The match has been called off. The rain has had the final say. India win by 21 runs as per DLS. India won the toss and put Australia into bat under overcast skies. The hosts went too hard during the course of the innings and that didn’t help their cause. Arundhati Reddy starred with the ball for India with a 4-fer. Voll, Litchfield, Perry and Wareham got starts but couldn't convert those into anything substantial. India kept striking at regular intervals and bowled out Australia for a below-par 133. Then, Shafali and Mandhana took India off to a brisk start and that pushed them further on the front foot. Rain halted play after 5.1 overs and it didn't relent after that. So, a tame end to the game but India were the favourites at the halfway stage and they take a well-deserved 1-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series.

Australia Women (AUS W) are all set to host India Women (IND W) in the second T20I of the three-match series, at the Manuka Oval, in Canberra, on Thursday, February 19.

The visitors made a clinical start to the series, defeating the home team by 21 runs via the DLS method in a rain-affected first T20I. After winning the toss and opting to field, India’s bowlers dictated terms. Renuka Singh removed Beth Mooney, giving the team a brilliant start. Australia looked set for some time, but Arundhati Reddy turned the game on its head with an impressive spell. She dismissed Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry in quick succession and finished with figures of 4 for 22, earning the Player of the Match award. The hosts eventually collapsed to 133 all out in 18 overs.

Manuka Oval, Canberra: Pitch Report

Manuka Oval has, of late, become one of the preferred T20I venues in the country. The venue in the Australian capital has hosted five 20-over games since its first in 2019, and 40 per cent of the match results have gone in favour of the teams chasing. Any score over 180 can be considered a winning total at this venue. However, the pitch offers as much assistance to the chasing side, which puts the bowlers' skills to the test.

Hello and welcome to game 2 of this 3 match T20I series between India and Australia. India have taken a 1-0 lead in the rain marred game at Sydney. The Australian team collapsed while batting and Indian openers were off to a flier when the heavens opened up and never relented. But Canberra should be different. And would favour the home team more than the SCG. It is also a chase-friendly ground and toss would be very vital.
