The first part....I'm glad she said it. Its great she acknowdges that she got those roles because of the rampant nepotism that exists in bollywood. Instead of being all goody two shoes and saying exactly the opposite.
But whats up with the bottom half of the interview? Like Mrs.Ackles said.....she ain't no Konkona or Nandita so why is she acting as if only Deepika does commercial roles.
Now I'm beginning to doubt the way I interpreted the first half.😆

I don't know about masala flicks or condiments flicks or whatever flicks but to me it sounded like she was being condescending and trying to appear as if she's doing intelligent artie flicks...and that she is too good for the usual bollywood fare when she has yet to show any potential when it comes to acting chops.. i could understand if her movie choices reflected that but she is just another newcomer doing whatever's being offered to her..

Yeah it does sound like she was putting deepika down. Deepika is just too nice and don't bring people down like that. When she was winning all those awards, she always praised everyone instead of acting like she was too good.
Actually Sonam has her dad to choose roles for her. Atleast Deepika is independent chooses roles for herself.

Sonam has never put down Deepika, she has always been in praise of her and has always maintained the fact she is way ahead in the race than she is.

Dahling, Sonam has said it many times that all the films she has signed on are by her and what she feels right. She may ask her dad on advices on scripts but at the end of they day its her signing on the dotted lines!

But big commericial films is what Deepika does, what's wrong in saying that?

I personally don't think she's trying to appear as though she's doing arty films or whatever, especially when everyone knows she's not.

I don't think she is putting Deepika down either, (unless what, commercial films are bad things now?), she's always only said nice things about her and praised her success.

I don't see anything wrong in that (if it does happen). Unless taking advice from your parents is a bad thing?

In a way she is right. Deepika is signing alot of movie and sonam doesn't. From where is deepika being insulted? Even if you compare Delhi 6 to BAH, you'll understand what sonam is talking about.

punjabi_chic: of course listening to your parents is a good thing but unluckly deepika doesn't have it like that. She has to make a name for herself in this industry so I think the career moves she's taking right now is good for a person who don't have a filmy parents.

You know u dont even have to compare any films of either Sonam nor Deepika's films to prove the point.
Deepika is miles ahead in the race she has alot of films under her belt and is extremly popular. And good for her, she deserves it she has put in alot of hard work. You reap, u sow! And YES the majority has been commercial films. So What? Whats wrong in them? Nothing, na. I dont get why people are distorting it and making a mountain out of a mole hill! Chill..!! Jesus, Sonam just merely mentioned that fact tht Deepika has been doing alot of commercial films and OMG she is putting her down etc etc..Sighh!!
