Another award show that’s been on and off since 90s.

They certainly got a sponsor...

What I find laughable is this:

"Celebrating Excellence in Indian Cinema" when it is only about Hindi Cinema.

I wonder if these awards had been done as an ultimate possibility to award Dhurandhar... or will there be the regular IIfa awards (I only know about South filmindustry one).

Stupid to just give Aneet and Ahan newbie nomination only when they deserve the nomination for best actor and actress. Infact Aneet even deserves the best actress award.

Curious as I am, I wanted to know - from divers sources - more about the criteria for the Awards-giving media-outlet as it wants the awards to get valued as standing "apart - where recognition is earned, not campaigned, and excellence is judged, not voted. ... every honour reflects integrity, merit, and deep creative respect. Free from popularity metrics and external influence, the Screen Awards celebrate what truly matters - the art, the craft, and the brilliance behind cinema." (YouTube video)

So, in this Chetak Screen Award show (new sponsor = the iconic scooter brand from Bajaj Auto has now been relaunched as a modern electric two-wheeler), the winners were not selected by a traditional jury, but "by a Screen Academy, an independent collective of over 50 renowned filmmakers and cultural figures, led by Dr. Priya Jaikumar (University of Southern California)." This time, the panel comprised a total of 53 industry professionals, including:

- directors & writers Shoojit Sircar, Deepa Mehta, Sriram Raghavan, Kabir Khan, Karan Johar, Rajkumar Hirani, Rima Das, Abhishek Chaubey, Nagesh Kukunoor.

- actors & producers Vidya Balan, John Abraham, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ronnie Screwvala

- technology & design: Resul Pookutty (Sound Design), Sabu Cyril (Production Design), Manish Malhotra (Costume Design), Amit Ray (Production Design), Mukesh Chhabra (Casting)

- culture & business: Anand Mahindra (Chairman of the Mahindra Group), Sameer Nair (Applause Entertainment).

Among the 31 evaluation criterias had been technical excellence, creative vision, viewer connectivity, innovation and authenticity (additionally for acting performances)...
