About the movie ...I can agree to some extent with the critics who r putting down this movie as west's mistreatment of Indian culture and values ..but again from cinematic point of view I have some disagreements with the critics....at least I will give it more thumbs up than Meera nayyar's "salaam bombay ".....who exploited such a beautiful city to garner accolades from west ....

But I really don't have time to delve into that ...will soon debate on this when I have time ....

And ID ji ...thanks for being such a wise and wonderful member of this forum ..I always learnt something about music from ur posts ....Hope to see more such posts in future ....

Good to see ARR getting the recognition on a world platform.

About the movie SLUM DOG MILLIONIARE:

Just watched it few days back, sorry to say, IT'S NOT A BRILLIANT/GREAT FILM(screenplay not good enough in many places) from an Indian's point of view. If you have watched "Salam Bombay" or movies of similar kind - there is nothing so exceptional(good cinematography though). I haven't watched other movies that were contesting with SDM, can't comment whether those are not good enough or it's the slum-poverty-crime-child abuse that fascinates the Western Audience. Dev Patel was good though.

But good though to see it winning at the GG, something that relates to picture of India - good or bad

why? ar rahman made melodies by listening to kumar sanu's car engine.. sivamani gave percussions using the car's hubcaps.

but ARR's music seems monotonous off-late. its gud but sounds repetitive. this is wht the king has 2 say. a bit late in the discussion but doesn't matter.

exactly..

i loved bombay, dilse, lagaan, etc and was rooting ofr jaane tu.. but guru, jodha are all too repettitive.
