Deepika Padukone and Farhan Akhtar come together in 'Kartik Calling Kartik' By Sonal Chawla, 8 January, 2009

Deepika Padukone will star with Farhan Akhtar in Excel Entertainment's next, Kartik Calling Kartik. The film will be directed by debutant Vijay Lalwani. The casting of Deepika with Farhan may come as a surprise but sources say that they suit the thriller's script perfectly. The film will be shot on a start-to-finish schedule from April to June at various locales of India. Says a source, "Farhan is so excited by Kartik Calling Kartik that he has pushed back directing Voice from the Sky. He has been saying that it is a fantastic script. When he heard it, he not only wanted his banner Excel Entertainment to produce it but also wanted to act in it. Farhan feels the title itself will generate curiosity and is excited to essay the title role." Interestingly, last week Deepika had featured with Farhan on his TV show Oye! It's Friday. A source reveals, "She has been very fond of Farhan and his movies; especially, Dil Chahta Hai and also loved him as a debutant actor in Rock On!!. Deepika desired to work with Farhan. So when this offer came along, it was a dream come true." Co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani maintains, "We are in talks with Deepika but nothing has been finalised." Sources add that Deepika has given her nod to the project. 2009 seems to have begun well for Deepika. Presently she is travelling for worldwide premieres of her next, Chandni Chowk To China, in which she stars with Akshay Kumar.

Akshay arranges special CC2C show for New York's cabbies By Amul Sharma, 10 January, 2009

Akshay Kumar is currently on a world tour for the premiere of his upcoming flick Chandni Chowk To China. After attending the first premiere in Los Angeles, he and the unit moved to New York City for the second one. But on the same day, hours before his big premiere, Akshay arranged for a special trial for the South East Asian cabbies community with the help of his producer Warner Bros. An insider reveals, "Akshay made the entry like he generally he does in movies: atop a yellow cab which is synonymous with New York City world over. The actor wasn't accompanied by his leading lady Deepika Padukone as she was on interview duty with various media agencies." A majority of the cabbies in New York are Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi and Warner wanted to capitalise on this.

I wish Deepika could've attended this one too.
