I don't think it's so complicated. Pehle he decides that but then he felt emotional and did this. But he also knows that farhana was within the rules. He was conflicted between practicality and emotions. Initially he was against her. But later after the dirty attacks in farhana he supported her. I don't find hypocrisy aur footage angle here
