India Vs West Indies Test Squad Announcement

The two-match Test series between India and the West Indies will kick off on October 2 in Ahmedabad, and Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium will host the second red-ball match from October 10 to 14.

Jadeja Vice-Captain, Nair Dropped!

Shubman Gill (captain), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Narayan Jagadeeshan.

Nair & Shardul Dropped!

Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur, who were part of India’s England tour, have been dropped for the two-match Test series against West Indies. Abhimanyu Easwaran hasn’t been included either.

Axar & Padikkal Return

Allrounder Axar Patel and top-order batter Devdutt Padikkal have been recalled. Axar last Test for India was in February 2024 while Padikkal’s last played for India in November 2024.

“He’s (Bumrah) available for both the Test matches. We’ve had a fair break after the England (tour). In fact, he didn’t play the fifth Test either. So, there’s been five weeks of break. Even this tournament (Asia Cup) is fairly spaced out till this last week. He’s ready and keen to play both Tests.

Why Jadeja Has Been Named Vice-Captain?

Rishabh Pant is the vice-captain at the moment and a key player. But unfortunately, he hasn’t quite recovered to make this Test series. We are hopeful he will be available for South Africa. Jaddu has been one of top performers with a lot of experience. So that’s essentially the reason.

We are hopeful by the time South Africa comes, he will be 100 per cent fit. Exact timelines – I know he’s not going to make these two Test matches (against West Indies) but after that he’s very close to getting fit.
