up in misery land.

I dont think that turning someone into a bride despite her not actually being the bride is glorifying marriage. And I certainly dont think that people who condone this behavior (the mother and grandmother) should be forgiven. Also, I think that the reason brides are asked to wear ghoonghats and grooms are asked to wear sehraas is because they are supposed to see each other before anyone else sees them. In today's day and age, rarely do you see brides and grooms covering their faces the entire time.

Dont you find it a mockery of the Indian Marriage when in dramas a man is shown filling the manng of a woman. 😕 I find it equally ridiculous.

cool guys.... it is just a tv show and they don't want to convey anything through the show. It is purely for entertainment and they say that everything is fiction just before starting the show everyday.
No need to take anything seriously.
Anyways, we have remotes with us, don't we?

in terms of whats going on I agree with most of you marriage is like a joke not just in this serial but practically in all of them. The whole notion of breaking up then getting back together and then breaking and then getting back together and replacing brides is just insane. the whole idea of marriage is to be with that one person the rest of your life in any circumstance. Theyve really ruined the meaning of the actual word itself. And Im sorry if some people might think Im criticizing this but women are still objectified in this serial. Vishaka's dad says that a woman does paap not doing her "pathi dharm" what is she your slave or something, because shes definitly treated as one. Some might not know that the notion of the husband being god was only introduced into Hinduism in the late vedic period. and not to mention it is a huge bias since men were the only ones allowed to translate the holy scriptures of Hinduism, meaning that as time went on women lost their freedom not gained. Sorry if me having a femistic view offends anyone Im just stating my opinion
